Its not always a good thing to take an early price on an evening race but i think that the 5/1 available this morning about Rio Gael tonight at Newton Abbott was a fair price. this progressive horse won four times over hurdles last season and ended the season with a fair fourth in a Grade Three at Haydock. Just the one run over fences since then, winning fairly comfortably in a race he was expected to win, his jumping was sound that day and puts him in good stead for todays race. The opposition were of very much a similar standard over hurdles. With Bermuda Boy making his debut over fence and Takari not so fluent on his debut, Wake Board carrying a double penalty I think its worth taking a chance on Rio Gael to trade for this evening. Backed at 5/1 (6.0) needing an in running lay off price of around the 3.6 mark for a 1.3 poit profit or lay off at 3.95 for a one point all green screen.
Just one of things I'm afraid, it happens in racing. The drift seconds before the off was very very strange, someone knew I would think. Still, we all know the risks associated with this game, I just take it on the chin.
