do you have to have a hold up horse plum last or can you hold it up in mid division?

He actually got a blessed run through, better than could have been anticipated from the back of the field. Those tactics were always going to be difficult to pull off in this race, track, and draw but they had served the horse so well so far that they were unlikely to try something different.

jamie spencer it has to be plum last (detached last even better) - other jockeys not sure ...

A thin line between being hailed a genius or having abuse hurled at you.

Saved ground from a bad draw, conserved her energy, and utilised her greatest strength which is a potent turn of foot, but unfortunately found the post coming too soon against one of the great fillies of the modern era.

Good ride imo.

We are all split guys on this race but enable wasn't at her best and still won there is no doubt. If sea of class can't beat an under par enable on good ground she never will. Having said that I think Doyle rode a poor race he was just too far back and had plenty of chance to get the horse In the race before he did. If he had taken the dancing brave route like GOD did then I think he would have won although not sure sea of class is a dancing brave but who knows

Some bollox talked on this thread. The draw got it beat, the draw also got you the fancy prices. One more stride & its a fantastic ride.

Didn't need to be that far back.Glad he was though,i thought enable was a cert.

Sat too far back. Enable was always likely to quicken at some point in the final 2 furlongs and when you sit a mile off something that can quicken late in the race it's game over. Would have been worth being 3 wide to sit within 2-3 lengths of Enable.

Doyle rode it like he knew he was on a world beater. He was.... but he just didn't ask it to go early enough. Swap the jockeys and it would have reversed the places (Nap).

Thought he did as well as he could from a rotten draw.

What were the fractions, it looked like an attempt by the Ballydoyle mafia to run them ragged?

That would have suited SOC out the back.

Enable sitting close was understandably running out of steam.

100% correct. Not only are you asking the horse to pick up 19 horses strung out in the straight but the fav who unless something has gone wrong will have kicked on.

the people who think that when you're dropping in from a wide draw, you can just pick exactly where you'd like to be Laugh   clueless...gave it best ride to maximize her chance in the circs and would have won in another 2 strides..nothing more you can do

Some on here are really underestimating the importance of the draw at this course....

run style, wide draw, tactics endorsed by trainer's father-in-law - was always going to be that way (with hindsight, obvs Happy ).

I can't help wondering what would have happened if she'd had a good draw because she presumably would have been ridden more prominently than she ever has before.

It's some journey - racecourse debut and beaten in a maiden at the Craven meeting and 2nd in the Arc less than six months later.

Fascinating - The divided opinions.

I will throw another one in ...

IF Sea Of Class HAD Won ...............

How many - 'Frankie should have gone sooner' - or, of course - 'Frankie went to soon' - Threads - would there have been?  Happy

Lmao cardenden. It's simple guys if you come from so far back and get beat you've got to accept its a bad ride it's common sense. A length closer all the way round and a wider route and he would have won no doubt but like I said enable wasn't at her best. You can't almost win and say it was a great ride. He failed to win when he should have so that's a fail.

He was very lucky to be second,by some Miracle he met no trouble in running when he hit the straight.

no miracle, possibly a bit of luck, but horses with gears will get through small gaps where others dont

Onlooker disagree mate frankie rode enable like she should be ridden you couldn't fault frankies ride just Doyle's. I'm not a jockey whippin p and they get paid to be one so I think it's only fair when you fail in life you should expect some crap. Like I said on a post last nite man Utd won but they are still a disappointing bunch of overpaid tossas if you went to greggs for a sausage roll and it was burnt to a cinder I think you would complain or would you say never mind the oven was too hot lmfao

jockey's aren't perfect, they make mistakes, doyles ride was nearly perfect would have got there in a few more yards, because it wasn't he gets slaughtered. go figure. her draw wasn't perfect either.

exactly , they would be scalding frankie if he had been beaten by the same distance ,, the jock on the second did nothing wrong,, pocket talkers

The runner up was a bit unlucky-but you could argue if Enable had been 100% then she'd have been second anyway.

Enable is a very good filly to win the best middle distance race in Europe after that preparation.

Perhaps we should congratulate the connections for getting her back to win after a nightmare year, rather than bash Doyler?

I'm not talking from pocket cardenden I've got enable in an ongoing double but I just hate been mugged by jocks not doing their job to best of their ability. This will hurt Doyle more than any of you guys no doubt he was on a 200k slice of pie if he won but this goes much deeper than europes top race jocks pick and chose when to try and lack of effort on placed horses is shocking and should lead to bans end of

Doyle rode as good a race as Greville Starkey did on Dancing Brave. Khaled Abdullah was luckier this time.
