By:
Ye Gods, the great Rob Walker in full-on Alan Partridge mode at the end of th Womens 10k. Voice completly cracked and gone, and wobbling on about people 'going bonkers' in the Rift Valley.

Calling @the muppet moans:
Hoping you might furnish the forum with some of your thoughts, and perhaps we might be able to get something go which will benefit all going green, here at the athletics. Cheers, SP |

much as I love to hear the thoughts of MJ I just had to switch to Eurosport in the end. If anyone did manage to stick it out did he make any notable comments on the 100? - my initial thoughts were that Lemaitre could squeak a medal out of this
By:
Dunno about what MJ said but it's clear that the way Bolt doesn't win the Gold medal is if he gets DQ'd or loses a leg. He ran about 30 metres and then jogged the rest.

When was Usain Bolt a 1/2 shot in the 100m
Looks like i missed the free money boat |

Men's 10k Farrar to challenge Bekele, odds even in favour for Mo? I know Bekele's form a bit unknown due to injury problems, but for sure Mo has to distance him to avoid a sprint, Bekele's final speed should still be unbeatable. Your opinions pls?

Dean Macey is a legend. My fave athlete of all time. Along with Kathy Cook the most unlucky British Athlete of the last 30 years...but for different reasons. How wrong you are Kathy Cook was fking useless!!!! |
By:
Macey was mostly useless as well.
Watching tv now and it is one crap performance after another, Dobriskey ran like a tw@t and the snooker commentator is still going on about being a fastest loser.............whats the point, she is still crap. Cant wait for the bookies to price up how many golds we will get in 2012, I will be on the unders big style, surprised if we get any at all. Take all funding off them, there is no incentive to train hard when there is cash in the bank.............all funding should be performance related |
By:
Unless your named after something fast in the 100m you may aswell give up the game..Bolt & Jeter unbeatable..

bb6, the mens 10k is fascinating. Farah is the guy with the form. Without doubt the best distance runner n the world on the track at the moment. He's destroyed world class fields with consumate ease over 3k, 5k, 10k and Half Marathon this year. But he hasn't race Bekele and, as you say, no one has any idea what shape he's going to be in as he hasn't been seen for 18 months.
My take is that Bekele is a champion, he's arguably the greatest distance runner of all time and I don't think he'd race if he didn't think he could win. He has NEVER lost a 10k race. In is life. Ever. So for Mo to win he's going to have to do something no one has ever done before. Even if Bekele turns up and is only 85% fit he's probably still good enough to win. I'm hesitent to get involved at all on a betting front as there are far too many questions but Zersanay Tadese is a cracking price at about 18. If he starts winding it up from 5k out then he'll drop most of the field like a stone. He won silver in the 10k in 2009 (behind Bekele) and is multiple world half marathon champ. His weakness is that he has no real kick at the end of a race but if he runs well then he'll trade a lot lower in running I think. Hoping for a great race. |
By:
i agree with above but bekele needs to be top of his game to win imo
farah,s finishing kick is lethal and if bekeles not fit i cant see him winning. merga looks the bet for top3 imo he always runs well |

I never thought that I would yearn for Colin Jackson - the 'presenter' announced that we are going to see Oscar Pistorius in his heat of the 400m HURDLES. Now that would have been impressive but I wouldn't have wanted to be in the next lane.
This coverage is dire. |
By:
bekele is out apparently
By:
where did you hear Bekele is out?
By:
CH4 reporting that Bekele is doubtful.....not officially out yet according to their coverage.
What do you guys make of the 800m? David Rudisha's to lose? |
By:
It was on Channel 4 so it is bound to be wrong
By:
ahahahahahahaha
Chambers DQd for a false start. |
By:
great to hear old rob on the mike alun
By:
![]() Steppy.Did you hear him in full Alan Partridge mode yesterday on the last lap of the Womens 10k ? |
By:
I blinked and I missed him sadly
By:
Well, if you want a little treat, I'm sure a man of your calibre will be able to find a recording of it somewhere on the Net. I can't see how Rob will ever top it, although I eagerly await to be proven wrong.

By:
Bekele lined up
By:
commentary on Beeb Radio 5 even worse than channel 4
By:
Hope Mo wins this, but I fear that the various gangs of other athletes will do their best to prevent him doing so.
By:
a case of so near yet so farah
By:
Bekele looks cooked
By:
There'll be no slacking from Farah.
By:
dropping out always poor unless injured
By:
I think Farah can win this. If the pace needs to be upped, he can fawcett...
By:
Farah hasn't broken sweat
