I'll gladly assassinate any tipsters who make money from the game just bring up some more names and I'll be there.

Not sure where the 'character' bit comes in? Surely anyone is allowed an opinion?

Nobody is stopping glowing references although it would be nice to know whether they are from chums/subscribers.

At least I don't need a freebie to give an opinion.

If he is the same guy from ATR he wasn't much good.He was about 45 to 50 with curly hair and glasses. Was a really nice guy but would put you in workhouse if you followed his tips.

The description sounds about right. I don't remember him on ATR which isn't a great sign. Obviously, he has since jumped ship.

I am open minded to any pundit but they need to add something, particularly on a specialist channel, that with a little effort I can't do myself. That something is an assessment of fitness and on that score he didn't deliver at all. If you can't do that there isn't much point actually being on track. Personally, I am not really bothered if any pundit 7 winners or 7 losers although credibility wouldn't exactly be enhanced by the losers.

"Nothing wrong with napping a 7/2 shot each way (even if many can't get on)"

Not sure about that, presumably as a pro he can't get on. Nevison regularly goes on about "thieving each way bets" when we all know they are not generally available.

It's a scandalous scenario this selective bet acceptance which isn't about money and a total shambles.
Was telling someone about the David Evans scenario yesterday he can get £6000 on and a bigger price whilst us not in the game struggle to get £6 on at a shorter price and they're training the horses.

7/2 shot each way could be good value but not impressed tipping that price each way in a competitive handicap at fifth the odds.

I can honestly say I've NEVER EVER backed a horses ew below 5/1 in my 28 year betting life and not at 5/1 in the last 11 years,Birchy used to tip 9/4 shots ew  sure if anyone attempted the same they'd be restricted immediately.

.... didn't think so.

DD , an accurate assessment of fitness would be very useful but firstly how would ANYONE know this about several runners from different yards ? Secondly if anyone HAD great knowledge of this I suggest they would keep it to themselves. Really you can't hope for anything more than a good judge of horses ability.

Unless you go racing every day, and get to know how the horses from each yard tend to look when they're fit and when they're backward, then you're almost better off ignoring the paddock.

Few punters go every day now, because of this place, and probably even fewer tipsters.

hulk23: Mark Holder had a go at that sort of thing - his adverts used to feature himself sporting Raybans and too much hair gel, standing beside a red sports car outside a mock-Tudor new-build.

I always wondered whether there was a further photo featuring the owner emerging from his front door and chasing the perky protipster away.

always ensure your protipster claims to live in a mock-Tudor new-build before parting with your cash ..

If you have a working knowledge of horseflesh then I would have thought it was far from impossible to tell if a horse was likely fit or not. Yes, you are never going to get it right every time. You are right there is no point bluffing as several on RUK try to do. Morrison was one of the few who seemed to have some idea in that direction but it appears RUK have kicked him into touch.

One of 60 who qualified from over 3000 entries for the last Racing Post Champion Tipster Competition. Got to the last four of the competition but couldn`t beat yours truly. Clearly knows his horses but dismisses the clock which for me is his downfall.

Fitness and the formbook not always the most straightforward combo I'd imagine there'd be plenty of 'woulda backed that but thought it wasn't fit' or fittest horse not the best handicapped or best form wise, too much potential indecision I think.

I saw Gibson at a Cheltenham preview night in Dublin last year. I noted two things he said. "Fancy of the week is Mister Whitaker" and "Killultagh Vic no chance in Gold Cup".
