And yes he's a British middle aged caucasion, not a Labour MP or on the blob's books, so a severe sentence was probable (as I predicted).

Wandering on to someone else's property for your dog to go to the toilet is not an accident.Pensioners can be right c0cky areseholes and goad folk into a fight. Only their bodies often don't match the bravado.Nobody writing on here knows exactly what went down. I sense the 'pensioner' wasn't blameless. I sense Williams took it too far.

Jus popped out for a game of hockey when attacked by an oap with a dangerous dogg.

I love cockapoos, both cocker spaniels and poodles are traditionally working dogs, and cockapoos are most comfortable when they’re kept active, and yes, you can train them to be a type old fashioned gun dog. Still fluffy and friendly.

lol that's right loper, the very day after we're told the southport monster was allowed to roam free as they didn't want to profile him as a black boy with a knife, and they were more concerned about his safety than his probable victims, as he was 'allegedly' autistic.

you can carry on in your own little fantasy world, where people aren't treated differently due to their immutable characteristics, if it makes you feel better.

I had my own row with a 'pensioner' after he allowed his dog to use my property as a toilet. Instead of being apologetic/remorseful when I pulled him up on it, he wanted a fight.

I am wise enough not to have taken him up on the offer, as prison isn't for me. I can see how someone slightly less patient might not have been so passive about it.

I've just seen the BBC headline and how they describe Williams:

Grand National horse trainer jailed for beating man with hockey stick

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c39330rnxdko

So "Grand National" and "beating man with hockey stick" in the same breath, surely just an unfortunate and unintended link there, eh?

"Grand National winning trainer" not possible, but not to worry, we'll still describe him as a "Grand National trainer".

Probably get a good few digs off of those who were suckered into Cappa Bleu year on year too.

I wonder how Williams would have responded if the 'trespasser' had been over 6 ft and built like a brick sh*thouse?

Waited for the police?

Maybe Williams should have admitted it and taken 3 months.

GEORGE.B re Grand National trainer.

My guess is the BBC news intern misunderstood the term National Hunt trainer.

Two tier criminal justice system again. Labour MP attacks and beats up member of the public WHILE ON THE GROUND - walks free from court. Horse racing trainer attacks pensioner for trespassing - gets THREE YEARS. Ridiculous.

All the legal experts have come out of the woodwork.

Labour MP pleaded guilty to assault    Williams was found guilty of GBH with intent (an offence that carries a max sentence of Life imprisonment)

He was lucky to get only 3 years.

JML, no case is exactly the same. Obviously.

The Labour MP was guess what, a MP. Elected to public office. He sucker punched someone and then went in for more when they were on the ground and out of it. He WAS NOT in control of whether the victim cracked his skull open on the tarmac or not. Luckily, he hadn't.

The Labour MP then lied about what happened to the cops, and tried to put the blame on the victim.

He was effectively let off. How can you, or anyone else, possibly justify that. Do you think a Reform MP would be let off for that. lol.

Yes Williams attacked someone who was trespassing on his property. Not some random constituent on the street. Not a sucker punch.

Who decides the charges ?

Oh that's right the CPS. Their former leader, is guess what. A Labour MP. Unfortunately for us, also nominally the prime minister.

CPS decided on all charging decisions but no doubt you'll know more than them.

Instead of riding out tomorrow, he'll be getting ridden by Bruce.
Safeguarding issues when he gets out means he may not be put in charge of young stable staff given his violent nature.

Arrogance...no way his brief advised him to plead not guilty....a couple of those years are for wasting everyone's time....plead guilty, say sorry, you were having a bad day and lost your rag and the sentence might have been in months rather than years

You got something right, to be fair. But, as per, usual. Rule 101 = go for the man instead of the ball.

You appear to be of the ilk that claims if a process is followed, it can't be questioned. It's the clever people, innit.

If you want me to go for the ball you've got to put one in play be actually explaining WHY you're right
and the CPS is wrong.

I assume the CPS would have had some medical advice before charging him with manslaughter.

Why don't you actually explain what you disagree with.

I assume you've read this medical advice because commenting on the decision without doing so would be a rather stupid.

wouldn't say it was harsh or leniant, looks about right.

you'll always get people comparing the offence to other crimes and punishment.it is what it is...he was guilty of over the top violence with a weapon as an aggravating factor.
