At the moment racing is suspended to sometime near the end of April so the BHA has to plan for a resumption then or another date after that and to inform the racing industry what those plans are. If they didn't make contingency plans everyone would be on their backs for not being prepared

Health chief says we must stay locked down until JUNE: UK could be made to remain at home for nearly three months to avoid worst effects of coronavirus and practice social distancing until October.

“significant period” of lockdown. Im thinking at least until August just to be safe.

When: 29 Mar 20 10:23
it's not just the lockdown, some stuff will be allowed over a staggered period to resume, but anything that draws on the nhs/police may have to wait longer, just because peak is over will not mean the nhs is clear, ambulances will be in high demand for months, police/army may be used for a long time past peak also, you may be allowed to go to work for eg but doesn't mean they will let racing restart

Willie, after your premium charge gets taken out what sort of odds would you be getting?

Someone on here said its the premium charge that is preventing the people on this thread who are convinced totally that racing is not starting May 1st.

They are talking like its a 1.01 so shouldn't they wade in anyhow?

Yes 6.20

No 1.18

I must admit, No 1.18 looks a massive price to me, but I haven't played on this market!

If there is no horse racing presumably there will also be no football which will mean a lot of the smaller clubs will not survive and also many people within the racing industry would be financially finished so the sport would look very very different if that was the case

TNM, this is what I keep reading.
People who are totally convinced yet are not betting.
What's holding them back apart from prem charge?

On some  grounds any form of Racing shouldn't be back on until the picture drastically improves given the pressures on medical staff but the whole fabric of racing is at risk the longer it goes on, some of the smaller owners will simply stop paying the bills..... then what and can all of the UK racecourses survive this?........

Look at the States some really bad numbers coming out of there but some are still racing  even if behind closed doors although some have decided to cancel.

The AW will be back on behind closed doors as soon as it possibly can to get some sort of activity going and prevent a mass exedous from the sport but when that 'as soon as possible is'  will be a very tough decision to make.   Was reading yesterday that Mr Sunak is very tuned into racing circles and totally gets how the whole industry fits together so that has to be a positive for the whole indusry.

Yes 5.80

No 1.20 (and there is £5330 to back)!

I'm amazed!
By:

When: 29 Mar 20 13:34
I would have to be a small  layer at 1.2 TNM on the basis that the industry are working towards 1st May resumption even if that on the AW behind closed doors........ that is why the price will be holding up so well..... plenty of swings before then am sure like the Cheltenham market

With the country shut down, and whats happening with this virus to peoples lives, the chances of racing resuming in May are Nil imo. And even with complete saftey measures in place, public perception would tarnish Horse Racing for good if able to race.

People are yarning for normality already so I don't know Trident
By:

When: 29 Mar 20 13:47
We are not talking about full blown racing as we know it...... effectively AW racing has always been behind closed doors with the crowds they get so if it was to continue it would be going on in it's own insular way but would at least allow some TV coverage........ Proper racing with crowds as we know it unfortunately appears many  months away

they've just told you this will be a lot worse by May.  you're not listening, please forget about the horses coming back (and the football), it's not happening for a long time.  make sure you and your family are safe.  people don't want to bet on this as there's no guarantee this place will be here by May, the situations changing daily.

surely there comes a point where normal life has to start again? they were talking last night on sky news suicide will be  more of a threat than corona virus shortly!!!  the goverment bailout or people claiming universal credit is 2 month away!! if theres no light at the end of the tunnel lives will be lost they are aware of this

only thing normal at the moment is major airlines continuing to fly thousands of covid victims into british airports from hotspots such as new york, spain, italy, iran and china.

Spain has been on a full lockdown for over 2 weeks and they are getting their wn orst death figures since it started, another 800 odd last 24 hours. our present situations aint changing soon.

Madness. Anyone stranded outside the UK esp non-British nationals at the moment ought to be asked to sit it out until situation gets better. My impertinent question would be what were they doing out there in the 1st place esp those who'd travelled out for holiday in the last 2/3 weeks? I do not want to see Covid-19 imported into the country.

If the media were to be believed Spain might have badly underestimated the severity and ferociousness of Covid-19. Also, their health service is not as robust as others in the world.
