and obviously no reason for the police not to state that it looks like a burglary, but their investigations continue.

it doesn't pass the sniff test yet.

I'm sure they said originally it wasn't politically motivated.
If they thought it was other agencies would definitely be involved because it would be treated as terrorist related. That doesn't have to be about religion.
I suppose it could be a domestic but that seems highly unlikely given what we know about Widdecombe.
I still think my theory has legs, although technically it should be housebreaking not burglary.
However I agree it is all speculation and I'm not going to post again until we are told more.

I don't believe political motivation has been ruled out. Since they seemingly have no idea who the culprit is, how can it be possibly be ruled out.

No risk to the wider public, according to the police. How could
they know that, if a mentalist burglar was at large? Some straw
clutching going on imo.

So you've gone off your burglar in a remote spot theory?

The Forum should have it pinned down eventually with all the guessing, btw Salmon S, no such offence as Housebreaking in England, burglary or aggravated burglary if a break in was the case. The fact the police state no wider threat would suggest as GC says, they think she knew the offender which would also suggest they have a good idea?

In an update on Saturday afternoon, officers said they were working on the assumption that the 78-year-old former politician was attacked at about 12.30pm on Wednesday.

The ambulance service found Widdecombe’s body at her bungalow in Haytor, Devon, at 11.40am on Thursday.

A 26-year-old man arrested in Newton Abbott on Friday in connection with the investigation was released without charge early on Saturday and is no longer part of the inquiry.

Assistant chief constable Matt Longman of Devon and Cornwall police said Widdecombe’s death was being treated as suspicious, but the force did not believe there was a wider risk to the public.

He said: “Our inquiries are moving at pace for a suspect who is believed to be a white male.”

He would have been arrested "On suspicion" cider and he was quickly eliminated, SOP in any investigation. There will be a mountain of forensics to be investigated and a PM which takes time so the Police are hardly likely to speculate in public to give conspiracy mugs like you more fuel!! HTH

on what basis ?

there's no conspiracy, I'm stating that the police lie, subvert, and withhold information to deflect all of the time.

I'm stating that it doesn't, right now, pass the sniff test.

It may well be that it was a random killer, and didn't know who it was. I'm stating that is odds against in my opinion. But I'm not ruling it out.

There's a thread on here covering the story where a woman ploughed through a fence on school grounds in wimbledon, driving a chelsea tractor.

the police said nothing to see here after a short investigation.

the families of the children who were killed didn't believe them (luckily)

look it up, loper.

read the thread on politics.

my only point from the start was that there was much more to it than they were letting on, and it should have been tested in court.

it's not a conspiracy, just common sense. if something looks and feels wrong, it usually is.

don't believe police propaganda uncritically. ever. would be my advice.

They use the conspiracy word to shut people up, facile, boring and unimaginative.

it basically means not approved opinion. plenty of conspiracy theories around Farage, but of course he is fair game for the establishment. so nobody in the establishment or thinks they have high status opinion is bothered.

the best one was the origin of coronavirus. conspiracy theory that is was a lab leak (even though there was a lab experimenting with the virus in Wuhan, pure coincidence). As soon as crusty Joe briefly woke up to tell us it was likely a lab leak, it became approved opinion overnight!
