pumpkin's "dominance" of cheltenham, 48 winners in 25 years, max in any 1 year was 5 in 2009...just isn't comparable to this

He is not scared to run them in good races in Ireland against each other, unlike here keeping them in the stables to look after them.

I know all these horses were short prices, but some look like they are just in 2nd gear. Its quite incredible the fitness of Mullins runners.

mullins 2,3 and 4th so basically mullins tossed the supreme away yesterday

There's nothing quite comparable to Mullins. But as everyone knows, the festival races have been watered down giving far more options to the yard with the strongest hand to play. |

By:
why is mullins so good? most of his best horses are french-bred he must have good connections over there
|
|

this PAULING fav at hunt cost £350,000 and just seen the stable worldie beat a distance by the mullins rags at chelters

The elephant in the room ?
Dope testing in Ire is dire. If they're forced to,only the small trainers are held accountable. The big guys, are untouchable: WHY? Because it would destroy the sport, and in Ireland it's a relatively big industry, compared to the UK. So we carry on with lame excuses like "buying good horses" etc when anyone can go to France with a big cheque book. |

Exactly. "anyone"! He and his owners do it, so why don;t others. They have the same chance.

@LoyalHoncho
There are plenty of French imports in this country;they'e also got the latest facilities;I can't imagine the training skills have vastly improved in Ireland. So what is the missing factor? https://businessplus.ie/news/luke-comer-horses/ https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2017/apr/05/willie-mullins-exonerated-irish-horse-racing-officials-vet-drugs-bust |

Just to be clear I'm against doping everywhere.
|
|

Thats a bit shortsighted mrspock. Going with your logic any old gob$hite could train the sales toppers to win Champion hurldes
Maybe Mullins agents have a better "eye" for the potentially good horses. maybe he has better riders, feed, ability to spot issues. Or this is just a phase and he's getting lucky ... lot of factors. But even if it is down to doping, i'm fairly sure the brits are testing the bejaysus out of all his horses so thats an unlikely scenario. |

Top trainer,Some can't even get 'em there.

unlikely drug testing in racing is half-hearted to say the least |
|
By:
I only mentioned French imports as that's given as one reason for the success; Hendo,Nicholls etc have also been known to import French horses.
And it's not just one trainer; Elliot, De Bromhead and O'Brien's son are doing very well. Just like athletics, the tester's are far,far behind the dopers. Jim Bolger has warned about this. |
|
By:
@MJK Yes there's lot's of parties involved;and they all rely on each other.
|
|
By:
To quote what I was told most arrive at the yard 'looking like beasts'.
vets train them and Mullins is the figurehead? |
|
By:
Mullins obviously trains them, my question was about the period in between.

often Willie's don't seem to progress or to endure. A couple of years from now the two Arkles we saw yesterday will probably be unseating in novice chases.
