Although high nos favoured up to 7f , there is a ' golden highway ' (in theory ) from stall 1 where the water doesnt quite reach .

Seagul said he pays no attention to the draw! You’d expect split fields so I’m taking his and going for one hoping that it’ll be at an advantage! Here’s to hope!

Just tried to put a Ryan Moore ttc 7 fold for a pound on Bet356
Just in case, you never know... Was about 170,000 to 1, plus BOG Restricted to 6 folds only on these combo of selections Must be fearing another Frankie day |

I'm not feeling the buzz for Ascot this year. I've always enjoyed the week. Must be me.

I think it's the mass wealth around Ascot that's affected me more than I realized.
By:
'Trident', same here. The knockback on betting by bookies, and the non-running hotpots eg Kyprios and Lake Victoria have taken the buzz and enthusiasm this year. Also, apart from Treanmor (5/4) in The Chesham on saturday there's no outstanding horse imo.
The wealth is obscene, and the money spent in the sales is beyond apprehension when there is so starvation and conflict around the world. How much tax is paid on each sale? I hope it's 50%+ for these wealthy buyers/speculators. |

Impossible that’s some statement when we have so much potential with the two year olds. Some cracking races for the older horses and the unknowns amongst them.
I’m more disappointed that Sardinian Warrior is a non runner than those shorties, seems that the excitement of something running big at a price doesn’t muster any enthusiasm from many. Life without risk and chance is stagnant. |
By:
It’s unfashionable to say but there is also a hell of a lot of wealth in Jumps racing and Chelts. If anything the money and buying the best is making that boring.

Every year I'd target 3/4 juveniles for the following year. But, a few have been sideline and missed Royal Ascot.
Wealth is being used much more to buy excellence and fame and glory. We'd had this in the old days too but it was never translated into near total dominance. Also, the ability to produce their own in numbers eg Coolmore is a distinct advantage against their counterparts, and others not privy to enviable access. BBC is reporting that the Gambling Commission is investigating Adult Gaming Centres in the high streets. And, Royal Ascot is patronized by the King and Queen. Shocking!! |

Good horse! Something doesn't feel right about Ascot this year... To me anyway ![]() |

The sun is out and I for one am looking forwards to it, wealth is everywhere these days and lots of you are rolling in it!
So cheer up guys as the song goes, “Don’t bring me dooooown Bruce!” ![]() And impossible you know I’ve mentioned my dislike of greed. Remember how Field of Golds connections gobbled up that 4/1 for the Irish 2000 before it was confirmed that he was a runner?!! |

Judging by his previous quotes I ddont think Impossible knows FOG is running, not surprising.

High numbers in sprints seems to be the edge so far.
They'll get the watering can out later ![]() ![]() |

The maximum temperature recorded at the track was 26C and the going remains good to firm, good in places with clerk of the course Chris Stickels set to apply 5mm to both the straight and round courses on Tuesday evening'
That will be the average of more on the stands side and less on the rails. |
By:
This 5f race could be the high side if the draw, or really low?

A lot can depend on how the watering is done day to day. Will they try and even up the track?
By:
The 2nd and 3rd in the Hunt Cup were drawn 1 and 2...winner and 4th 30 and 32..
By:
Tom Segal who is usually loathed to say that horses can't win from one side of the draw in sprints is sounding out high numbers as boss.
By:
The rails is ALWAYS favoured on G/F in straight course races, always has been always will be
By:
Good chance they will try to correct it by watering but can they put enough on in this weather to make much difference? The far rail is also chopped up by runners on the round course.
By:
Low numbers aren't going to win if most of the sheep choose to come down the stands side. As lead on says, in the Hunt Cup the far side were only just beat and only by the hot fav widely tipped to be a group horse in a hcp.
By:
...I always thought, and was told, that irrigation spraying machines couldn't get right into either rail.......maybe completely wrong
By:
That was a serious edge we’ve just had with high numbers, if they don’t water to level it up it’s a great day again
By:
But how many are described as high? 5, 10 horses? The Sandringham at 5.00 is the tricky one for me. I fancy Oolong Poobong (21) and Zgharta (25). Is 21 too far from the rail? It will depend on the skill of the jockey in getting near the rail in the last 3 furlongs and not getting boxed. How Oisin got so much room on Never So Brave was a miracle. What were the other jockeys thinking?
By:
Stickles was saying where the grass gets compressed or compacted that it stops the absorption.
By:
Dela,
I like stickels, but as COTC at the worlds top meeting he needs to be much better than that and provide zero draw bias. Owners pay a small fortune for a winner here and the draw bias is as horrenous as usual |
By:
Agree having done bets days before, I have little to lose compared to any owner or trainer that might be now fretting about the draw.
Rouget pulled his out of the French 2000 rather than run it as it was drawn badly and you couldn’t blame anyone else here for doing so. Was just relaying what he’d said to the new chap on at the races earlier. Haggas spoke well of Sky Majesty but doesn’t like the draw but that could also be because the main ones at the top of the market are well away from her. He was also negative about his winner yesterday - Merchant but the stats guys gave reasoning for why that was ok. The way courses are watered and ground manipulated isn’t up to it all round I’d say. It’s a continual gripe of punters and no doubt trainers and owners. ![]() |
By:
no water absorption where grass is compacted by horses running it
as both sides will have equal amount of horses running on it and no ones winning down the middle where there's less usage other than filler something to say how does that help anyone ? the going stick on 1st2 days showed fastest ground far side but they were still winning up standside |
By:
What to make of that! There’s still hope!
By:
If I had his email or number I’d pass it on to you all!

By:
The jockeys drawn high did not want the rail, perhaps had more water put on?
Looks like the middle now. |
By:
Bloom was on @ 12/1 despite the draw! Confidence in her justified.
By:
what ever they did last night, the draw bias appears to be less so far but they were both 6 furlongs conditions races rather than 7 or 8 furlong handicaps which was where the big bias was yesterday.
