The other problem with capital punishment has always be the wrongful convictions issue - we really want to murder some who are innocent with no chance of repeal if they are dead?

No, life in prison is still the best solution, will make them remember the rest of their time on earth, and at least those innocent still have some chance.

stu......they would only be executed if they are 100% proven to have committed the crime....with the advances in DNA there will be no innocent people executed.

Injection that makes them suffer for a few months then gone, or starve them to death, no food or water. i know it sounds barbaric, but eye for an eye and all that.

Please define the difference between
a) beyond reasonable doubt
b)100% proven.

You might like to think that no innocent people will be executed but history suggests it's an impossibility.

Policemen, scientists and "expert" witnesses aren't like the rest of us - they never have their own agenda and they never make mistakes.

And don't forget, they only pick the very cleverest, well balanced and open-minded people to do jury service.

It's almost like some of the problems society faces are quite deep, multi-faceted and complex - and the people that see everything in the most simplistic and one-dimensional terms - black and white terms or left versus right, don't have any of the answers Cry

I suppose they do make up for it though, by sometimes having very good soundbites.
