Reigning champions can run so long as they have qualifying times and as it is only a year between Champs, that is not a problem. Must admit that I didn't know there was any doubt about her running until I saw her name missing from the betting list this morning. I would still make Mu just favourite.
By:
Little is close enough if she's fully recovered and can find a little more improvement to beat a half second sub par performance from Bol. Adding in the chances of a DQ or DNF, (let's say a 2% chance for that) to Rico's original question, personally I don't think 1.06 or 1.07 is a price I'd be steaming into. To answer the original question and giving it some thought, I think adding another 5% is perfectly reasonable.
By:
My most likely scenario is that Bol runs about 52 secs dead, Little can't replicate her semi run and Bol wins by 1 second or more, which is a very long way in 400.
By:
5% is a lot! That is 2.2 seconds over 400m. The average difference between men and women is only 10%. I ran below 2 minutes 1 sec for 800m on 8 occasions but still never broke 2 minutes.
By:
I have to make Mu 3rd fave as the other two appear in peak form, and Mu probably isn't.
By:
I meant a 5% chance, not 5% improvement!
By:
Ah I assumed Mu's reported non participation was due to fitness and prep issues. It appears that is not the case so I take back my earlier comment
By:
It could be prep issues if she is spending time running a fashion business. A bit like Raducanu perhaps, carried away and distracted by early fame. She is still the best athlete in the race if in peak form although Keely will be smarter this time round.
By:
I know it is only heats but Hughes looked so good in the 200m and 19.99 cruising must make Lyles and the others apprehensive.
By:
mens 200m is a very high standard currently and the track is very fast. Might need to run 20 secs just to make the final! Tough ask for Zharnel as we know Lyles and Tobogo are in great form too. That last 20 metres by Tebogo in London was something else.
By:
Both of the other Americans are major threats and could be better than Lyles who has already won the 100.

It does and follows the PP decision to omit Mu from the women's 800 and that is a bookmakers market not an exchange. Is there any rule about an event being won by a competitor not listed in betting markets. Otherwise it is a farce as anyone can omit a runner and if it wins they sweep the pot!
By:
Anyone you know Rico financially involved in these markets where not all the runners are listed ? i cant understand how they are not void, the mens 100m had a far bit of liquidity, i have asked all my pals no one involved, How would they settle if a complete rag did win and not quoted ??

Hello Stephen, I hope you're well. You at 14:01, Aug 23: hi Read You at 14:01, Aug 23: hi.this will be the 3rd time ive made contact about an issue, still not resolved.. Read You at 14:03, Aug 23: Preview attachment Read Karl at 14:03, Aug 23: I'm sorry to hear that, Stephen. Before we proceed, may I please have your mother's maiden name and your date of birth? You at 14:05, Aug 23: k Read Karl at 14:12, Aug 23: Thank you for your patience here, Stephen. We have been informed that the market is now completed and cannot be changed. If a person who is not listed on the market wins, then all selections will be settled as losers. You at 14:12, Aug 23: ok ty Read You at 14:13, Aug 23: so if bet a runner who finishes 2nd and the race is won by a runner who wasnt listed i lose my bet Read Karl at 14:14, Aug 23: That is correct, if you're only betting on the winner market. You at 14:15, Aug 23: so that means betfair have 4 unlisted runners and if one of them wins everyone loses their money? is that really what you're telling me? Read Karl at 14:16, Aug 23: Not exactly, as you can still lay the current selections, in which case your bets would win. You at 14:17, Aug 23: karl with respect thats not what im asking,if i bet the odds on fav and an unlisted runner wins the race and the fav is 2nd i will lose my money? Read Karl at 14:18, Aug 23: In that case, you will lose your money. However, you still have the option to lay that same selection should the odds be in your favour. You at 14:19, Aug 23: absolutely incredible answer tbh..but thanks for clarifying. |

That is just theft. I assume that the missing name in the 1500 are outsiders but in the Womens 800, Mu could start favourite and win unbacked!
By:
, as i said i think they are just making it up as they go with the Athletics, cant be right can it. |
By:
I can understand not wanting to add runners in the market after they've already taken bets but to say every bet's a loser if one of them wins is tbh ludicrous.
If this question went to say the head of trading rather than someone who's just answered without consulting because it's what that numpty thinks , then i'm sure the answer would be to insert " betting without these 4 named runners " and common sense would previal. Would be a no brainer even for IBAS. Best of luck guys ![]() |

As someone who bets extensively on Cycling on here - this is not that uncommon when you have 150-200 runners and official startlists are not all that official (not an excuse here, mind). I've seen a few occasions where the winner was added to the market when the race was 90% done and a few more where the winner wasn't ever put in the market (all lays win).

tonights action.
Mens 1500m Jakob Ingebrigtsen @1.14 is supreme value imo a 1.06 chance...only way he gets beat is if its a crawl and he gets outsprinted..unlikely. mens 400hurdles...warholm the obv most likely winner but isnt a gimme..looks only 3 possibles. womens 400m ..paulino also looks the obv winner..looks 3 possibles..adeleke cab be laid @20..cant see her winning. gl. |

Betfair should be awarded the most hideous sports rule of all time....
As 'Any Other' is NOT quoted, non-featured selections may be added to this market on request. Once 'Any Other' is listed no further selections will be added. Should alert IBAS of this rule irrespective of what happens in the discussed event. Basically anyone placing a bet before the addition can't possibly win providing the addition wins when entered during play. I've heard it all now ![]() |
By:
I agree that if they want to do this, they have to specify a list that are not included and if one of the named selections is second to an unnamed one, it has to be a winning bet for those who back the second like any other "without" bet. We are not talking about ante post here which is quite different.
By:
Why don't they just add the other runners, seems simple.
By:
cos market has been formed..should of added 'any other runner' to cover their backs..mens 400m hurdles only has 7 runners.

You given up on chat Rico.

The markets are formed sort of semi ante post style
In the old days one email was enough to get runners added and then betfair became pretty good at forming complete markets, they really have become 2nd rate with this and customer services. Pull yer finger oot betfair! |
