in a sun morning medal rory,s lost 7 balls this week, about time spectators were kept  50 yds further back, making a mockery of the game compared to groups with no watching ,stopping the ball etc

you can enjoy it  without believing what sky are trying to convince you ,your watching the worst golf of the day has come in the last 5 groups,no shame in admitting it,its hard graft trying to get over the line and its not all mary poppins and unicorns so no idea why sky are trying to convince hardened sport/golf watchers any different

It looks like the bet of the century 1.24 Sheff going into the final round with a 4 shot lead.

Should we be taking about leaving the forum if he gets beat?
By:

Scheff should well win and most likely will do but a 4 shot swing could happen on one hole around this place. I wouldn't to be waiting on one bad swing or piece of misfortune to get 24 pence to the pound personally.

Yes seaside.  He is far too good to lose.  He missed six singable putts yesterday and still murdered them. Imv the only one who will mount a challenge is Li - if he has calmed down and had a good night’s rest.
They want to get the cameras out to watch the crowd in the rough!  Wink

Yeah, I’m sure one Rory drive into the rough was booted back into a favourable position yesterday.

The trouble is Captain there is nothing a referee can do about it.  If the player himself has committed no infringement no interfered with ball can be replaced by officials.

Remember Faldo v Marsh.
Ten seconds after flying into the packed crowd fringed behind the green, his ball flopped back over their heads onto the green!  Clearly not by the energy Faldo had given it!
Nothing could be done and he simply took it without a smidge of conscience.  Went on to win of course.  Faldo, the same guy who once shopped Sandy Lyle AFTER THE MATCH, NOT AS HE WAS COMMITTING THE OFFENCE, for puting tape on the top rim of his putter to dull the sun’s glare.
What would Rory do if one of his was thrown back onto the fairway?  And what would officials do?
Absolutely nothing, because they can’t.

golf is built on/the rules designed so every player in the field is protected by them ,if some people are followed by crowds of 10 deep stopping the ball gpoing in to bushes and some have few watching, their basically playing a different course, the crowds need pushing back as far as possible and courses especially in majors set up to allow it to happen, all the pundits bedwetting about lowry been unfairly penalised because camerads dont follow everyone but not a mention of rory hitting a dozen 40 yds off line and findind a decent line every time,

All over by the look of it. Like watching the last day. Hope something dramatic happens to spice it up.

Shane’s ball moved at address.  Unfortunate but to his credit he took it well.  Missed the pundits taking his side but would expected such - they are on his home patch after and don’t want their beer interfered with!  Laugh  I am actually amazed that there hasn’t been any ( publicised at least ) incidences of real bad behaviour at one of these events.  It says a lot for those who attend them.  There hasn’t been one guy who has consistently jeered from somewhere adjacent to Scheffler - “Rory’s going to get you”!  Thankfully he has had the good grace to do it after he has played his shot - hopefully that won’t change.

they were heckling the american fella in scotland last week
By:
LoyalHoncho
When: 20 Jul 25 12:39
Were they.  Sorry to hear that.  He shut them up though in the very best way so good on him.
It is a very difficult issue.  If for instance a couple of spectators try to get them to stop it can quickly become ugly and where might it go, generally fired up by alcohol intake.
Glad you brought it up because McIntyre has gone right down in my estimation.  He had portrayed an image of a good fun guy, easy-natured and good bonhomie.  No more.  In his post “Genesis” interview he let slip a very bitter streak and a couple of pieces of conduct here this week have been disappointing.  Saddening.

MacIntyre does a lot of whining. When he won the tournament in the USA he was complaining about them having a drone.
