Considering the worlds top 64 are playing in this event , so far betting turnover has been sparse , which leads me to thinking that there is little interest in the event . Tiger and Phil are not playing , which robs the event of 2 prime characters , who are  always of interest to the golf fans worldwide .

I like the concept of the round robins , if only for the fact that the better players should survive to the later stages even if they have one bad round ( which most players are capable of ) . Betting on the individual first day matches which start in under 24 hours has been minimal to date as far as I can see .

Only one I like is Kuchar to beat Martin . Relevant odds though .

Reckon Paul Casey might give it a lash overall .

Always a tough betting heat.

Course with tight treelined fairways, juicy rough and greens not as quick as usual PGA tour greens.

Narrows it down a good bit.

Shortlist

Matsuyama
Paul Casey
Jim Furyk
Russell Henley
Graeme McDowell
Harris English
Ricky Fowler
Jordan Spieth
Patrick Reed
Sergio Garcia
Charley Hoffman
Justin Rose
Ryan Palmer
Jimmy Walker
Ian Poulter
Webb Simpson
Matt Kuchar
Hunter Mahon
Henrik Stenson
Brendon Todd

Think the winner will come from either Group 11 or 13.

Group 11 looks a real Group of Death with Walker, Poulter & Simpson & Woodland.
Group 13 Fowler, McDowell, English, Lowry

Couple small outrights from either side of the draw.

Sergio Garcia 33/1 EW Gen. Course should suit.  Concede there may be question marks over his form this season.

Harris English 90/1 EW PP Big price if that he gets out his group(Fowler, McDowell, Lowry). But if he does he will have every chance to go to semis from weak side of draw.

Mainly a week for singles and accums. though.

Have had a crack @ one in each quarter of the draw:

Patrick Reed 25/1

Hideki Matsuyama 33/1

Jimmy Walker 35/1

Russell Henley 80/1

Good Luck all.

Have never really had much luck in the outright market of this event, but have given it a whirl again, going with one form each quarter.

Paul Casey, Matt Kuchar, Jordan Spieth, Graham McDowell, Jason Day and Ian Poulter were the ones that interested me at the early prices.

Left Day and Poulter out, as think Spieth will be more suited to the track than Day, who may find a few wayward drives not being forgiven, and the Masters champ can take care of him in their quarter.

Poulter has a very tough group, and though Kuchars is no cakewalk, he looks a shade better value.

Casey will relish being back in this event, and is in fine form.

G Mac looks made for this track, and combined with his fine matchplay record, he looks a cracking bet at 50-1.

Spieth has a tough draw, but is walking on air at the moment, and 11s is acceptable.

Will update P & L next week. Busy week of sport and work this week again!

2.5pts e.w Jordan Spieth 11-1
1pt e.w Matt Kuchar 33-1
.9pt e.w Paul Casey 35-1
.8pt e.w Graeme McDowell 50-1

The 8-13 on Matt Kuchar to account for Ben Martin looks just too goo to be true. Got as much on as poss, and put remainder on at the perfectly acceptable 8-15.

8pts Matt Kuchar 4-7 average

Rory McIlroy has a horrific record for someone of his stature and SPs in this event, and can be taken on by Brandt Snedeker in his quarter.

2pts Brandt Snedeker Group 1 4-1

Agree abut Grace, gerrymc, will have an interest.

Wee Rory heading to Vegas tonight to hang with Diddy & Co. so an exit at some point today would suit him well.  Either way will be up all night chasing Punnani so cannot win overall in what is a grueling golfing w/e.

Cracking putt from Rory on 17. Though Horshel played his part by only parring the last.

Some comeback from Casey, though he too got more than a helping hand from Molinari.

Hunter Mahan is playing superbly, and given his draw, I would make him fav now.

3pts Hunter Mahan 7-1

Great comeback from Rory. Horschel will be thinking about that one for a while.

Coverage should get easier to manage now. It was a bit all over the place over last few days. Jimenez vs Bradley in dead rubber has turned out to be the most talked about game. Basically squared up to each other.

Backed Oosthuizen 33's and on CASEY 40's from the start. The last five winners of Match Play have never won a major. In 16 events, 10 winners have worn the Stars and Stripes but six of the last nine have had foreign passports.

-----------------------------------

Rory McIlroy (1): He’s the best player in the world according to the rankings but some will argue that’s up for discussion with the recent play of Spieth. One way to sway the argument back in his direction is a victory this week but like any tournament he signs up for, McIlroy is looking to win. He can overpower courses and players and a cold putter will be the only thing that will hold him back this week.
v
CASEY (36), 2006 Volvo World Match Play Champion, his current form racking up four top 10s in his last six including T6 at Augusta his last time out. His splits are off the charts and his putter is working like it has been in the past. Hopefully he plays Oosthuizen in the semi-final tomorrow.

-----------------------------------

Oosthuizen (29): The injury bug has passed by this Major champ. He’s seventh in SGTTG and eighth in GIR. He’s also eighth in the all-around on the back three top 10s in his last six. He was T7 two weeks ago at RBC Heritage.
v
Jim Furyk (5): Furyk begins the week as one of four players looking for back-to-back wins after he won the RBC Heritage his last time out in a playoff. His confidence will be sky-high as he made 11 birdies in his last 20 holes to pick up his first title since the 2010 FedEx Cup.  His match play record isn’t hall of fame but his experience and his “grind-ability” is.

-----------------------------------

Danny Willett (48): His four starts in the States have resulted T12-T29-MC-T38. Not bad for a guy who’s not seen any of these courses. He’s 27 so he shouldn’t be afraid of much and had a distinguished amateur career as well.
v
Tommy Fleetwood (54): Another English virgin at just 24 he’ll chalk this week up as a huge learning experience. He has more rounds of 77 or worse than in the 60s in 2015 so he's the surprise package so far this week.

-----------------------------------

John Senden (60): Some guys are ranked in the OWGR because they are just getting their feet wet. Some guys are ranked where they are in the OWGR because they are going the wrong direction. Brisbane's Senden is the latter as he’s MC five times in nine starts in 2015 and his best finish was T31 at Doral.
v
Gary Woodland (50): After opening with T3 at Sony to start 2015 he’s gone on to MC in four of eight events. Those four weekends haven’t resulted in anything better than T21.
