Hope you're right mate , the more elite QB's involved in the play-offs the better Happy

My number 1 rule..Have to have a top QB...49ers were the team mentioned that could do it without one...really fancy the cowboys to turn the redskins over in the final week

If you think NE are short who is going to beat them in the AFC, especially if the title game is in Foxboro? just a little perspective. Clear class of the AFC, whilst the NFC is a bit more open. I'd pit SFG, GB, and NYG on a par.

The price is massive compared to what the texans price has been all season..You could see houston still taking the no1 seed as the 49ers could do them a favour and the texans are still well capable of winning the 3 remaining games.

Green Bay division winners and a NE win away from being the 2nd seed. Terrible results for New York today, could be in real trouble now. They have a tough road game against Baltimore who will be desperate to wrap up the division with both Dallas and Washington likely to go off favorites in their week 16 games.

fallen angel you are gifting them the final 2 games then? they still have a chance at number 1 seed if they win tonight..texans could easily lose another game

@harry22, ?? my comments only relate to Green Bay, obviously if NE win tonight they are the new second seeds in the NFC. Nothing to do with New England apart from the affect on the NFC play-off picture

Afc seedings have sorted themselves out tonight....pats defeat has given the texans the number 1 seed as long as they win one of the last 2 games...denver have wrapped up no2 seed...cant see them slipping up with two easy games coming up.

The only team that can stop the Pats winning the Superbowl are the Pats themselves. When they put it all in no one, and I mean no one, can stop them

Wonder if many people want to change their opinion on the 49ers decision to switch quarterbacks.......Kaepernick is on a different level to Smith for me.

yeah they were good last night as were the Patriots when they started playing 49ers v Packers is going to be a hell of a game as it looks likely at this stage....

Regarding the 49ers / Pats game.

It was only when the 49ers when into zone coverage that the Pats started coming good - when they went back to man coverage it was all she wrote. Best game of the season so far -LOVED THE FAKE PUNT! - also it was also a short week for the Pats who were no doubt were being hailed as Superbowl champs elect by the press after beating the Texans.

I just don't know if a team is fit enough to do man coverage for a whole game against the Pats - that said the 49ers will have to control the clock better on offense if they do meet in the superbowl to rest their D better.

Although i still think the Pats should be favs I think this is wide open - i don't go by the whole this is a near enough 100% certain 49ers v Patriots superbowl final. I think Denver have won 9 in a row which isn't to be sniffed at, the Steelers could make a charge from next week going into the play offs if their big players get fit, the Packers have got better with the more influential players starting to return, the Seahawks have smashed teams up in recent weeks can they step it up against proper teams, Atalanta showed they can hack against the big teams last week and are immense at home, RG3 and Washington and even Dallas have looked good the last two weeks with players getting fit!

If i was a coach of any team playing the 49ers then I would basically watch the 2 Rams games with a fine toothcombe. There's obviously something the Rams do tactically which troubles the 49ers so it seems an obvious starting point to try and exposed their weakness(es).

Like any other sport, a lot of it comes down to luck. In my opinion NYG were extremely lucky to win the Superbowl last season (I don't know how they rajjed it against SF and the Pats were sloppy in not running down the clock including a regulation missed catch for a first down basically cost them a Superbowl) but NYG got the job done when it mattered.

In other words, come on the Tony Romo the dream is still alive YES! Crazy

Want to see Kaepernick win a game when it matters, in terms of a win or your out point of view. Yes they were exceptional against the pats and he played a great game, but the 49ers had absolutely nothing to lose going into New England sunday night, it was a road game, horrible weather and no one expected them to come close to matching brady and co imo. And they knew that if it all went wrong, they had the seattle game to put things right.

Harbaugh is going to have to do a very tricky post game press conference in the play offs imo, going along the lines of Alex Smith was a muffed punt away from winning the NFC and a trip to the superbowl, You've failed to get there with Colin Kaepernick, do you feel you made the right decision?

Heck of a lot of pressure on the 49ers going into the play offs.
By:

And you are all forgetting that the Pats played on Sunday with the Gronk - that Pats are a different animal with the Gronk in the side. He is the best blocking Tight end out there plus he is a real scoring threat for Brady. The Pats will be unstoppable with a fully fit Gronk and Hernandez in the same side

Not sure the 49ers had nothing to lose playing in New England..they were and still are in danger of throwing away the division...the win was massive...I thought they played superbly..agree with MING..zone coverage let the patriots back in the game...look at this performance compared to the sorry effort the texans put on last week.

I get your point harry, but the point i'm trying to make is that if they lost in new england, they shrugs their shoulders and 'oh well', it wasnt a 'must win' so to speak, although i completely understand about the pressure the seahawks had put them under.

I think they played an excellent game and i was mightily impressed with CK, however i have reservations that come playoff time, that when it really matters CK could produce this type of performance in the playoffs. I think this whole Smith/Kaepernick thing is going to bite harbaugh in the backside personally.

The pressure gets too great imo.

