Would both teams here not be better losing this game BJG to get the easier route in the knockouts? They'll avoid the other Southern hemisphere teams won't they
By:
Yup but NZ aint gonna go out to lose!
France have put out a weakened team so they wanna lose |
By:
Don't worry Ingerland will stuff those silly frogs in the knockout

Come on New Zealand, i don't want Ingerland getting them in round 2

jeez, good to be on the other side of the draw to these |

BJG ...... i m usually not a fan of these bets but paddy power have Samoa 8/13 for half time / full time against Fiji in the morning ..... looks worth a punt to me ...... 60, 000 sell out in Auckland where a lot of ex pat Samoans and Fijians live ...... Samoa will have their first choice out half back for the game and have 12 of the starting 15 that played against wales , a match imo they should have won ...... Fiji have had to pick a new back row because of injury and suspension....... 8/13 HT/FT and Samoa -8 two bets for me ......
By:
get in there neill d

Samoa comfortably landed both bets HT/FT and handicap -8[:)][:)] ........12-0 half time ...27 - 7 full time ......hoped u backed them BJG seen as your there biggest fan [;)]....
Ireland look like they have got out of Russia game injury free which is the main thing with all the players carrying injuries o driscoll , darcy , kearney ect ......i was counting the clock down to get sean o brien off the field ..... can t imagine where ireland would be without him especially with david wallace out injured ........if we do get a run in the knockout stages he ll be right up there for player of the tournament ....... Argentina scored a try with 7 minutes to go to beat Scotland 13-12..... wonder what the permutations for that group is now if scotl[;)]and could manage to pull it out of the fire and beat england next saturday |
By:
Ya had Samoa done every sort of way [smiley:crazy]
Ireland were good i thought - the Argentina/Scotland game was one of the worst i have ever watched! |
By:
dire stuff allright BJG .... Argentina are like a well organised thirds team
![]() .....can t take it away from them they have a knack of getting through in world cups ...any idea BJG what the permutaions are next weekend in this group ????.....presume argentina will get a bonus point win next week against georgia what will scotland have to do against england ??? |
By:
Scotland are as good as out now imo
Need to better whatever the Argies do |
By:
If Scotland beat England by 8 points or more they go through, provided Argentina win with a bonus point.

Stand-in skipper Leo Cullen admits Ireland's fringe players at "champing at the bit" to face Russia in Rotorua. Cullen will lead a much-changed side, with coach Declan Kidney also handing starts to Donnacha Ryan, Sean Cronin, Tony Buckley, Paddy Wallace, Andrew Trimble, Fergus McFadden, Ronan O'Gara and Isaac Boss. And Cullen, who played in Ireland's only other clash with Russia in 2002, can't wait to lead out the side. "Everyone wants to play and most of the lads will be playing regularly at their province, so being a squad player is a difficult role," he said. "But what's best for the squad is what's best for the team. There has been a really good atmosphere all the way through, even during August when we were losing (in the warm-up matches). Everyone stayed tight. "Now we're starting to build momentum and we must push on. There's no point Australia being the end of our journey, we've still got a long way to go in this tournament - we hope. Chance "After the Australia game there was a real buzz in the camp and there's a massive responsibility on us to carry on the momentum that we have. "We've been training hard over the last few months and we've all been looking for a chance to play. "For some of us that first chance comes on Sunday. We're champing at the bit to get out there." Russia have handed a debut to Denis Simplikevich in one of nine changes for the clash with Ireland. The 20-year-old winger, who impressed at the 2010 and 2011 Junior World Rugby Trophy, is joined in the side by Valery Tsnobiladze, Alexander Khrokin, Sergey Popov, Denis Antonov, Artem Fatakhov, Alexander Yanyushkin and Sergey Trishin in the starting XV. The inclusion of Simplikevich means Northampton ace Vasily Artemyev switches to full-back. Ireland: 15 Rob Kearney, 14 Fergus McFadden, 13 Keith Earls, 12 Paddy Wallace, 11 Andrew Trimble, 10 Ronan O'Gara, 9 Isaac Boss, 1 Cian Healy, 2 Sean Cronin, 3 Tony Buckley, 4 Donncha O'Callaghan, 5 Leo Cullen (capt), 6 Donnacha Ryan, 7 Sean O'Brien, 8 Jamie Heaslip. Replacements: 16 Rory Best, 17 Mike Ross, 18 Denis Leamy, 19 Shane Jennings, 20 Eoin Reddan, 21 Jonathan Sexton, 22 Geordan Murphy. Russia: 15 Vasily Artemyev, 14 Denis Simplikevich, 13 Andrey Kuzin, 12 Sergey Trishin, 11 Vladimir Ostroushko, 10 Konstantin Rachkov, 9 Alexander Yanyushkin (captain), 8 Victor Gresev, 7 Andrey Garbuzov, 6 Artem Fatakhov, 5 Adam Byrnes, 4 Denis Antonov, 3 Alexander Khrokin, 2 Valery Tsnobiladze, 1 Sergey Popov. Replacements: 16 Evgeny Matveev,17 Ivan Prishchepenko, 18 Alexey Travkin, 19 Alexander Voytov, 20 Andrey Bykanov, 21 Mikhail Sidorov, 22 Mikhail Babaev. |

