Just shows regarding Shoemark how much confidence plays a big part in any sport. He's obviously at a low ebb in that regard when riding Gosdens. One big win and it could all change.

I have had a small bet on Audience-my only play at Ascot so far. He won easily enough at Newbury but I can see that he caught them napping by appearing to be a pacemaker. He did run through the line though.

Aurelien Lemaitre has lost the rides on Big Rock and Blue Rose Cen (to Soumillon) and now Ramatuelle (Murphy). The French do not mess about.

Not sure it is strength but he out thought Murphy that time. Oisin should have mugged him on the line but it is easy after.

shoe struggles to settle one in better ,small field races with no pace more about tactics
desperate for big winner
so goes off to fast on ones from the front
holds up hold up horse in midfield ,instead of out the back
etc
trying to simplify everything seems to be complicating everything ,he,s now low on confidence when in reality if you listen to gosden lots of them horse wernt fancied /needed the run etc
or is gosden just trying to protect him and fuming in private ?

He is a decent lad, I hope he has a good Ascot and can kick on from there.

As is always the case on a betting forum a jockey is only ever as good as their last ride   Happy

its not in this case, its whether you,ll back a horse in a big race with him up,its the opposite to  aftertiming,

Totally agree hayden, any winners forgotten, if a shortie loses. He has been an easy target imho

The pilot is never part of my selection criteria 1sttp , anything of note is factored into the 100% book and besides they have good days , they have bad days , just like ourselves in our working days.

What no punter knows though is whether their next ride will be good , bad or average , it's subjective guesswork at best.

if you dont factor in the jockey surely when narrowing a handicap for example down you,ll back ones with the claimers on,7lb for nowt

Wouldn't have an opinion on whether he's anywhere near the best or not Mat , don't regard myself as sufficiently qualified.

Just think that Gosden is no mug but again that's a personal opinion.

Gosdens havent really fired all season 3-32 last 14 days

Shoemark does need a decent R.Ascot as does Gosden to keep the snipers at bay

anyone who thinks Gosden is a mug needs to look at the last 20 odd years and re-evaluate things ffs

1sttp

I've 5 or 6 selection criteria far more important than guessing what side of the bed a jockey got out of this morning and for any selections i always start at the bottom of the odds ladder and work upwards and if i can't find a selection before i reach single digits i put a line through the race , so that means the bigger names like Murphy and Ryan wouldn't be a criteria anyway as they ride relatively few double digit horses.

We all work in different mysterious ways mate but debating jockey skills from one mount to the next is totally pointless and elongated threads after each ride won't change anyone's opinion , the subject will always far too subjective.

Bag the rails and he wins, whip in the wrong hand and lets it drift
By:

When: 13 Jun 24 16:43
Used the whip once, thought he had it won, only used the whip again when it was too late.

If that's Luke Morris in that situation, he makes sure (nap).

When: 13 Jun 24 18:24
morris has already unbalanced it the entire trip so isn't in that situation
By:

When: 13 Jun 24 18:26
Okay, let's try SDS instead

is he giving it one smack then waving his whip, or is he getting 3 or 4 into it and making sure?

Some jockeys would have won on Metaverse today. Shoemark wasn't one of them.