True it wasnt a must win but what a win lol...the patriots have put pts up for fun v denver houston and indy at foxboro...all afc contenders...thought it was a real top draw effort/

on colin kaep...he could have a nightmare in the playoffs but i think harbaugh is making the right play with kaep...alex smith as so many people on here have said just manages the game with little risk..not sure that is enough as he aint in the same league as rodgers brady..kaep gives them a little edge with the way he plays....we may even see more of randy moss stretching the field....even a seasoned QB could have a nightmare in the playoffs but it is going to be highlighted in bright lights if it is kaep...Credit to harbaugh imo.would be easy to play the safe option...

and they are clearly the class of the NFC imo

@d13phe, I have taken up a load more during the San Fransisco game and slightly before. They are a point bigger than NE with a better chance of being 2nd seed. Everyone getting fit and healthy at the right time. Many other teams seems to have traded shorter than GB are now, remember SF hit 5/1 at some stage. They will probably have to beat the 49ners on the way to the NFC championship game potentially at Atlanta but they have been improving all the time excluding the one blip in New York.
By:
d13phe
When: 24 Dec 12 09:58
i dont think Atlanta will make it to the championship game

i see the seahawks rolling over the redskins and then the falcons

i can see the packers/seahawks playing for the NFC but this time at Lambeau which could be interesting considering what happened earlier in the season.

the 49ers could obviously spoil the party by beating the packers.

Some massive overreactions to yesterday's games.

AFC

Houston look huge. They still must be massive favourites for the #1 seed given they are playing an Indy side with nothing to play for, and who they dominated in Week 15. So 7.2 to 10.5 on a meaningless game is too much given that the game didn't show anything we didn't already know. I'd make them 8.

Denver were 8 before New England lost to San Francisco. They now find themselves at 5.3 which is an overreaction. They do look the team most likely to win the SB, but hard to justify them being less than 6 in my opinion.

New England have been poor for most of the season and were woeful against San Francisco and Jacksonville. Jacksonville! The market refuses to adjust their price, but should they be less than 8? Certainly I'd fancy Houston before them and I think 8 is possibly generous.

Baltimore were a stupid price last week but one good game does not mask their deficiencies. I'd make them 25.

Indianapolis are locked into the #5 seed so will likely have to face Baltimore in the first week. Hard to argue with their current price though given their talent level so 75 feels right.

Cincinnati are locked into the #6 seed. So to get to the SB, they likely need to win at New England, Denver and Houston. I'd make that less than a 1% chance so they should be around 110.

NFC

Atlanta. They win and they win and they win. Just as they aren't flashy should not underestimate their ability so I'd make them 7.4.

Green Bay. Favourites for the #2 seed and whilst they have already lost to San Francisco this year, why are they so much larger than New England? I'd make them 7.6, just larger than Atlanta.

San Francisco. 6 after beating New England. 10 after losing to Seattle? Too much of an overreaction, both ways. Having to win at GB and Atl however is a huge task for an overmatched QB. (Especially if Harbaugh gameplans as badly as last night) I'd make them 9, but slash that considerably if Justin and Aldon Smith return.

Washington. They still need to defeat Dallas to get the #4 seed and even then, will have to win 2 road games to get to the SB. They remain a work in progress so I'd make them 40.

Seattle. A ridiculous overreaction. They beat up two of the worst defences in the NFL, and then play a SF side missing their best player on the back of a primetime game on the east coast, with a ridiculous game plan and get the fumble / blocked bounce luck. Yes, they look good, but winning on the road 3 times is too much. I'd make them 17.5 and even then, that price looks too short.

Dallas. Should maybe be a bit larger (75) based upon their need to win at Washington, but they are a side that could be dangerous in the playoffs and I would make them favourites vs Seattle if they got in.

Minnesota. Keep winning, but even if they get to the playoffs, probably a bridge too far for them so I'd make them at least 110 although given that is the price I made Cincinnati, maybe they should be even larger.

Chicago. Favourites for the #6 seed surely, but Detroit are not an easy task and they would need to improve massively from recent performances so I would make them 85.

New York. Unlikely to get in, but if they do who would want to play them given they have already walked over San Francisco and Green Bay this year so I'd make them 80 for now, but immediately put them less than Seattle if they got in.

I might make Houston a shade bigger around 9.0 but agree they are too big at 10.0+ and apart from that I agree with absolutely everything you state The Real Moaner, excellent post. I especially agree that if Dallas got in the play offs I would make them favs to turn over the Seahawks at home. It's a shame Dallas have such a patched up Defense as their offence has looked potent in recent weeks

You seemed to have completely have forgotton how New England destroyed Houston a few weeks back and how Houston have been destroyed by Rogers and Brady this season. New England would beat Houston. Brady and the Pats are a bad, bad match up for Houston.

>>>>Exactly, he's gone with Kap because he knew the team would never score enough points with Smith. SFG defense is not the 85 Bears and the 2000 Ravens, there are no defenses like that any more there isn't even a defense close the Steelers in 2005-2009ish. Ya gotta be able to score points in different ways, and fast sometimes. He's made the right call, and I have every reason to dislike a Hairball.

Because you made such a pertinent point Harry! I would rather face Washington as with Dallas their offence is hot with Bryant, Murray, Witten, Miles Austen etc and Romo is on fire which has gone under the radar and if they somehow sorted out their defense (although unlikely) then on their day could compete all the way with any team. Whereas I feel with Washington you would always fancy your chances to turn them over as the nature of their offence gives you chances and agree with Harry regarding their pass defence. When the Cowboys played the Redskins last time they were truly dreadful in the first half, absolutely horrific, yet put up a very sound 2nd half performance, if they perform for the whole game as they did in the second half they will beat the Redskins and I think the Skins have more pressure as they have been on such a good run for so long yet a defeat all but ends their play off hopes. I think the Tony Romo will step up to the plate next week
