Amazon prime, total viewers, couple of hundred. Win the Ryder Cup , a 5-point scorer could take it, bit of an if though.

If the overriding trait is personality then she should win spoty hands down.

I got on at 4/1-ish but as @swiftynifty says, her US Open win (assuming she does win) on Amazon Prime will have been seen by three men and a dog.

So while Emma deserves to win, my guess would be top 3 this year and SPotY winner next year after she's won Wimbledon on Her Majesty's BBC 1.

Which is basically what happened to Andy Murray. 2012 won US Open; 2013 won Wimbledon & SPotY.

The Currant Bun says Amazon might tie up with another broadcaster to show it live, but meanwhile has sold the BBC highlights rights, which will help a bit with SPotY.

@portmanpark -- as far as I know, Betfair Live Video won't have it but check the tennis forum.

And as the Sun article says, there are still discussions going on.

Come to think of it, you can probably start a month's free trial of Amazon Prime. If you do, remember to cancel it when your time is up or it will roll over automatically and start charging.

Greg rusedski?

Sadly tennis is still non inclusive. A poor kid has no chance of getting into it. Thats why we rely on imports. The last great female tennis hope was an aussie

Her Canadian opponent was admittedly born in Montreal - but her father is from Ecuador, her mother is a Filipino and she herself now lives in Florida.

As mentioned Emma was born in Canada to a Romanian father and Chinese mother and she resides in England.

So both players have an association with four countries each, Canada being the only common denominator.

She moved to England when she was 2. I think she can be called English. She certainly sounds English. As for Johanna Konta, her parents clearly moved here to get the British funding. And the England rugby team and cricket team are full of definite non-English.

Djokevic flirted wiv gaining British nationality early on in his career and as has been mentioned its happened time and time again in many sports - remember the Irish footy teams of late 80s-early 90sLaughLaughLaugh

I think international sport should be way more strict on qualification. Birth or parent only for me.

I'd never heard of her til this thread started sparrow. I'm a disinterested party regarding sport, but there are global nomads these days, Mo Farrah another one. She's decided to call herself British and we've allowed it, it's like a marriage of convenience. She might be living somewhere else like Mo when she's made it.
