There's no doubt that the split screen situation is even worse than many of us predicted. I never expected it to happen on a Sunday.

How come the gap between races at all 4 courses was only 30 minutes all day?
First race was at 12.15 and the last at 15.35 so a bit of leeway there. |

foxy,Irish racing was a "free" channel (Included in sports package) and available everywhere,now it's a pay per view which is always going to deter the casual viewer of which there were many,also ATR went big on Irish racing with on site people (camera crew with Presenters etc) whereas now it's almost an afterthought on Racing TV.

I very happy with the coverage on racingtv punchestown obviously yesterday’s coverage wasn’t idea but nobody died it was just one of those things ,I mainly watch the dedicated channel which suits me ironically yesterday there was problems with that although thankfully it was back up in time for me to watch the hilly way chase without interruption.

Which is why I ask about virgin it is now in our area and I was considering changing but no chance if it doesn’t allow me to watch the meeting of my choice,

Just one of those things? How anyone could see Sunday as anything other than a disaster is beyond me. Can anyone copy Noel Meade's (who was against the original switch) Racing Post comments? |

Where did I say I was happy about Sunday ?
I said Sunday wasn’t ideal ,on the whole I am very happy with racing tv I get to see all the best racing other than royal ascot which I go to for the week anyway,replays when ever I want,I can choose to watch which ever meeting I wish to live from the course,many free days racing throughout the year including many over the winter period which really suits me,on Saturday at Aintree I received complementary tea,coffee,cookies and a race card ,they have by a million miles the best racing pundit there has ever been and all that for less than a score a month,yes Sunday wasn’t ideal the borders national took over 9 minutes to race delays everywhere it happens,I will not let it spoil the rest of my life,yes I am very happy with racing tv. Regarding Noel meades views I would fully respect them and he would have a much better idea than me on its effect on Irish racing. |

Apparently Meade labelled Sunday's coverage as a disaster yet in January he was talking a little bit different to that.
"Leading trainers Noel Meade and Ger Lyons have called for patience and urged racing fans not to view the new-look Racing TV too harshly following the channel’s opening broadcast of Irish racing on New Year’s Day. RTV, the new home of Irish racing, showed Fairyhouse and Tramore as well as four meetings in Britain, which meant a lot of the Irish action was shown on a split screen and the start of some races missed completely. That was inevitable given the busy schedule, according to Lyons and Meade, who believe only in the fullness of time can the move from At The Races to RTV be properly dissected". |

I don't think I've enjoyed a day of racing with less than I did on Sunday. Just couldn't get involved as racing merged into one awful mess. For a reasonable good 4 card race day, I can only think turnover was way down. Two Racing channels whereby on busy days (Ireland and UK are on own channels) should be a must for the benefit of paying customers and the industry in general.

I haven't got the quotes but pretty sure that Meade was one of the figures who initially expressed concerns about the switch.
Basically, in the quote above he is only saying let's see what happens. He has done that and perfectly reasonably declared it a disaster. |

Perhaps rather than a split screen which I think we all agree suits nobody why don’t they show one race live then the other in its entirety straight afterwards?
