Devils have been known to capitulte in games MAC but also maybe worth considering Tampa have a big divisional game tomorrow night in Carolina

They have a bad history against Devils, Mac so I doubt it. Another thing is div game tomorrow which might be on their minds already. Stamkos is not also 100% fit at the moment..

Pens @ Bruins starts shortly , tough game to call and maybe worth remembering Pens have had a two goal lead in the last couple of meetings but lost both  Shocked

Just read that HAYDEN Shocked

Not what I want to read tbh having backed Penguins in regulation.  The game against Flyers will have been emotionally draining, Boston have a potentially more winnable game Monday against Carolina.....and Penguins don't play again until Tuesday

Incredible stuff - Fleury (and me) may never be as lucky again.  A worry how the Penguins appeared to run out of petrol?

Well done drew and all's well that ends well Happy

So typical of Pens to produce the goods again for these statement games , their mentality for these big matches is frightening tbh and an awesome prospect for whoever plays them in the play-offs , think Pens are the best example of how to work out whether to be with or against a team based on the schedule , Bylsma is a clever coach  [;)]

Hopefully tonights games won't be as traumatic......

Toronto to lose first period Devil
Tampa to tie in Carolina Devil
Dallas to win in 60

The Toronto bet may make a mug of me tonight but I've decided it is not too good to be true - it IS true.  And tonight we can get 11/5 about it.

Seems to me like a lot of the time the away team gets the upper hand in the afternoon games? Id be interested to see the stats/percentages. No bet tonight but hopefully the devils can keep their win streak going..

Don't think you're far off the mark mate tbh and I know both the majority of players & NHL pundits would concur , as much to do with the preparation not favouring the home team as much as anything i'm led to believe but like all things it's best to generalize and build it into other advantages you can gain from the schedules rather than just play every road team in every afternoon game.

We've discussed it before several times and here's a paste from a conversation on here from last October...

As discussed I don't play these afternoon games if they're in America or Europe and the last few days hasn't gone anyway to changing my view , don't know whether it's just me but there's a certain lack of intensity and different atmosphere surrounding these puck drop times , will continue to swerve.

Majority of the afternoon games don't start until the new year but will have to remember to give the road team the advantage in those games. I remember that being a trend from last season.

good luck tonight  Happy

Records quickly updated on Toronto Maple Leafs.

Last 15 matches have seen Leafs marginally improve their 1st period performance.  They have been ahead after 6 first periods, tied 2 but have still managed to lose 7 (still managing to lose a staggering 47% of first periods - and that is an improvement!).  They have however managed to score in 10 of those 15 first periods which is a genuine improvement.

The season stats are therefore that after 43 matches, Toronto have been trailing after 23 first periods (53% of the time).  As said in earlier post, a bet which is increasingly looking as though it should be layed at around evens is available at 11/5.

Just read your last post with interest HAYDEN.

The game just witnessed must have been an exception to the rule re. intensity Laugh
By:
Hayden
When: 15 Jan 11 22:29
Yes mate the " intensity " reference was just my clumsy wording from last October but the more knowledgeable explanation others may use is " preparation " and the inconvenience for a home team so early in the day.

For a statement game like today and between those two teams ( remembering the Savard/Cooke incident ) I imagine would always be intense even if they played on the moon , that's what I mean't really about looking to build the reasoning into any already identified scheduling advantages rather than tar every game with the same brush.

Good luck with the Leaf's system tonight  [;)]

Going to have to stop updating those stats - every time I do it the bet goes down.  Only caught last 5 minutes of period - Flames were all over them but didn't really force a top notch opening Sad

Ty, Hayden.

Unfortunately I was betting both reg time wins and moneylines as well so missed some wins. Especially pissed of Leafs'(Grabovski) tying goal with 13secs left in regulation. Another spoiler was Jackets' Nash tying 1.04 left regulation. The odds were as beautiful as a bride in the best day of her life but as said before you can't always get want you want. Still possible to earn some more with those a couple of ties left but they were just small cherries on the cake so it's not a big deal anymore.

Stayed up for the Sharks game until after 6am last night but wasn't disappointed , long runs are destined to be broken and the suggestion that Joe Pavelski may spark the team back from injury and Dany Heatley needs a hat-trick was all a whisker away from reality , far better show from Sharks and with the injury situation looking a lot healthier they'll go to Phoenix on Monday for a really big divisional game with a lot more confidence.

Early start today with the game in Washington at 8pm ( UK time )  Happy

Evening Gents

Looks as though the Capitols are going to get it done tonight - was not a game that was going to interest me anyway.

Two bets I like the look of are Under 5.5 in Minnesota, and The NY Rangers.

Vancouver just look to have so much control and it is so hard to see how The Wild will get a foothold in the game.  Always dicey bets as an early goal from Minnesota - who you would expect to start with a lot of intensity - could really open it up.  If Vancouver get in front they could simply control the game.  That is what I'm banking on, hopefully with some confidence Shocked

The game at The Garden looks a belter - will be close but The Rangers seem to really get up for these big games.  Taking the crowd to lift them over the line tonight, ML for a little insurance.

Good point, Drew. I assume we are going to see 2-3 more goals in 3rd period. Canucks have to take more risks and I can not see them zero scoring situation. Wild just waiting on their chance. Backup goalies also in both sides which makes it very interesting to watch.

Can Cannucks turn it around?they cant loose too this one, I have cannucks regulation time! omg!!! looks bad dont it ?

It's a bad situation unless they can't score the first 5-7mins I think. If later it's more hard to score two more goals after that. Wild is desperate to win after 3 straight losses in this div meeting.

Rangers off the speed in first - Flyers had far more clear cut chances, even if both goals had an element of luck
