I would have liked to have seen STS go for the Triple Crown. Unfortunately it's probably dead over here now unlike US where the 2015 Belmont was massive.

I wasn’t going racing when Nijinsky won the triple crown but did see oh so sharp win all 3 which was great but not quite the same,it’s something I would love to see before I pop it,Camelot of course came close and I do think whilst Aidan is training we have a chance. |

Watching all those great races makes you realise the quality of the runners in the 2000 Guineas many fabulous horses beaten ,what an enjoyable hour.
That said I am now even more fed up of course today should have been 2000 Guineas day  |

All I could suggest is that he lost for the same reason as Giant's Causeway in the QE II against observatory...in that he was too far away from his much inferior rival do anything about it - And, as you say...the much under-rated King's Best was breathtaking when he beat the aforementioned Giant's Causeway. |

Speaking of Chester...does anyone remember a race from the 80's in which a photo was shared between Mountain Kingdom & Geordie's Delight?
I wish I could say I watched it as my mate still rates it as one of the best finishes he's ever seen - that's probably just to wind me up as he remembered that my other video failed to record that day when racing was on BBC & Ch4, and I've not seen it since. |

That was in really heavy going at Chester, 11 and a half furlongs.
Mountain Kingdon went on the finish runner up to Reference Point in the 1987 St Leger. Steve Cauthen on board I would think. |

Don't you remember what a pain it was years ago having to flick between BBC & Ch4, often missing a good race? Once it was gone, that was it...never to be seen again! I actually missed a Royal Ascot race once many years ago because I loathed how much the BBC coverage devoted itself to the most boring of sports, cricket - and the premier meeting was just an interruption I turned over as I preferred adverts to cricket, in the middle of some shíte like Quincy. I always recall the BBC anchors looking almost apologetic that they had to leave coverage from The Oval for a minor intrusion like The St James' Palace Stakes! |

I wonder what price kings best would have gone in running if it was available back then ,I would suggest a very big price ,I think his manner of victory was every bit as good as the more famous ones ,it doesn’t seem 20 years ago the Queen arrived at the Rowley mile to open the new facilities the day he won the 2000 Guineas . |

Foxy - King's Best was such a huge 'might've been' Comprehensively outclassed Giant's Causeway on the day but I do suspect he wasn't at his best in the Spring of that season. |

Whether Sheikh Mo actually named Geordie's Delight is, perhaps, open to conjecture. Interesting story to the horse, though... Ran just once - unplaced - as a 2-year-old for Trainer - John Ciechanowski - However John Ciechanowski did train for Sheikh Mo, and is also listed as having Maktoum-Al-Maktoum as an owner in Horses-in-Training, too Transferred to Lester Piggott for 1986 season - after Piggott had retired at the end of 1985, and taken up training. GEORDIE'S DELIGHT was Lester Piggott's first Winner as a Trainer - in the Banstead Maiden Stakes at Epsom on Wednesday April 23rd 1986. |
