You can put a line through Hunters Yarn there. Jacob literally never put it in the race. He put it in last. Then started taking a pull on it half the race (not sure why?) steered it to outside around the whole field then ran on never nearer. Amazing ride really.

1ST Race used free bets on Mistergif, better ground g/s or gd.  Think I will have a dabble win and 7pl on Eldorado Allen generally goes well here, can handle the ground...the negative the weight on the groud.
3.3 7 places taken and win 36

That was nice. Winner at 9.6 ante post and the second at 8.8 a place. Two other losers but all at the same stake so nice race after no show in the first 2. Twig is another example of a silly rumour about the ground pushing a horse out to a daft price. They even said in the paddock that Twig had been laid out for the race!

Agreed Ibrahima. Always look twice at any of his and backed them both today.

Thanks 'FOYLESWAR'. I've had £10 (obliged) only to get fish 'n' chips for tomorrow (if he wins).

Only mistake that Bass made was to ask for a big one at the last and the horse came down a bit steep. All was well.

Luccia is the only exception to the Henderson tale of woe. Iberico pulled up like their runners in the first and second. A no bet race for me as is the next.

Was that the worst CH ever run?

Can't be far off.

SM would have carried katchit on his back

Not talking about worst winner, talking about overall quality of the race.

Katchit's races was much better, even if there were some blow outs.

was extremely thin this year with only 2 horses that should be sighted in a grade 1

Underwhelming and predictable as a race, nobody's fault ,just the way it worked out

It's always better when you have 4 or 5 in single figures for sure. And a few in the 10-20 range who you can make a case for.

At least we have another Mullins 4/7 shot up next.

Pinnacle of the sport apparently!!

I think Luccia was 3rd solely on stamina. She's a stayer, not quite lasting 3m. As such, 2m on heavy allowed her to go past the shorters up the hill.

Willie Mullins has won £304,000 in 3 races which would put him 35th in the GB table just ahead of Rebecca Menzies. He had also won another £300k in the first 10 months of the GB season! Another £100k coming in the next?

Yes, and he has the 2nd and 3rd fav in the market too LaughCry So himself and those in the know will have the inside scoop on which is actually great value

With the fav out of the frame in the first? I suppose most perms would have put Mystical in as well.

Sad state of affairs really.

Hoping the next three days are a bit more interesting.

But then you look at the G1's tomorrow and Mullins has three odds on shots in the first three.

I actually enjoy the handicaps more these days, which i would never have said 20 years ago.

'acey', could you start Cheltenham Day 2? I think you're a more appropriate poster as you know horseracing and punting much more than I do.

Nice to see the Donnellys have won a big one this renewal. Could they do a double with Shishkin come Friday?

Sorry! I was confusing Luccia with Maries Rock who's next next; she'd be the one guaranteed to stays on this heavy ground.

I think Lossiemouth could get turn over. I also think she ought to have run in the previous race.

9 out of 10 of Mullins 6/4 or shorter Cheltenham horses have won, the only loser falling when cruising to victory.
