Coventry, flagged up on the ATR ratings hub. Not won in 4 years but 24 spots lower than when at its pomp in Ireland.
Application of money catches the eye.

"enni punter who thinks they can make a living pre race just watch Anthropologist last night and Desmond Castle today..its a fckn mugs game. (unless you're in the know)"

the first one was a 13/8 shot ( weak ) against an extremely well backed horse that is worth following.  The second was an 8 race maiden  20/1 shot.    If those are your best examples of pre-race betting it's just as well you don't do it.

Most successful punters operate in the 3/1  to 10's/12s  range  so wouldn't have been on either horse.

The almighty nothing matters more than the "price " has cost majority of gamblers a lot of money

On the contrary, it’s all about the price ?

I like him personally. I've never met the bloke but from what I can see and what I've heard he is genuine and very approachable.

Just a fellow punter trying to win a few quid. Isn't that what most on here are trying to do....me included?

betting SP after 9 0 clock on race day is now for the birds or available on a   vanishingly small ans shrinking amount of races, taking a price and getting BOG off on every race/selection SD puts up as he advertises in his selection pieces is obviously not a serious recomendition for 99% of punters

"ewe in the 3/1  > 10/1 range howey?"     Yes but not often  a "straight " backer. Lay / Lay to back etc.  If you say it's very hard I agree but I believe a few people have made decent money just from their judgement.  eg. Alan Potts who used to post on the forum and wrote a couple of very good books. I think most punters try to nick what they see as value from the bookies early ricks  BOG special offers etc. In reality you have to take advantage of overbet horses ie. mistakes from other punters.

100 so called over priced horses every week, there overpriced for a reason 99.9% of them get beat, every man and his dog thought they,d beat the book to some extent on 6 or 7 horse in decent grade races on a sat card at weekend ,won one at 6to 5 best available earier in week 5 to 2, and thatlooked beaten everywhere but the line or else it would have been a wipe out, most people arnt interested in horses so called out running their WRONG PRIVE ,finishing out of the places

A mate of mine thought if the board says 8/11 I will ask for an even £1000. Thought the bookie ( h1lls ) would turn him down and was  worried when bet accepted. Couldn't lose face so bet was on.  But it's an example of someone thinking they are getting value.  Luckily for him horse won.

Why did he ask for the bet if he was going to worry when accepted?

this was 30+ years ago when a grand was worth a touch more. I think he placed a few big footie bets and was a golden spurs client whatever that meant. Top mug probably. He wanted to show the racecourse rep he was a big player without putting any money down. Didn't think for a second the bet would be taken.  It's not the next price is it ? It's called ego I would say.   What he didn't realise is if they think you're a mug you can have anything on and maybe not quite at any price but keep 'em happy.

why would a bloke try to bet 26 grand on,with his card then just say ok i wont bother when card wouldnt work
why would a bloke try to get 200,000 grand on at RA and then say nah cant be bothered

at cleveland park many moons ago my mate used to wait till a few were trying to get on and sahout up from the back, just because he used to like to hear the bookie say £20 DOWN TO TASH Laugh,
why has BRIAN HAZEL shouted out for 40yrs take 10,s on in a obvious 1000 photo  and never laid and never wanted to lay the 10,s on LaughLaughLaugh,
punters/bookmakers travelfrom having huge and tiny ego,s sometimes 4 times a day Laugh

his thinking is if 8/11 is on all the boards and money is being taken at that price if you get evens you have got value. Very dumb of course. The horse might still not be value at evens. As I say this one won.

Don't know if the fella is going to come back but want to give the CairnBet guy some props as I really enjoy reading his blogs and wish there were more of them.

Also, like the fellow poster, some sadness that I am London-based and unlikely to make the trek to Hexham to meet and share Indie-based puns on track. But appreciate you trying to educate, and entertain, the masses Love
