Got a horrible feeling that the Bolts are gonna nick this VERY late, despite not having led throughout the game. I'm on that kind of run right now. Sad

Just a run-of-the-mill sort of match in Phili - pleased I picked that one to watch anyway Laugh, and Harry scoffed when I was talking about it being a great game to watch Devil.

Saw a most of the game in Montreal as well unfortunately.  Missed several 1 on 1 tries but looked woefully limited against a very well organised Nashville who bounced back well from the Toronto loss.  I'd go as far as to say the best defensive display in November, Habs just couldn't get into shooting range.

Looked tight in Boston until last 5 minutes - not too much damage here anyway. Happy

Only one bet tonight - Phoenix to win in Edmonton.

Phoenix have won their last 4 , and the 2 before that were an OT loss at the on-fire Wings and a SO loss against the Pens.

Oilers haven't just been losing - they have been stuffed on a regular basis this past couple of weeks.

23/20 Coyotes is just fine by me Grin

Good luck Cool

evening all,

having managed to get all three picks dreadfully wrong when i last posted, I'll be keeping it simple tonight, st louis to beat the devils in 60.

good luck.

Only just got bacl onto Betfair as I've moved to Biarritz in the South of France and Betfair is blocked down here. there are ways round it though. Not done much on the betting front over the last few months but waiting for the Ashes to start in to get properly involved ...

Any thoughts tonight?

Thanks HAYDEN - it helps when 4 or 5 bets don't stick out!!!

Thinking of exploring these 'other' bets in one of the games tonight - namely Dallas to be winning after period 1.  Toronto have just looked like slow starters in the two recent games I've watched.

Elsewhere I like Tampa and Nashville.  Will leave bets until after tonight's premier league football, hopefully one of the hockey sages may have rescued me by then Grin

There's always been really good value in the "special" markets with bookmakers if you're patient and diligent enough , the angle is to apply your knowledge against the bookmaker who just uses a matrix to cascade the extra markets with no personal view involved.

Which bookmakers are you using ?

BWin - they have Dallas at 41/20 to be leading at 20 minutes.

Have a look at Dallas 1st period goals compared with the Leafs.  I hadn't even looked at the stats when I posted up the possible bet, just going off how Toronto seem to need a bit of adversity to start playing (circumstantial evidence of course based on 2 recent viewings).  The Leafs have been pitiful in 1st period this season, and whilst the Stars have not been brilliant, they get a higher proportion of 1st period goals than many teams.  Add in the fact that Toronto leak plenty in the first.  The price does look tempting imo.

Here is what I reckon is a really compelling case for the price of Dallas to be ahead at 20 minutes to be a balls-up by the books.

Toronto's first period in 19 matches:  Ahead in 5, tied in 4 and behind in 10 (over 50%)
Dallas' first period in 18 matches :  Ahead in 9(50%), tied in 3 and behind in 6.

Now lets throw in the extra pearl - Toronto have failed to score in the first period in 11 of 19.  Dallas have scored in the first period in all but 3 of their matches.

I may well lose this bet tonight, but on the statistical evidence, Dallas should not be 41/20 to be ahead at 20 minutes.

Unlucky this time drew with the Dallas theory but you're dead right in that keep putting the work in and view everything long term and you'll reap the rewards , the more difficult bit for you is maybe finding the time to examine every game for potential angles depending on your workload and without looking across the schedule there's some dodging raindrops involved which dramatically increases the luck element.

Only one game last night and went according to plan with Phoenix beating Oilers 5-0 , 13 game schedule tonight so plenty going on Happy

a bit academic as I only ever go for the 1st period money line special bet (particularly like backing against washington, who often seem to start slowly) but can anyone tell me...

- for 2nd and 3rd periods, is it  the result as if that 20 mins were the full game, or the result at the end of period?

i.e. team A wins 1st period 1-0, is 2-1 at end of second a draw (as both scored 1-1 in period) or team A win?

sorry if this is a bit convoluted, thanks in advance for the answer.

I'm almost certain it takes the period in isolation cheeky - wait for confirmation though.

Tonight for me I can see 3 bets:

Devils to win in regular time
St Louis/Nashville to require more than 60 minutes
Over 5.5 goals in San Jose

No time to explain - best of luck any players.  I'll be watching the cricket Laugh

hayden

not quite sure what you mean?

i use badblokes for ice hockey specials.

struggle to find the time to review the stats in any depth so haven't gone looking for any info really, just keep tabs on the results - not a big punter on the hockey to be honest - daresay someone will now tell me that backing against washington in the first period is the fast way to the workhouse!

oh, and thanks drewboy by the way.

just one for tonight for me - penguins to beat buffalo ml.

was v. tempted to go for columbus, but figure islanders have got to win some time and I don't want it to be with my money on the opponent.

One of these bets is going to show a big profit shortly - Only the required OT in NJ last night away from nailing it, but a pleasing night nevertheless

This game in the NHL is interesting all the same - I think there could well be goals but need to bust through the stats.

Gone for Detroit on hcp - they have been solid enough on their own patch and 2.06 +6.5 looks a fair price.

Just a reminder guys.....

I know accas are only for mugs but going for ML wins for Pens/Bruins/Flyers.

5/2 looks too good to be true, so probably is.....

Once again the schedule throws up a night with too many possible bets Devil

The games in Minnesota and Columbus are so difficult to call that I'll be playing the >60minute bet once again in the pair.

The teams I'm most interested in for win purposes are Atlanta who must be absolutely full of confidence and TAMPA BAY who are hugely overpriced in Washington.

All joking aside, is there any peril in backing away team at this holiday period?  I know most of the players aren't American and so won't be that fussed but was just wondering Happy

There is a theory about opposing the home ice team in the early afternoon starts , which is effectively the 5pm/6pm/7pm starts for us in the UK , the players and pundits seem to think the road team has an advantage here in that the preparation is largely easier , was discussed on the thread a fair it last season.