I think underdogs Japan are good value at just over 2/1 with powers against Canada in the morning to win their first world cup in 20 years .......... its more or less the same side that played so well against France and was a little unlucky against Tonga .......... Canada are beatable so 2/1 straight and +6 in the handicap are the two bets for me [;)]........
By:
Anaglog thats good to know that the fringe players will give it their all vs Russia, how to you think we'll get on?
(Anaglog to post breaking news "Man lands on moon" soon) |
By:
Japan went close this morning 17 - 7 in front at half time only to be denied victory with a penalty at the end from Canada to level the match 27-27 ......+6 handicap covered anyway
[:)]...I see that Nick Mallet has it up cranked it up before Sundays match claiming that Italy s front row is far superior to Irelands ....Regardless whether he s right or wrong it s maybe not such a wise move ....munster have had great success the last 10 years using little comments like that from the opposition in the week of games as motivation |
By:
Ya the japanese left it behind em this morning
Can the Aussies score 100+ v Russia yes imo |
By:
Australia seem to be having an injury crisis in the backline with rumours that back row forward Samu is going to be picked on the wing for the game !!! ......
By:
Didnt see that - will wait for teams anyway [:x]

South Africa played Samoa this morning. If Samoa had gotten even a point they would have been ahead of Wales, with Wales having 1 match left, admittedly against Fiji but still
So ideally, from a Welsh perspective, best case scenario is if Samoa got nothing out of todays game, not even a bonus point, which means Wales can afford to lose to Fiji & still qualify for the 1/4 finals So the IRB appoint a WELSH referee to the South Africa vs Samoa game! |
By:
This has defo been the group of death with South Afica , Wales and Samoa .....All three would deserve to be in the quater finals .......you d feel for samoa missing out .....i think they left it behind them against wales and put up a very brave fight this morning after a bad start going 13-0 down losing 13 - 5 in the end ....... then again the welsh would feel they left the south africa game behind them ...... close calls in the end ....... not saying that i think wales would be easy for ireland if they get through Italy Sunday but i defo think they would much prefer to play wales than samoa ....
By:
well done the referee in the scotland / england game ....nice bonus in your back pocket from your friends in the IRB for making sure England get through to quater final ....... whatever anyone s opinion on who was better side he absolutely rode scotland
By:
Yep Englands attitude shocking too, playing for a small defeat in the last quarter
By:
As much as i hate to say it - Ireland have a massive chance to get to the final if they play to 100% each game
![]() Cue a defeat to Italy ![]() |
