massive crowd there today ...tomorrow is the best card so far this leop ....a smashing 3ml nov plenty in with chances imo....after the way she won this last year i'm half tempted to give vlv another chance...can see midnight chase taking on flemenstar , this could set it up for one of the finishers ...it just might set it up for tidal or sdc ...if they go hammer and tongs , i honestly cant see flemenstar lasting it out ...
By:
Flemenstar won't make the running early workrider, he is only ridden like that over the shorter trip........will be a better horse over three miles imo.
By:
ok topfarier , i know he likes to bowl along in front , tomorrow he face his stiffest task yet ....he'll need to get every yard of it as well ....i 'm just not sure he'll get home...what makes you think he 'll be better over this trip...i'm interested why ...off out soon so will continue when i get home around 10...

By:
DEDIGOUT now stepped up to 3m, should take some stopping imo.

Best Lexus in years and the novice chase is top drawer too. Went for Monksland, Tofino Bay and First L in the big one.

One horse il be keeping a close eye is foxrock in the 1st race, for a shrewd combo of trainer and owner,if there is a few quid for this will be very interesting,

outside looking in, it is 2-0 to the punters at leopardstown. the odds on players have to date enjoyed a feast. i think day 3 will see the fav layers reel it all back with profit.
i had good word for foxrock when it was due to point last spring, missed the engagement and done enough without sparkling at loughrea. i dont rate it good enough to win the opener, shocked it can be laid less than 2/1 here, ought to be a 5/1 shot all day long, probably the feel good factor from colbert station kicking in. the sizing horse was far more impressive, won without blowing a candle earlier this month. with him thunder and roses plus elliotts and moores in the mix, not alone should foxrock be win laid, place lay return also a player. zaidpour doesnt appear to like the track and could beat himself, while back in focus is my idea of a coaster, great when allowed to do his own thing, not a shred of evidence he will battle under pressure, and unless they all fall around him, he will be tested here. betting at limerick is a joke given conditions. the bumper tomorrow contains 7 donkeys and a racehorse, again a bit like malt gem, unless you have you ear to the ground, you would not realise that prideofthecastle was a player. he is decent, whether he copes with the ground is guesswork, 100% he is the most talented in that race, damien needs one more winner to lose his 5lb claim after all these years, hope it works out for him here. 3 star lay back in focus 2 star lay foxrock 1 star lay zaidpour. |

Wonky claims there was a massive crowd there today!!!! There was not!!! Clueless fool wouldn't know what a massive crowd was. Give it up wonky. How did your Countrywide Flame get on yesterday by the way?

Cronins horse is bred to handle the conditions as well as any of them but it'll all be academic anyway as they can't race tomoro if they have a cell in their brains. I was being called waterlogged today and there has been significant rain this evening and tonight to boot.
Agreed re. Foxrock. It would go against all known betting principles for a horse making his racecourse debut to be that short in a Leopardstown maiden hurdle given the quite reasonable depth in competition. It is probably a harsh enough assessment of Zaidpour to say he doesn't go at the track given the only two horses to beat him there were Oscars Wells and First Lietenant. This staying hurdle crack in Ireland should suit him given they'll lob away and he can quicken out of heavy ground. It's his true vocation. It'll be interesting to see what Murphy has to say about VLV. Given she seemingly made a noise in the Hattons Grace the only procedure they could have done to get her back this quickly is the laser which is really a stop gap measure. Monksland is improving but Zaidpour has it in the book. At the start of the week Back in Focus looked a bet to me at 7/4 but everything has stood their ground and it is a very competitive heat. I still think he's the most likely winner but there will definitely be races run in the next few days where you can back similarly priced horses without facing as many possible dangers. I said it before the Durkan and nothing that happened then changed my mind. Come March SDC will be Irelands best Gold Cup contender. I cannot believe that a horse that races as hard as Flemenstar can keep it up over that trip. SDC on the other hand will go round there for the first circuit on a loose rein. It is a quite fantastic card. |

By:
the more i look at this race the more flemenstar looks a lay ....i think he has it all to do ...this is one of the best fields ever for this race .. been unsure if he'll stay etc , at the odds i'm a layer....
By:
just layed it @ 2.84....i've nailed my colours to the mast ....
By:
Foxrock is a quite astonishing price now at around 2.4!
By:
Thunder and Roses to place is now the same as price as Foxrock to win. I know which one i'd rather be on looking at it before the race.
By:
Hope i dont have egg on my chin but backed foxrock earlier at 13/8

By:
Not sure what Davy Condon was doing trying to go up the inside of the loose horse there to be honest, caused his own problems.
By:
wtf was condon doing going up the inside ...pure madness....
By:
Well done Foxrock layers, didn't have to wait long to collect,Condon the architect of his own misfortune alright.
By:
Backed Doc Hollywood here.
In the big one I've gone for Tidal Bay. I love Flemenstar but see SDC as the bigger danger today. Will do Tiday e/w and RFC with SDC. |

Back in Focus a brave winner under an inspired Ruby.
By:
Jockeys don't matter, eh?
Ruby is something else. |
By:
hard luck punchestown , looked all over , peck after the last done him....benbulben i cant understand why they dont let this fellow lead...he'll hit most of them , but i'm sure he's a much better horse from the front ..maybe one day they'll listen to me....
By:
workrider,it was a shame as he was jumping better than ever just before he belted that one and I thought he'd settled well in behind the leaders and no real sign of pulling the way he normally does, the stirrup got caught under the jockey which sealed his fate.
By:
Doesn't really matter who rides 'em.
Andrew Lynch did exactly the same as Ruby -but horse had a sketchy jump at the last and Back In Focus is a doughty stayer who gallantly answered the call. Lynch was not 'outridden' by Walsh - Aupcharlie was outstayed by BIF. Note Mr Sam Waley-Cohen (amateur jockey) who got back up on Long Run after that horse had a few untidy jumps near the end. It's because Waley-Cohen did exactly the same as any professional jockey would do and Long Run's stamina did the rest. Examples of same available about 300 days a year to those who open their eyes and look at the evidence. |
