Is it raining at the racecourse now? The forecast is for slight rain and (shower) until mid afternoon tomorrow.

CUTH Goyen made the choice I shared news of it a couple of weeks back on the AP thread. I questioned why he’d do so so far out without final works being done or knowing the going.
Fabre gives a large hint at to why if you’re good at reading between the lines in the Scott Burton article posted earlier. Trainer's view: Andre Fabre: "He likes the course and when he was beaten last time in the prep race he probably wasn’t fit enough, as I’d given him a break after Sandown. He’s in better shape than he was in the Prix Foy. He’s well drawn and he should be there." Trainer’s view: Andre Fabre: "I was pleasantly surprised to see him quicken so well [in the Niel]. He’s got some good experience, he’s a laid-back horse and he shouldn’t be bothered by the atmosphere, so I’m quite confident." Seems like he’s straight talking to me. |

He clearly doesn't work,Glasgow. That's for sure. A potless, opinionated cretin who invades most threads Kettle black? SO FAR NO RACE discussion from yourself, so it’s a great description of yourself! And no I don’t work I’m retired and a practising artist ![]() |

I hope he was referring to Sosie. If so, an indirect reflection of Aventure too.

They look equal on form,2nd and 4th last year,it looks the toss of a coin,
But strange they ve swapped from last year to this, seems easier to ride last years mounts. Guyon rode most races on both of them,so he looks like he’s has first pic, even though different trainers. They’ve not improved much,so relying on it being a weaker race to win. |
|
By:
It’s just my hunch but Fabre has talked up Aventure as it takes the pressure off his runners. The two quotes are about his runners Impossible.

CUTH after the Vermille and the Foy Katherine Ford asked Goyen who he’d ride, he said if it’s soft - Aventure
Good - Sosie. Pierre Charles Boudet rode Sosie in his last piece of work not Goyen, he was alongsides Sevahnna’s Knight who was beaten today. |
|
By:
My apologies I just checked it was Junko who he worked with last, before that it was the stayer who Sevhannas who was 6 th last year.

Fabre’s comments after last years Arc.
“All three are fine after the race,” the trainer summed up. “It was probably the ground which stopped Sosie. He lost his action at the end but he ran okay. We knew he might not like the ground. He will stay in training as a four-year-old and we'll concentrate on the big summer races such as the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud and the King George. “Sevenna's Knight ran a good race, but I wasn't surprised because he likes soft ground. He was out the back but ran really well to get where he did. It was what I was expecting–he's a good horse. He is in the Prix Royal-Oak and if he's okay he will run. He'll be happier over that trip–we know he stays it well.” https://www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/four-year-old-return-planned-for-sosie-after-creditable-arc-run/ |

Do you actually have a "Funded" BF A/C Delbert?
I am certain that you do not ![]() |
|
By:
Boudet is still suspended. The French are tough with any criminality pending court case.
|
|
By:
Hope that that helps you CUTH and anyone else who has an interest in the race. If backing Sosie wait for the day.
Sosie was deemed not to like the ground at Sandown, he didn’t like the undulations or having to lead. Yes he is Impossible but that looks like coming to a close and he’s back with Fabre. I’d post the photo but not so easy to do. |
|
By:
That would be a no then,Delbert, you non punting cretin.
|
|
By:
Del. They both tried and failed last year, same going, can’t see why they d improve on that,
Very few winners of major races, win it,after losing in it previously. |
|
By:
Sosie has a similar draw too, Aventure had a plumb one last year so could agree on that.
It’s why I said to Ace (op) Delashay • October 3, 2025 9:57 AM BST Fair play to stick your neck out Ace and I won’t be here to laugh if she fails. Looks a great race and she faces some different beasts this year as well as the ones from last who are having another crack at it. Hope it’s a great one. *(Minus her 3 year old weight allowance) |

Verbal diarrhea unlimited by the non punting Delbert

cuth - Waldgeist and Sotsass both won the arc in recent times after finishing placed the year before.
I'm sticking with Sosie at the odds on offer. I'm a bit confused about the comments on here about the horse not wanting it soft underfoot. According to the the race data on ATR he has won 5 times at Longchamp, 4 on soft going and once on very soft. His only unplaced run was at Sandown on g/f. |
|
By:
Dixie, fair play, didn’t research it in full.
But generally most big race winners tend to be first time runners in the race. On sosie,it’s double the odds of adventure, yet they are very close on ability. So that either makes its great value or makes you question why. Clearly both have a chance, but don’t look stand out. Good look, |

I think Sosie does go on softish ground, just did not seem to last out as well as Aventure over 12f. I think he was chinned by a stayer last time too.

A stayer that showed a great turn of foot ;) whom Murphy described on trials day as weak stayer ;)

ATR does a good job of repeating the inaccurate French going descriptions ;)

French going descriptions are often unreliable.
Plenty of those Sosie runs would have been on ground quicker than given. I think he probably copes with Good to Soft. I doubt he is even as good as last year. |

Storm Amy,raining in France,defo soft,heavy type ground.

I don't disregard A Fabre's comments and never would and it's not what he said that confused me , i have actually made a fair few bob on his horses in big races, Waldgeist being one of the most pleasing in the 2019 Arc when most were telling me i was off my rocker for being relatively bullish about his chances.
If we are to disregard official going reports then what is the point of them ? |
|
By:
John Gosden totally ignores them,Dixie
|
|
By:
That’s a good example Dixie as he was a horse who was meant to hate soft or heavy so I can see why you keep the faith. Sometimes you gotta stick with your gut.
Boudet said to him after Enable had beaten Waldgeist at Ascot that he knew that he’d win the Arc. He’s like Moore to AOB and has a lot of respect for him. There wasn’t any trying to put people away just that there’s a lot of false talk out there by lazy journos. He’s a great trainer and at 80 remarkable. Let’s hope for a cracking race. |
