Two in the consolation

22 Jun 11 15:02
The Consolation race for the Carlisle Bell is often as competitive as the Bell itself and today looks to be no different with sixteen going to post. The mile at Carlisle is quite stiff and you need a horse that will get every inch of the race so I've picked out two that may well trade in this race, both will get the distance and both will go on the good/good to soft and are in decent enough nick from their weights today.
Majury Daw backed at 25 to lay off at 16.5 for an all green screen of 1 point, Dabbers ridge backed at 30 to lay off at 19.5 for a 1 point all green.

A maiden at the chapel

22 Jun 11 13:59
Its not too often that I get involved in Maiden races, normally I prefer to see some form in the book before getting too involved. Today though I fancy we may be able to have a trade in the Maiden race that is the first at Carlisle this afternoon. The Howard Johnson owned and trained Galilee Chapel is the horse, two maiden runs so far the gelding has ran well finishing fifth and sixth showing good early speed both times before fading in the later stages, they were six furlong races and the drop back to this stiff five furlongs at Carlisle may just be what he wants. Its a very open race on the face of it. Galilee Chapel backed at 13 with an in running lay off price of 7.8 needed for an all green to 1.3 pts or lay off at 8.6 for a 1 pt green screen.

Looks well treated...

21 Jun 11 13:08
Its not always a good thing to take an early price on an evening race but i think that the 5/1 available this morning about Rio Gael tonight at Newton Abbott was a fair price. this progressive horse won four times over hurdles last season and ended the season with a fair fourth in a Grade Three at Haydock. Just the one run over fences since then, winning fairly comfortably in a race he was expected to win, his jumping was sound that day and puts him in good stead for todays race. The opposition were of very much a similar standard over hurdles. With Bermuda Boy making his debut over fence and Takari not so fluent on his debut, Wake Board carrying a double penalty I think its worth taking a chance on Rio Gael to trade for this evening. Backed at 5/1 (6.0) needing an in running lay off price of around the 3.6 mark for a 1.3 poit profit or lay off at 3.95 for a one point all green screen.

And I'm hoping that we can get a trade out of him in the twelve furlong race that is the 4.45 at Kempton this afternoon. Placed twice over course and distance in his last two races, Beat It should give another good account today with regular jockey Jemma Marshall back on board. He has never been lower that 62 and never higher than todays mark of 68 showing excellent consistency albeit at a low level. Jemma takes 5lb off his back today and in this fairly weak affair she should have the gelding there or thereabouts at the business end of the race. He is available to back at SJames at 4/1, at the moment he is shorter on here but with the books pushing him out then there could be a drift nearer the time perhaps. Backed at 5 leaves me needing a lay off price in running of around the 3 mark for a 1.3 pt profit or lay off at 3.3 for a one point profit.

A horse that has a cracking record of trading when in claas five handicaps is where we  go tonight looking for a trade, at Lingfield in the next I fancy that Willow Dancer will go well enough to give us a trade, three winner in the last few days confirm the well being of the Swinburn stable, the gelding has won on good to soft, the distance is fine and he has his regular jockey on board tonight. Backed at 7.2 needing an in running lay off price at an average of around the 4.3 mark to give an all green screen to the value of 1.3 pts or 4.7 for a one point profit.

A good day with our sole trade easily coming down below the required price and in addition two that ran at Royal Ascot which were put up on the 8th of June 'lets have a Royal Time' (ante post thread), these both traded below the required price long before the off. On the Royal Ascot thread we gave six trades and all six duly traded plus another at Royal Ascot on another post to give us 7/7 for the meeting and a profit of 9.8 points, a nice £980 if you were using £100 stakes, happy days.

A sly one for today

18 Jun 11 11:30
Tim Easterby's horses a in fair form at the moment and I'm looking to one of his to trade for us this afternoon in the 3.25 at Ayr, last time out he had a bad draw but The Nifty Fox although finishing 11th of 16 still showed enough for his odds to drop in running, prior to that he was unlcuky when just being squeezed out in the final 100 yards here at Ayr. His handicap mark has been fairly consistent of late, always around the 85 mark and this consistent gelding should go well again today. His two most recent performances on this type of going have seen him trade to odds on both times. David allen is back in the saddle today, distance is no problem, course is not a problem and ground not a problem either. I missed the early 7 that was available but manage to get some at 6.2 leaving an in running lay off price of 3.6 for a 1.3 profit ot a lay off price of 4 for a 1 point all green profit.

Yesterday Alexander Pope did us proud with an easy trade. Also today Bewitched has already traded for us and the only one left from the Royal ascot thread that we need to get matched is Hoof It (5.9 needed), for a 100% Royal Ascot should it get matched.

16 Jun 11 20:49
3/3 successful trades for today with two of them winning at decent prices and the other one placed. The trades yielding 4.6 points profit.  Keeps the 100% record going as well for the Ante Post thread for Royal Asscot currently at 3/3 with two days to go. Happy days

Singing the blues

16 Jun 11 19:50
A good day so far with two from two and both ending up in the winners enclosure so lets see if we can make it three trades from three selection for the day. In the 20.20 at Liecester I fancy that Mata Hari Blue will go well, apart from when she is slowly away which isnt very often the mare usually trades she is versatile where ground is concerned, this is her distance and I'm not put off by the young lady in the sadddle, Lucy Barry, she may be inexperienced but at this time she is well worth her 7lb claim, her record on the flat turf is 7 winners from 30 rides and she is one from one for the stable. Backed at 5/1 (6.0) leaves me needing a lay off price in running of 3.6 for an all green screen to 1.3 pts profit or lay off at 3.95 for an all green 1 pt profit.

A non runner there so I'll divert to another meeting and go to Ripon where we will attempt a trade in the 5.10 race with Lucky Art, who has form on the going of good to soft, this is his distance and although he is up 9lb for winning last time out, the weight may stop him winning but all we want him to do is trade and he normally does that especially so for todays jockey. Backed at 5.5leave me needing an in running lay off price of 3.25 for an all green 1.3 or 1.4 if he wins or lay off at 3.65 for a one point all green screen.

In the 4.10 at Warwick I'm looking for a trade in the seven furlong handicap, a clas 6 race is a far cry from Royal Ascot but a trade is a trade regardless of class or course. Holdiay Snap is a lightly raced mare who seems on the up, she ran well in a first time tongue tie last time out at Kempton on the all weather but she does have some form on turf running third at Fflos Las. She liokes to be up their with or just off the pace and in this weak contest should go well enough to trade for us. Backed at 13 needing a lay off price of 7.6 for an all green screen to the value of 1.3 points or 8.6 for a one point profit.NON RUNNER
