Mediation? A riot and the authority ushered in mediators? Other foreign authorities would have gone in with batons truncheons, plastic bullets, etc. The number 1 task should have been to quell the riot, and bring peace for the other law abiding residents (not rioters).

Which town will be next? Imagine foreigners against foreigners? And, UK police standing back and allowing mediation to take place whilst the town is burning.

Police did the right thing. Stand back, let it blow itself out, make arrests the next day based on video evidence.

The town did not burn. A police car was flipped and a bus burned out.

Btw did you see this Mail headline? Yes, that Daily Mail.
Moment controversial Leeds Green Party 'Gaza councillor' Mothin Ali heroically stops rioters from burning more things in riots screaming 'there are children in there'

I'm sure people living on the road agree wholeheartedly with that take. The police aren't there to tackle crime, but to sweep up afterwards. yeah, right

The rioters were in control. How'd that be right? Action 1st, then arrest the rioters to show who's in charge; arresting the perpetrators is never in doubt given cctv and police worn cameras.

Quixall can tell an individuals origin purely from accent Leif, I wonder if he would have guessed the little African in Durban Docks in 1963 was not from Glasgow?

Amazed me then as a boy but at least I learned from it!!

My family had a shop on harehills road for 40 years, in the last riots only certain shops were targeted all those shops are closed now, at the time the big cheifs from the mosque came to our shop and appologized
and said our children are out of control that was 20 years ago, if you drive through there these days your taking a chance with your car insurence going up, Beckett Street cemetary is at the start of Harehills Road and there are war graves in there with the stories of the men killed, 100 yards away 24 hours a day on Harehills Road from the top to the bottom it cant be controlled its crazy. The Police who ran away have no teeth i dont blame them if they get the batons they will probably loose their jobs and a big payout to who ever was on the receiving end.

Have they shown different footage outside of the UK as what I have seen shows mostly White people burning the bus etc and mostly Asians cleaning up?

As for the police response or perceived lack of it, seems it was the correct decision to just contain and observe, spread no further did it?

As for them running away ROFL, the lads on the ground are probably jarred off to be pulled back!!!

I read somewhere that the whole thing was all just a diversion, so that a bloke called Mo could sneak off to drown puppies and kittens. tbf I think it was The Daily Mail or The Express on-line where I read this.

I heard everybody involved was called Mo, they all live in the same bedsit (258 of them) and during the riot they stole 6 small boats, some oars and some life-vests from "down the middle" in Lidl.

It was a reporter from Leeds who was at the riot. I'm not in position to substantiate it as fact, which is why I used the caveat 'I heard'. However, there is no reason whatsoever to believe it wasn't true, given the self evident abject humiliation of how the emergency services handled the situation.

When predominately ethnic (ie non white English) people are involved in criminal acts in England, usually there is no shortage of apologists popping up out of the woodwork. They never let you down. We can also be assured of is that the police chiefs will duck out of taking it on.

Or the women's vigil in London, anti lockdown marches, anti islamist marches, St George's Day gathering. If people try to deny the obvious differences, it's simply cognitive dissonance. Who can forget the 'mainly peaceful blm riots, with cops either running away or kneeling.

Thousands of people have joined anti-racism demonstrations across the UK.

The protests, sparked by the death of George Floyd in the US, were held in cities including London, Manchester, Cardiff, Leicester and Sheffield.

In London, protesters knelt for a minute's silence before chanting "no justice, no peace" and "black lives matter".

The majority of the day's protests were peaceful but in the evening there were disturbances outside Downing Street.

BBC home affairs correspondent Tom Symonds said the protest was largely over when missiles and fireworks were thrown at a police line.

Police horses were used to regain control, but one horse galloped ahead and its rider fell to the ground after hitting her head on a traffic light. Her injuries are not life-threatening, the Metropolitan Police said.

Fourteen people were arrested and 14 officers were injured after a smaller group became "angry and intent on violence", the force added.

A total of 27 police officers were hurt during anti-racism protests in London, the Met Police has revealed.

Dame Cressida Dick, Met Police Commissioner, said the attacks were "shocking and completely unacceptable".

Protests on Saturday - sparked by the death of George Floyd - were largely peaceful, but were marred later by disturbances outside Downing Street.

One demonstrator, who was not at Downing Street, saw officers "acting very aggressively" elsewhere.

