Obviously Ethical Diamonds exploits in America is a massive outlier but I would like to know how anyone thinks CH would have the pace or class to deal with a 10f group 1

at 9yrs old ewe can have 1000.

My point exactly, just to make this clear, this is not my idea, this is from the Constitution Hill's first Flat target thread further down the list.!!

In many decades of following the game, I don't think I've ever NOT wanted a hurdler go chasing.
I fully believe it's a terrible idea and I really hope connections give him an easy time and
try picking up a few staying group races come the flat season...and I think a French campaign
beckons as it's not such a competitive division and a softer surface is always likely.

Why even mention it,Herbie?
The horse is not going Chasing

Give it one more chance and put Bowen on it as I think Nico is as apprehensive as the horse is at the hurdles.

Not sure why everyone seems to assume that he could win a flat race other than a maiden. The only bumper/hurdler that I can remember winning a valuable flat race was a mare trained by Monica Dickenson.

I agree sage.  A series of monster failures and disappointments and still we hype this horse.

Mellotie, who won the Cambridgshire in 1991

Based on what Irons? Henderson himself has said they dont know what to do next so either try something different or retire it.

The horse has taken to guessing at the hurdles, toffee.
No jockey ever born could stop it

He can make people look silly but wouldn't put him over hurdles again.
Had 3 falls in 4 races & thankfully he's got up  to fight another day.
He's won enough races & prize money.

I dont agree, part of a jockeys job is to make the horses mind up for it. Anyway like I said he needs to change something or retire it.

Please tell the Forum how you could have stopped CH from taking off a stride too soon?

Clever Cookie might've started as a bumper/hurdler,went off quite short for the King George @ Ascot
few years back.

thanks yes, Mellottie was trained by Mary Reveley. I knew it was a woman trainer. She started off in a bumper, then a hurdle or 2, then went down to a mile on the flat and became a legend. Plenty of flat horses have been dual purpose but very few that start in a bumper. CH needs 2 low suns in the sky to turn a hurdle into a flat race.

UTI - I didn't know that Henderson had already be ruled out chasing
as I thought he said they'd take a few days to reassess.

I'm happy to learn that's not gonna happen.

I was at M.Rasen with an owner of Mary's in 1989,sageform.
I met Bill Turner who told me that his was a certainty in the Bumper (Nick The Dreamer).
I mentioned it to Mary and she smiled and said,"he is wrong".
2/1 about a future Cambridgeshire winner was a very pleasing result.
Forgive the aftertime but it was 36 years agoLaugh

Uptheirons.   16.50.    Paul Nicholls must have felt much the same when 66/1 Ahoy Senor beat his Bravemansgame in the G1 Novice hurdle at Liverpool.
Before the race I asked myself wtf are they going all the way down there?  Laugh
I always wonder if it can be pinpointed just when it is that a horse falls out of love with racing.  Like Ahoy Senor.  Maybe Wetherby 29/10/22.
If we could only spot the signs what a killing we might make.

Turbo Linn started in bumnpers before winning a group 2 on the flat and running in the coronation cup.

The difference was that Ahoy Senor was not "expected",Honcho.
Whereas,Mellotie most certainly was.
BTW,Front Runners (like boxers) have only so much fight in them

who would take evens against CH running in a novice chase?
Nicky in March: After a nice break we have schooled him over fences every day this week and he is faultless. Arkle here we come. CH arrives at Cheltenham and refuses to go on to the course. The end.

Whilst the old anti's are bus planning next April's latest once a year sortie on Aintree, they continually miss gimme's served up to them on a platter.

The games most loved racehorse sent back to the racecourse time and again despite experiencing very bad falls in three out of the last four races it's run and in the other race showed a distinct attitude that displayed a dislike for racing.Devil
