I've been asked easier questions Harry that's for sure...

Caps & Sharks always flatter to deceive with their impressive regular season form but the play-offs require a different mentality and a more season campaigned team such as Pens or Wings will always find a weakness when the heat's turned up , Caps ae the neutral fav team but invariably find a Pens type team in any form a lot tougher than rolling over a team in the regular season with a lot less intensity.
Devils are a shocking team at the moment as the 66/1 indicates but when you examine their personnel they look good enough to go a long way into the season if they get their act together.
Tampa look a good bunch but any injury to Stamkos will severely hinder their chances whilst Canucks have strength in all areas and will see the season out stronger than most , a big threat to all I think.
A couple of interesting young contenders are Kings & Blues , both have enough ability to go a long way but whether they have the play-off mentality amongst the current bunch is questionable , that said they will be a threat this season and even more so over the next couple of years.
Bruins are looking strong at the moment and suffered last season with both the Lucic injuries and the Savard incident against Pens didn't seem to do them any good , Flyers over achieved last season by reaching the final but have an even tougher task this season for me with issues in key positions.

Lot of waffle there mate with no real conviction about who may lift the cup , only thing I would say is don't back any team to win the trophy on what they've achieved in the regular season however impressive their record may be , the play-offs are an entirely different challenge when the "been there and done it" teams generally come into their own.

Impressive reading what both of you have to say - fair play going full time HAYDEN, I'd never have the balls (and my wife, although letting me get away with plenty, would simply not understand).

Tonight's pinsticks for me are a treble of Tampa (at Islanders, enough said), Wings and Oilers (a great price having won twice recently in Chicago) - these are ML bets.

I'll also have a single on Columbus to win in LA in the late match.

Minnesota looked a very handy team in Dallas in the game I watched and surely they have a better chance than 144/1 with bwin?  Gotta be a misprint surely?  If not I'm going to open an account.

Good luck Cool

Evening mate

Not seen anything to say he's not playing , after his rest in Buffalo and Schneider letting in four i'd be surprised if he wasn't back playing tonight.

Good luck

I'm sure a shrewd NHL follower & bettor such as Hayden is already aware, but for those who aren't www.dailyfaceoff.com is generally pretty accurate when it comes to starting goalies (based on the three weeks or so that I've been using it!)

In other news, it seems like I may have made a made a mistake backing the Sens to win tonight. Plain

Chicago Sad

Otherwise things go according to plan.  Wild win again, gonna chuck a fiver at them to win the whole shooting match I think.

Good luck, see you tonight Grin

Unlucky drew nearly a clean sweep , won't do you any harm to throw a fiver on your speculative fancy for the cup itself & it will help increase your knowledge of the standings by following Wild's progress and although currently 11th in the Western are only 5pts off the leaders and a single point behind the 8th place objective in a very congested conference.

Thanks again for the response HAYDEN.  There is such a long way to go and I don't really think that Wild will have the resources to seriously challenge.  Contacted my bro last night to get him to send the book I bought earlier in the year for his birthday(Official Guide and Record Book - buy it for him every year!)back in my direction.

Results like the one in Edmonton are the ones I find very difficult to reconcile after Oilers went to Chicago and won twice recently.  I guess I need to squash multis once and for all in this sport.  Keep getting more right than wrong and will show a long term profit.

Like the look of tonight, see if there's anything left after racing Laugh  Good Luck

Only my own personal view but i've  often mentioned that current form is of virtually no consideration for me and it's more about scheduling ( past & future ) , identifying the target games ( certain teams are very adept at upping the game for divisional or statement match-ups ) and the rosters including the likely motivation & form of the MVP type players.
You're correct about binning the multi's as the majority of selections will be favourites so however tempting multi's are it's a poor house route in the long term i'm afraid.
There's no more unpredictable sport than NHL in my opinion but that doesn't mean you can't work out a strategy to make it pay , look at the Sharks game last night they were 3-1 ahead and up by 29 shots to 12 .... and lost in OT , the past has less respect for the future in this sport more than any other in my view.

With the liquidity being nil, how are the books with the IR?  Do they differ enough from one another enough to approach 100% or even bet overbroke? (Shocked)  Not really a trader myself but would be nice to avoid something like what happened in Toronto coming back to bite me Grin

I'll actually see more hockey when at work Mischief - dongle comes in very handy on nights.  Couldn't agree more regarding unpredictability, I'd say more so with the season still quite young and as you say, the seasoned top blokes know exactly when they REALLY need to turn it on.
By:

Liquidity in-play is virtually non-existent on here as punters either want everything or give you nothing , the live games are better in that you get recreational punters joining in but even then you will either get no value or be sniped especially on the Canadian games which are well ahead timewise.
Better to look at the various markets at bookmakers tbh and pits your wits against the "special" markets which is something you get the occasional great bet , after all that's when your just pitting your wits against an odds compiler who just uses a matrix most of the time , join as many bookmakers abroad as you can , take all the free bets going and have several open at the ready when the live games are on , that's the only viable alternative to pre-match betting tbh unless you want to get out by throwing a cheap lay in but you'll probably only get it matched after the "goal" has been scored so it's just giving virtual free money to someone anyway.

My browser has just crashed 3 times mid-post, so this is attempt number 4!

A smallish card tonight after the feast on matches on the ice last night. I've gone for the mugs bet and backed the Flyers to rebound tonight after the road loss to the Canadiens on Tuesday. I'm hoping Steven Stamkos is influenced by his Lightning teammates' recent form and has a real stinker tonight. Devil

Also gone for a cheeky back of 0-0 (£2.50 @ 80/1 with Badbrokes) in regulation in the Panthers @ Bruins game. The 2 meetings in Boston last season between these two teams both ended 0-0 after 60 mins.
Scott Clemmensen is likely to start in goal for the Panthers, and whilst he has had a fairly poor time of it this season, he shutout the Bruins last season. Tim Thomas is not yet confirmed either for the Bruins, but his numbers this season speak for themselve,.

I was also tempted to take the under in the total goals, but I figured that if it doesn't end 0-0, I'd prefer it to be a 7-5 kind of game!

Who is everyone else on tonight then?

Nice to see you think the Bruins can be kept out del - I've laid them and also Philidelphia on the 60 minute mkts - as HAYDEN has pointed out the league is so unpredictable that taking the really skinny prices can be suicidal.

On the other hand, Montreal are rolling and the loss in Toronto will have been hard for Nashville to take - so 11/10 to win in 60 will be my main hope tonight.

Leaving SJ at Dallas (as advised Cool) although think Sharks will win and the game in Toronto is unpalatable (probably a scorcher in a couple of months).

I've a very big bet in a football match in S America tonight, so trying to stay awake and hopefully drop in IR.

Good Luck Cool

evening all.

i'm not sure about 0-0, but agree that boston game tonight is too tight to call so would be backing the tie at 60 mins if I had to.

do expect philly to win, and comfortably, tonight  - think they'll be set on making amends for getting muscled out of it by montreal last game.

but agree with montreal winning in 60, which is where my hard-earned will be going tonight.

good luck

good luck.