Muslims took over much of Harehills from West Indians, now Roma and other Eastern Europeans are moving into Muslim areas. There is much tension and little or no love between the two. There is trouble between them in Page Hall, Sheffield, and doubtless other towns. It happened with Albanians and Muslims in Ravensthorpe, Dewsbury
a few years ago, the Albanians were dispersed. These people are not brought up to be bothered about upsetting
Muslims.

The street protests against the Police are very quick and often post any perceived wrongs by Police eg excessive stop-and-search; excessive force on suspects; etc. However, when the foreigners/immigrant groups are causing the disturbance or riot  the same protesters are conspicuous by their absence.

I believe this is a hierarchy thing eg 1st movers get the cream; late-comers share the left-overs. At the moment the Muslims are at the front of this chain.

Unless the Muslims move onto pasture new eg to more desirable and affluent areas the late-comers eg Romanians, Albanians, Afghanistanis, Iraqis, African, etc, will need to muscle in to get some of the spoils; the past 80/90's situation/scenario eg newly arrived Vietnamese migrants muscling into Chinese businesses/criminalities is being repeated in the mid-2020's.

This is a case of survival and progress - a natural progression up the food chain, and respectability. This will be the norm if it's not monitored and dealt with quickly and effectively.

It's the spawn of the immigrants that are most embittered it seems to me. Funnily enough I witnessed that in the Irish as well, many first generation of 'English' born to Irish immigrants tend to be quite embittered. Some of these types of people try to get into leadership roles to inflict the damage, trade unions and the like. And yes, I am the son of an Irish immigrant, so I mix/mixed with a lot of these bitter people. There must be some kind of psychological explanation as many of those peers enjoyed a pretty privileged/fortunate upbringing, England gave them a lot but they remain bitter, would not consider themselves English, would actually balk at the mere suggestion.

The immigrants play the numbers name eg hegemony; hegemony = political representation = power = economic standing = wealth. The UK Plc is the ideal place for hegemony eg hospitable, welfare-minded, locals non-combative and laid-back.

But, other immigrant groups eg Chinese, Turkish, Iranian, Afghanistani, Kurdish are educated and entrepreneurial. These groups will be more than a force to be reckoned with by the Muslims; the Chinese especially are the front-runners in most of their adopted countries in education and commerce. They are also more likely to speak English, non-religious and integrate.

True integration is a fantasy though, I lived with Irish people, went to Irish schools, socialised in Irish pubs and clubs, went to an Irish Catholic church (in London). It's human nature, people will always gravitate to where they feel most comfortable and that's always near people with similar roots, religion and background. I guess whether people think that's a good thing or a bad thing in a 'foreign' country is open to debate, but let's not pretend that people all mix together like some weird coca cola fantasy. It will never happen.

The Irish speak English. They work, and play hard. The Irish are hospitable with a warm heart with no chips on their shoulders; anyone can have a drink and a banter with the Irish. They're also very family oriented, and a close knit community. They are friendly and do not impose their culture, tradition or religion on you.

When: 20 Jul 24 14:05
yes obviously Irish are quite closely aligned with domestic values. 'no chips on their shoulders' - incorrect. You've missed the point really, where I grew up in London was an 'Irish' area. A section of London completely dominated by people from a foreign country. There still isn't the 'integration' that proponents of mass immigration claim. If the Irish didn't integrate, what chance have you got with foreigners who have completely different values, religion, laws and language. feck all.

My own experience was that my mother is Irish and my Father English. So because of my Dad, a lot of my upbringing was English oriented still, even growing up surrounded by Irish. I'm an Irish citizen but definitely view myself as fully fledged English. However most people I grew up with had both parents being Irish, and would still view themselves as Irish even tho born and raised in England.

Regardless of the race of those responsible, the riot squad should have been sent in with

whatever equipment was necessary and arrested any troublemakers.

If these kinds of situations are not dealt with the country will be overrun by mobs.

I'm no 'hawk' in fact I'm a pacifist but there comes a point where law and order becomes

paramount.
By:

When: 20 Jul 24 14:52
But that's the point rog. The police chiefs don't want images or videos of their police force tackling mobs who might not be English heritage. That 'political correctness' or that horrible term 'the optics' are far more important than protecting the safety of people and property in the area.
