As I said on another thread the irony of Trump and Vance talking about respect. Continually talking over Zelensky. You invite someone and then treat them like nothing. Then you have the stooge asking about wearing a suit. What a total plank. Zelensky would have felt like just walking out. Maybe that is what they wanted? It was hideous a spectacle, and should be called out as such. The best hope the world has got is Trump is nearly 79. While he is in Office it's America first, and don't give two hoots about the rest. But wanted to take freedom away from anyone sensible enough to swallow the propaganda and receive an experimental vaccine that didn't do what they stated it did. The trouble is, it's always looked like a war that Ukraine cannot win, unfortunately. Putin is a classic bully, he's not going to pick a fight if he cannot win. Increasingly, it just looks like pointless bloodshed and destruction of towns/cities. The only hope is that Russia will eventually exhaust itself and its resources, but I wouldn't count on that.
So I don't disagree with Trump's efforts to bring this war to a close, though his main interest in Ukraine appears to be in what he can get out of it, as is his wont. The emphasis must be on trying to ensure a peace that will muzzle Putin and buy some time, however difficult the likely negotiations. Zelensky didn't cover himself in glory, but bully boy Trump and his clueless stooge Vance even less so, talking over Zelensky without affording him any right of reply. Farcical to fall at the first hurdle like this, but hardly surprising. Diplomacy always involves tough discussions, give and take. Not sure why it has to be made so public - just sums up the nature of the Trump circus. |
