Nothing will happen until the end of May.No let offs between now and then once the x2 Bank holidays have passed then there will be a loosening of the measures .
No harm planning though.... |

With no crowd in attendance could there not be just one ambulance?

Lock down for another month? Seems a little crazy to me. I think they may lose a lot of goodwill from the public by then.

By:
its april ,end of june been rumoured is 2 months
By:
Are we talking the start of racing?

Depends how old you are. I am rather afraid that the lockdown for me at 76 will get tighter and last for 12 months. At the moment I still get out for long walks and a weekly shop. A new report has recommended that lockdown will only be lifted for those under 40 who are far less likely to die but those over 60 will be liable to fines if they leave their house and that could be until a vaccine is available.

no end of lockdown

Arena courses require three ambulances to be present.
By:
BHA. October 2019.
Ambulances 3. Managing Executives/Point-to-Point Organising Committees must ensure the provision of the minimum resources, as follows: a) Flat meetings – two paramedic ambulances b) Jump meetings – two paramedic ambulances plus one other vehicle which may be a paramedic ambulance or Rapid Response Vehicle (RRV) c) Point-to-Point meetings – two paramedic ambulances d) Ambulance crews – each ambulance vehicle crewed by two staff. One must be a paramedic and the other a paramedic, ambulance technician, emergency care support worker, emergency care assistant or St John’s emergency transport attendant. A rapid response vehicle (RRV), if used, should be crewed by a paramedic. All ambulances (other than RRVs) must be capable of transporting an injured rider to hospital whilst being appropriately monitored and treated. During emergency transfers the ambulance driver must be someone trained and insured for emergency driving. The entire course must be accessible by an ambulance vehicle at all times and this may include the use of a 4x4 vehicle subject to the course ARA. |

Personally I think the lock down is all but finished. Probably another week after the 7th but everything is opening up again. I do agree Sageform that they will recommend the over 70's (maybe over 60's) to maintain a personal isolation regime for a while but I don't think it will be enforced by a law. I hope they have the common sense to ensure services and support are available for the vulnerable groups.
By:
Not this year they dont, Tiger. One of many luxury 'rules' that'll be quickly dumped..
By:
LOL if you think lockdowns ending a week after the 7th tune in at 5 and your going to extremely disappointed. no chance
By:
Whats happening at 5? I can see you are quite excited about it!
By:
the great man everyone wanted back to fill them full of joy and plan,s to end lockdown,is going to tell you he,s in no hurry to end anything
By:
Let's hope we can get these tests going and get this virus under control. Looks like lockdown until at least June.

I think that the existing rules are being "clarified" all the time but I can't see them being changed for another month. B&Q have reopened, a short drive is now allowed before exercise which I am taking advantage of, people are allowed to gather in the street to clap at 8pm on Thursdays. None of this was happening at the start but the "rules" have not been changed. The 8pm gathering is considered obligatory but is standing outside in 10 degrees C. close to other people a sensible risk for a 76 year old? Crazy.

sageform as I said in my earlier post there is more chance of the hubs starting racing first. Ascot has a massive logistical issue with horses and people coming from all over the place. The Ascot horses are also primed and ready for such a prestigious meeting. Lingfield and Newmarket have onsite hotels so may be a bit easier for them to contain things. Epsom and Newmarket classics will be tricky as they are huge for the bloodstock industry. Racing also runs the risk of coming out the stalls to early and setting itself further back.

By:
Let's be honest. The longer the lockdown the better chance of a new spike in cases and a better chance of a re-lockdown which would destroy the economy.
By:
London bridge clap has been stopped
there,ll be no end of lockdown till mobile app, track and trace is up and running, which is 3/4 weeks away minimum and theres no spikes anywhere in Europe during those 4 weeks |
By:
No new spike in cases I meant.!
By:
let's see what boris brings up on today's briefing
By:
Well I suppose it depends on your interpretation of lock down. For many it has had very little effect but to try and keep families in flats and small houses in a strict lockdown for another month will never work. All the fast food chains are opening and I know the NHS is well in control.

Good point Trident its a fine balance. I do not think they will be a great deal of movement till Furlough is completed at the end of June.

Yeah the word lockdown is used a lot, restrictions would be better. Look at least most of us can still go for a walk bike ride to the shops, not like some countries.
By:
lockdown/no lockdown makes very little difference to me .besides my parents and grandkids, but I wont be making any decisions on when I think its safe to see them on anything shakehands and a rabble of a cabinet says
By:
good pointjordan money already accounted for
By:
tbh I think racing has a better chance than a lot of things
its fairly remote , needs few to man it , and has tory support Regarding exit , I think everything is being given an estimate regarding R value , like for example cafes opening would raise it by 0.2 etc etc , and any exit strategy will be based on lowest risk of increasing that number higher I would imagine racing would have an extremely low effect on R value , esp behind closed doors cant see may tho , will be a lockdown month I imagine with minimum easing maybe to help people cope more , like it or not its what the public want going by polls and general feel |
By:
We all I guess have opinions on racing/life here! Guess we all must lean into uncertainty. And the main thing stay well.
By:
Restrictions yes, lock down I'm not sure. For instance will people be encouraged to go back to non essential work. It's a fine line anyway and everyone at home is costing the government money. I know what you are saying about the Furlough but with France and Germany opening up, not to mention America we need to start getting some production going.
By:
germany seen a rise in infection as soon as lockdown ended so thinking now about extending it last I read
By:
I would imagine the public could list a 1000 things they,d want relaxing, and racing wouldn't be one of them,if you think doris is going to csrry on advising people to stay away from parents, grandparents.granfkids but give special exemption for people to punt on horse racing, your barking imo
By:
they still getting pelters ,inquiry over holding chelt 6 weeks ago and you think they,.ll risk a dpike on the back of horse racing resuming
By:
That was a couple of days ago and nothing has come of it. Just scaremongering to keep the unwashed on their toes!!!
By:
If racing is to get started then there will be a need to reduce travellng so i'd assume you would need racecourses close to recognised training centres and easily accessible
Newmarket obviously / Thirsk or Ripon (close to the Yorkshire stables) and A1M / an other; perhaps Wolves (Midlands) or somewhere like Newbury (better for Southern stables) Obviously there will still be distance travelling by some but if there is a logistical plan then Gov't may look favourably on some early action |
By:
Been nicely placed about 3 times in that June 1st market but kept getting bullied out of it.

behind close doors, betting shops shut, few thousand with ruk,why would government be even considering starting racing so multi milionaires can race their horses,of all the shops on the high street that people would like to see open, betting shops wouldn't register majority of country want them shutting permanently not opening up 1st after a lockdown
By:
B&Q opening up is a good thing because people can go out and buy stuff for their gardens which is a positive activity that can raise spirits.
There are so many (in normal life) daft things that need to be satisfied going forward, imagine if you have a row of shops open, everyone queuing outside whilst social distancing is being observed, there won't be enough room on the pavements to accommodate everyone, you've also got to think of the people just walking up and down the streets amid all this. ![]() |
By:
The other thing that, like it or not, racing has against it is that the public perception of the sport is a proper negative one, with plenty of Joe Public, encouraged by some media outlets (BBC) citing the festival as costing lives. When hoping for a restart date, you can add on a few more weeks on that front alone.
By:
I don't think that is true. Its not about multi millionaires its about trainers and staff etc. Betting is here for a long time yet and punters will continue to line the pockets of the multimillionaires by proving the money they need to finance their sport whether they do it in the high street or on line.
