Observational. Now link your data.

A lot more young people and "fit" athletes.

Evidence to back that up?

The evidence, recently made public by the UK Department for Education, shows the justification for the new mask rule relied on data collected during October 2021 when cases were surging because of the Delta variant. Researchers examined 123 UK schools who enforced mask mandates and compared them to 1,200 schools that did not, and the results were statistically insignificant.

You should have read it more carefully--

Evidence shows that face coverings can contribute to reducing transmission of COVID-
19 primarily by reducing the emission of virus-carrying particles when worn by an infected
person. The direct COVID-19 health risks to children and young people are very low.

Own goal I think.
By:

When: 08 Jan 23 13:44
Hardly. This was the UK government desperate to introduce mask mandates for political reasons. The actual data shows that the proportion of covid positives were exactly the same in those kids forced to wear them, and not.
By:
Cider
When: 08 Jan 23 13:46
Schools with mask mandates saw their average absence rate fall by 2.3 percent to 3 percent over three weeks, according to the study. Schools without masks mandates saw the absent rate fall by 1.7 percent to 3.6 percent.

There is a level of statistical uncertainty around the result,” researchers admitted.

If you were struggling to cope with this realisation, or in any way unsure, this is a direct quote from the study.

Prior to weighting, the schools in the treatment group have a wider spread of COVID-19
absence rates compared to the control group.
After weighting, the spread of COVID-19
absence rates in the control group is more similar to that of the treatment group, creating
a more like-for-like comparison for the difference-in-differences analysis.

Even masks made from simple cotton fabrics are predicted to
reduce transmission of respiratory viruses, unless transmission is dom-
inated by sub-micrometer droplets. As masks are cheap, and wearing a
mask is a relatively minor inconvenience compared to contracting
SARS-CoV-2, recommending mask use is a simple way to reduce
transmission.

This is from the actual report, dave. Can you cope with interpreting this?

absence rates compared to the control group

It looks like your link is a technical analysis of the construction of various face coverings. It is absolutely not a randomised real world trial, and has no real world data to interpret.

If someone sitting opposite me has a cold, covid, flu or similar and is coughing, spluttering and sneezing all over the place it surely doesn't need a scientific study to prove I'd be less likely to be infected if both our faces are covered.
By:

When: 08 Jan 23 14:12
haha, well the accusation that covid jabs didn't stop you getting covid was a conspiracy theory. Golden times, eh.

Are you still wearing face coverings in public, JML? To protect the public, not yourself.

By:

We don't live in a lab though, swifty. If you are someone prone to catching colds, as many are, you'll get your annual cold, face covering or not. Leading a normal life will mean you'll probably come into contact with some type of respiratory infection dozens of times a year. All the kids going to school will catch whatever is going around, masked up or not.
By:
dave1357
When: 08 Jan 23 14:20
Cider you aren't going to explode if you admit that facemasks reduce the transmission of droplets that can be potentially infectious.

Spot on, Swifty. Imagine this as a question in some health and safety test….

Do you think wearing a face mask would…

A) Reduce the risk of spreading infection
B) Increase the risk of spreading infection
C) Make no difference

I’m no scientist but know which answer I’d pick.

It should be obvious to the thickest of thickos that an effective mask worn correctly will reduce the spread of virus infected droplets. Anyone disputing that is either stupid or like Cider has an agenda, the use of the phrase "face nappie" being an indicator. You can have a debate about whether the majority wearing poor quality masks or scarfs etc or not bothering to cover the nose makes the exercise futile. Also worthy of debate is where the majority of transmission takes place. Is it in settings where masks aren't worn e.g. homes.

effective mask, what is one of those?
How long is it 'effective'?
Does everybody have to wear a correctly fitted 'effective mask' at the same time for it to work?
What is one person touches their mask with contaminated hands or adjusts it for comfort

Do you really believe in your peabrain that 70 million people can afford £5 masks fresh everyday & follow extremely strict protocols & NEVER deviate???

You people are thick as fook

Then you have disabled people, autistic people, all unable to follow the protocols... and small children

let's be generous, say using a face mask technically reduces the risk of each interaction with a respiratory virus by 50%. The same odds as tossing tails on a fair coin.

but you have to toss the coin 20 times a year, and get tails each time.

which out of your option, A,B and C would you now pick?

Nearly three years on from when this sh*tshow and scamdemic started, such was the power of the psy-op job done on the population by these evil psychopaths, that supposedly grown men are still pushing for others to wear face nappies, to make themselves feel safer.

Weak men, who have allowed themselves to be walked all over, for a disease with a 99.9% survival rate and an average average of death of 83.

Economy destroyed, NHS destroyed, Childrens' futures destroyed.
