Where are the Dorans Pride's nowadays?
By:
It's just an example cider of comparing a well loved against someone who is just respected at best.
Just a sign of the times and the internet era. |
By:
unless you think HANDSTAND for example wouldnt be beaten a distance by those horses if trained in ire/mullins etc, dont see it matters where or who trains the horses

The great Henry Cecil wasn't always "well loved". Indeed, in the early days - if I recall accurately - he was resented quite a bit by old timers who had been very loyal to Sir Noel. He went on to prove himself and other circs. attracted our goodwill and affection.
I admire Willie Mullins just as much for his always effortless courtesy as well as his brilliance as a racehorse trainer. The A.P.'s of this world clearly hold him in affection and I am sure the racing public will too, eventually. |

Are we suggesting that there is a nobbling of the British based horses?
There is dominance, but it never seems to be at any other meeting than this one! They are leg less against the Irish from a mile out. Every year it seems the same? It’s very strange |
By:
Hexham, watch all the Pit Ponies run, they are compared to the Irish
By:
The English Top Trained are Just dreadful , They are not taking part Thus Far
By:
I always wonder at Hexham if, when the jock and horse jump through the hedged archways of a a fence, that one will reappear without the other!
By:
Exactly Case. They're not bad at mopping up uncompetitive races at the gaff tracks with their 6 figure priced beasts though......
By:
that happened a couple of seasons back loyal
By:
craig nichol ridden horse iirc
By:
I didn't know that. Thanks. Hopefully the jock was ok. I can't help but laugh at the thought though.

I don't care if the trainers are Irish,British, straight, gay or Australian. It's the total lack of
competition that's the problem |

Fabiolo wins Books will be stretchered Out

By:
It's not that long ago that Nicholls and Walsh were cleaning up everything, I doubt anyone would claim Nicholls has ever been 'loved'.
By:
Lack of competition is due to the English horses not being good enough, lack of good quality horses running at our courses. The form figures look good but they are running in Sub Standard stuff.
By:
There's always one unbeatable hot-pot goes down.
Isn;t there? ![]() |
By:
Not about English and Irish, it's about Mullins and everybody else.
By:
Nicholls never been loved for sure and probably never will be , hence the constant Pumpkin reference.
By:
Or the Pipe and Scud domination. It's nonsense really, Irish tend to have a siege mentality. And I'm Irish

It's a bit like the F1 on a day like today
You want battles and unknowns and variety Even if Mullins wins 2/3 on the day you want him to be up against some real brutal competition |
By:
the issue for remaining of this year and next year is all these good things from this year will all avoid each other to benefit Mullins.
By:
This is true of all spectacles and sport really. You want teams to be pushed and results to be in doubt until as late as possible in general. Obviously a few brutal wins like Ballyburn are always fine too
By:
wow!
By:
He could go through the card today
By:
on formbook through giovinto, stay away fay should have been a close up 2nd and given winner a race there,if trainers/jocks cant get horses to produce best at chelt, time to give it up
By:
the scary thing is he's missing quite a few that would have been in the mix

To be fair the UK runners are dominating at Huntingdon
By:
English horse won the race at Huntingdon

By:
This is what happens when British racing doesnt make it about the improvement of the Horse, but only about greed and profit.
