BBC 10 on clock news just led with this and started by saying...
"White 53 year old British man" arrested...

Followed by Police announcing this to stop speculation

It looks like he tried to reverse but wasn't allowed to.

If that was before the incedent he had every reason to be fearful for his own safety.

Why did he choose not to drive down the middle of the street, ploughing into people and not breaking at any point?

He turned the corner and within 5 yards he's realised he's made a mistake.

Stopped the car with a view of returning the way he came but that was made impossible
by the Liverpool fans.

Reg its 24/7 doom and gloom on most news programmes, no wonder so many more folk are getting depressed, the news programmes should be made to show at least one uplifting story imo.

Possibly trying to stop all the nutters out there from trying to incite racial hatred and division on social media. Seems to have quietened down (and disappointed) a couple of them on this thread.

I know the road well
It’s a one way system down to the Strand
I’m shocked that a car could get on that road when the crowd were dispersing
Surely there would have been bollards to prevent access

In regard to the race of alleged perps, the valid accusation is that the identity is concealed if it's a minority, and reported quickly if it's a Brit caucasian.

In this case, it appears to be reported quickly and a Brit caucasian.

So it followed the usual pattern.

God forbid, the only test to confirm if things have changed is if we get a terrible event, and the alleged perp would be viewed by the establishment as a minority.

In this video you can see him stopped opposite William Hill which is about 2 shops down from the junction.

And you can see the car reversing. They just wouldn't leave him alone.

When you make a mistake whether it’s a one way street or pulling out in front, raise the hand and acknowledge it calms the situation…..

It must have been distressing to those who witnessed it but the attempts by national and local politicians to turn it into something much bigger than it was is typical of what we see and hear in the media every day. The driver was more at risk of death from the angry fans than any of the "heroic" first responders from the police etc. The guy was not armed so far as we know. Meanwhile, Memorial Day in the US resulted in 50 dead and hundreds injured. Let us try to keep a sense of proportion.

I’ve never understood why they have open top bus parades with thousands screaming and getting drunk putting massive pressure on the police and authorities….

I could understand if they were celebrating military coming home from War….should call a halt to this nonsense tbh…

Especially in this mad world nowadays…..open air lunatic asylum….

there's too much doom n gloom in the world today aceform...

Liverpool fans celebrating with their team on an open top bus bring hapinness and joy to folk who are probably not living the best of lives...

the authorities should make sure that no vehicles are allowed anywhere near the public...

something has gone badly wrong here imv...

and that in no way excuses what the bloke has done btw.

And if he was brown and called Abdul you'd say the same - as would all of you excusing this. - even if he came out of hooters? I genuinely can't fathom how you lot can turn your 'anger' and reason on and off depending on the colour of someone who commit a crime. You pass this to your kids  and you blame others for society's ills?

it is not racial and they are not inciting. the are not 'nutters' for being exasperated at being taken for fools. it is almost always followers of a certain creed and people are disgruntled at the fact it is so often denied until it cant be avoided any longer. southport a prime example. the lack of reaction and hatred after every brutal slaughter of innocents by those who shouldnt be here in the first place is most remarkable. and far from disappointed, most are relieved because the number of crazies who might do this is extrememely limited among the population and almost exclusively the preserve of 'radicals', as we must call them

it should not be plods business to shape public opinion, although they try to because there is a dishonesty from state institutions about the reality of a significant nember of religious fanatics of one faith only that desire to kill. nowhere they are found are non-believers safe from mass-murder. nowhere

security services waste huge resources monitoring them while we continue to deny the problem exists

You may recall vast amount of idiots descending on hotels to try to burn them down last year, with people inside who had fcukall to do with the crime. Apparently such behaviour is totally understandable, when you are white that is.
