never done that steve ??
hear the boy in front having a grand on at 11/10 so you have £5 on hoping you'll get his winnings when you go back as result of a hastily conceived – but still potentially criminal – act of fraud. thought everyone did that ... |

is he saying anyone in line taking a price that someone else has taken to a bigger stake is potentialy a scammer/cheat/theif ?,if his clerks fook up again |

I,ll go as far to say there's zero chance of any joint paying out 3750 without seeing the 3750 printed on a winning slip and checked by at least 2 people on the joint or the automated tkt payout ,which tells me the mistake was made when the bet was struck ,wrong tkts given out, 2 slips with 3750 returns written on it, etc

if all happened as we,re told, one on banks joint might have known/recognised the bloke who bet the 100 ,but they would sure have known the punter who bet the 1000, no tome, dick or carry could jog up to banksy,s joint and get a grand on and no chance of nearly 4 grand been handed out to a complete stranger without a few words/conversation taking place, imo
how many grand cash bets will banks have taken in the ring on sat ? |
By:
strangers don't walk up to banks joint and get accommodated for grand bets
strangers don't get handed nearly 4 grand in winnings, without plenty of chat, conversations, with staff at the banks joint, plenty wer,re not been told here |
By:
I'd agree both size of bet and payout make this case very suspicious - hardly going to go unnoticed at any point including payouts surely...?
By:
exactly they wouldn't have known the 100 quid punter but would have known the grand punters face and wouldn't have handed over 3750 over to a complete stranger without a lot of interaction ,whilst waiting for a known face to turn up, unless the stranger had 3750 returns on his slip or machine showed 3750 returns ,any comment / interaction with joint from grand punter when he rocked up to collect his 3750 ?

You can every security check in the book in place but human error will happen at some point.
I remember paying a guy out on the wrong multi, he ended up with an extra £500. Bet numbers no where near the same, writing different, both had 4 prices taken, I'd convinced myself who it was before he came in and basically paid him out without checking anything. He was never ween again. |
By:
Should have cut price after took a grand.
Schoolboy error. |
By:
On a busy day where they are taking in and paying out, it's entirely plausible that something has happened
By:
so in 4 days at York how many bookies made an error and how many punters were as banks calls them THIEVES
where was the error/things happen, at the placement of the bet at collection of winnings ? has anyone at banks end ruled out a tkt mistakenly given out as a grand bet for 3750 returns, instead of a 100 for 3750 ? |

We have a few sherlocks on here talking bull. It's easy to understand what happened. Bloke comes up wants ton at 11-4. No problem. Clerk types in extra 0 making his slip saying he's got a grand on. He goes to collect his 375 but given 3750. Whether he looked at his slip or not we don't know. But how NOBODY working for Banksy spotted the serious error is the mystery. And is it an inside job? Nobody can be this silly n'est pas...

Slickster if that was the case then it would be Mr Banks vault so why was Mr Banks saying the workman was gutted.

All the guvnors are behind the joint. Hope you are well. Ronnie. |

Sorry. Most of the guvnors
Geoff is nearly always on the computer. Ronnie. |

the ? is Ronnie how many pairs of eyes, joint interaction would go in to handing over nearly 4 grand to an apparent stranger, must have been 3750 for whatever reason on the tkt, no way imo has 3750 been handed over to a stranger holding or handing over a 375 returns tkt, which at least in public banks and his team are suggesting, but he,s already on version 3 so time for more versions to come out,
If its as told by banks, I,d say the punter betting a grand would be known to the joint and his winnings/return of 3750 would already have been counted out in someones pocket to hand over by the time the punter arrived for his payout, chances of the banks team handing over 3750 to another punter/complete stranger by mistake imo are zero, zilch, nada, not happening |

By:
Most taking the cash, give the bet a quick look before they hand you it over but at busy meetings, it must be really pressurised, from 10 mins before the off, trying to get as much business as you can, it's probably a check that goes out the window, at that time.
By:
Why would they need to be known, the price will ge bigger on here, so he can fo what he wants with the bet
By:
how many grand cash bets to unknown faces do you think banks takes in a day ?
By:
You pick your winnings up & go,big or small.
You're on a racecourse,not a chat show. |

By:

By:
As many as he can I would guess if the price is bigger on here.
By:
Why wouldn't you, your not talking about laying early price ricks , you are laying on a fully developed market, where you can make a profit
By:
if that were the case he wouldn't have lost anything or very little so no need for banks or the clerk to be upset
By:
I didn't say it was the case here, you are saying he wouldn't lay a thousand to a stranger, imho they all would
By:
Under the above circumstances

By:
after his comments about tax dodging arbers I,m sure banksy would rather swallow 3 bags of sands than become one of those dirty arbers he hates so much
![]() |
By:
From my experience, these things are down purely to human error, as unbelievable as that may seem
By:
Is there any tax free arbers left ?

Dealer.
Never seen any in the shop for donkeys years. Hope you are well. Ronnie. |

I went to a shop once that was £900 short. It turned out someone had put 10 x £100 notes notes in a bundle and doubled it over, placed it in a bundle of 4 £100 bundles of £20 notes. It was stuck in the safe. The cashier then went to pay out a bet, gave him the bundle thinking it was £500, didn't check the notes and the guy ends up with an extra £900.

Must be impossible now Ronnie, apart from the odd occasion on some obscure football match.

banks just said a belter on twitter
