Absolutely wrong and he's right to pursue it.
Twice recently I've been under charged in shops and both times I've flagged they were wrong. Around €40 in total but I has no hesitation in telling they they made a mistake. What goes around comes around imo. |

Was fully expecting one of the books to announce pre York that some one had landed a 7 hoss accumulator.
This un post race is a proper twist. come racing - you may get a Brucie bonus! bollix |

one large at 11/4 as opposed to a ton at that price gets mixed up?

hardly a 'thief' when was handed it.

Not chance in hell of proving any crime - other than possibly wasting police time...

what precentage of punters would say sorry youve made a mistake its only £375. I reckon the majority would just do a runner.

His team member must be an absolute mug. Almost impossible to confuse the two pay outs. You pay peanuts…….
By:
Disgusting imv…..
By:
What type would accept the amount knowing it was wrong…….only a r@dent imo….
By:
i was undercharged 10p in the shop last night aceform...
i told the bloke and paid the extra 10p. |
By:
Yes but you have manners hibb…..brought up properly….well bred…too many undesirable types being bred…
By:
someone once told me...
vermin breeds vermin aceform... i tend to agree with that tbh... (nowt to do with the Banks incident but it's a good soundbyte). |
By:
The country is infested with undesirable species hibb, you couldn’t show them a birds nest…
By:
I can’t believe a person stood and collected that amount knowing fine well it was wrong ffs..
By:
split second decision aceform...
it's a lot of cash to give back imv... not saying it's right but i can understand why they did it. |
By:
I couldn’t,not in a million, when the person received the ticket first thing they would do is check it…..they knew..
By:
nobody's perfect aceform...
like i say split second decision... none of us get everything right 100% of the time tbh. |
By:
You are expecting £350 and a person hands you £3,500 ish…..some split second hibb ..
By:
maybe it was an OAP and they've lost their cold weather heating allowance this winter aceform ?
By:
Once got overpaid at Oxford Dogs.
Gave it back. |
By:
Is possible someone had £50 on a 13/2 winner and it was quickly typed in with an extra zero by mistake? That way the slip would say £500 @ 13/2. Seems the most logical explanation to me.
By:
I returned a bet on a disqualification to Macbet, which was greatly appreciated…..certainly not scared to show face again tbh…..

maybe it was an OAP and they've lost their cold weather heating allowance this winter aceform ? Ah now now hibb…..banks ain’t the circus on the Thames…. |
By:
Pretty sure I would keep the money in these circumstances, does this make me a bad person ?
By:
With the amount of times you manage to get a return, Lochy, I’d hold on to every overpaid one you get!
By:
Dumber and Dumber stating everyone makes mistakes and "split second decisions", you could not make it up given no jockey is allowed either in their imaginary world.
By:
Looking forward to going to Geoff and explaining i meant to have 100 not 1000 on my last bet that lost.
By:
In all seriousness i would not accept it, but how many times do punters make mistakes. And we are never and i mean never given any second chance for a mistake
By:
Take the overpayment then head to confession today for forgiveness.

I can’t see his Twitter feed as I’ve not got an account. I can see his latest post and it sounds like he’s had some replies he didn’t like.
There’s a chance Geoff will see this and respond. If so, did someone have £50 on Magical Zoe at 13/2 and it accidentally got typed in at £500 stake? Is this something that would only be spotted at the end of the day when tallying up the take? |
By:
His (staff's) mistake not the punters. He should take responsibility.
By:
Makes no difference who's mistake stu, a simple case of theft!

Geoff Banks
![]() ![]() ![]() , maybe his lawyer wife can pursue it. |

By my logic racing6699, one of the first definitions I had to learn was the Theft Act 1968 i.e A person who dishonestly appropriates property belonging to another with the intention of permanently depriving the other of it........IS GUILTY OF THEFT!!

By:
You pay someone out too much money by mistake, they claim they never knew what the return was and go and spend it with other bookies and share it around there friends who had a share. it's hardly armed robbery
By:
Taking something that doesn’t belong to you is 100% dishonest…..only the undesirable would take it and run…..
By:
Goes to guilty state of mind and no Court will believe that the punter did not know when the money was being counted in front of him that the return was wrong, maybe an odd £50 or so but no way more than £3K!
By:
So we're meant to believe NOBODY working for Banksy knew or realised a grand bet was taken. Or not as the case is here. Sheer incompetence. He'd wanna have a good look at who he employs. The odd 10er o repayment one can accept and get over. But over 3k?. Clearly the punter wanted a ton on an 11-4 shot. Probably the 4.45 winner. An extra 0 was typed in making it a grand. Easy to do. But when paying out someone must ask... mmmmm don't think we took a grand bet what's going on...
