In what way I am naive? Please educate me.

It is my belief that most bets on here are not matched peer to peer but are matched against the in-house bot. The point is that I don't think the bot should have an extra second to decide whether to match my bet. If I click on a price I want my bet matched at that precise time, not one second later when circumstances have changed.
Do you disagree with that? |
|
By:
The issue is whether they are operating fairly
|
|
By:
its a business jack..now a skilfully honed bot..and it will eradicate most people fairly easily.
|
|
By:
I don't believe they are which is why I want the 1 second delay removed. Now you tell me if there is anything you disagree with and we can have a debate if you think you are up to it.

you can have a million that happens

I didn't say I expect it to happen. In fact, I was surprised when they asked for opinions on the forum about removing the the delay a couple of years ago. I said I want it to happen to make things fairer and more transparent, but I won't be holding my breath. Betfair always seem to take the short term view on how to maximise their profits.

Sadly I have no new update, the new stream seems to be a few weeks away yet. A quick question Does this mean that you have been informed its still actively being planned |
|
By:
Can i get a price everything is magically sorted around the time the public are allowed back?
|
|
By:
what would the relevance in that be?
|
|

Bootman - I would be massively against suspending the current faster feed, it just puts us further behind our hardest competitors.
The multiple drones and callers at tracks are already around 1sec ahead at RacingTV and 1.5secs ahead at Sky tracks so putting ourselves around another 0.5 behind is madness. Also as people have said, its naive to think someone wont get a faster stream anyway. |

there are 4-5 drones squads..many callers trackside..still ft at selective tracks where big screen is accessible..only needs 1 faster clicker to make it look impossible.

Thanks for the replies.
The new low latency stream is still actively planned, though when we eventually get it is another question. I have written to both parties saying that we have been very patient waiting for more than 2 months for RTV to get the stream right. If it's still not ready, take the graphics off and give us the stream we had in February until such time as it's sorted. Otherwise the drones, facetimers et al are just going to continue to stifle a great product. There is a meeting between Betfair and RTV tomorrow, hopefully Betfair will provide an update, |

thanks bootman

thanx bootman....
i have yet to discover anyone who replied in the RTV survey months ago that they wanted the silly graphics... certainly nobody i know wanted them then or wants them now... strange how the ATR LV comes graphicless but RTV feels we need graphics to tell us things like 'the jockey has won this race 0 times in the last 5 years'.. absolutely laughable imv... |

-------------------------------------------------------------------------- come to think of it... have you asked that Q bootman...? |
|
By:
The irony being that unless anything has changed since the lockdown (and post Flash) ATR don’t have graphics and yet are even slower than RTV LV that do have graphics.
The principle of the logic to this matter should be very simple; anything that delays the actual picture speed of either actually encourages the black market. The LV in general shouldn’t be the vehicle that informs gamblers as to their selection, that sort of information is available elsewhere, the role of the LV is to offer as fast a service as possible showing the race...that’s all. It reminds me of the ‘smart TV’, that combo device that tried to be a tv, a music system and a sort of computer....it was awful at all three things. Specialised equipment should focus on doing their most important job. |

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ correct dustybin... not only does it encourage a black market... the lowlife's and vagabonds demand a black market so they have an 'edge' as they call it... |

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- absolutely correct also dustybin... |

I'd still like them to tell me why they cant have, as part of their established online video, a no frills fast product that costs say £20 per month access, or £10 to RTV channel subscribers?
They obviously dont know the sort of money swilling around paying for boxes, drone or FT pics eachday. |
|
By:
their website should have a super fast dedicated feed either to every track or the RTV feed as per ch426...
the feed they have on at the moment is from the dark ages... an added £10 or £20 per month would be well within most folks pocket... no idea why they don't do it... all seems very strange to me... and i'm still not convinced ch426 or ch874 is as fast as it could be... especially ch874... |
|
By:
Well, RTV is owned by the racecourses. Perhaps they're making so much from the boxholders that they don't want to rock the boat. (I'm being semi-facetious here.)
|
|
By:
not making much from them since March...
and unlikely to make much from them for a while yet i would suggest... |
|
By:
Even if it were down to that (and I'd be skeptical)
They and the courses are on an ever more difficult battle against providers of illicit pics Chasing ft'ers, slowing certain screens or trying to find and stop drone users. It's a simply way of redirecting all that revenue into the pockets of 'racing' |
|
By:
the black market pictures provided by vermin must be a huge some of money...
money that could easily be kept in racing and added to prizemoney or improving facilities at racecourses... very strange it doesn't happen imv... |

i/r betting is playing like it's a Monday card never seen liquidity so dire on a Saturday, but to be fair these are the worst i/r tracks by a country mile to play on Betfair LV

Played excellently for me with pics off the telly.
Ties in with what jamesdean keeps saying - when the Betfair live video goes down, so do the raw pics THEY are using Could just be coincidence though. |
|
By:
I was watching via T426 and seems the suspend guy must be working off their live feed as the 2:30 went in play very late and suspended well after the runners had past the winning post compared to the TV pictures.
