back to racing Dom  - for you ??- I was on Grey galleon / Amelia G - claim 7lb
I have a dumb theory that women are not as good in sprint races (5f) - as they can't fire horses out as well as guys / lesser strength etc
get bad position , poor start  & muscled out of it - I would love to know women's stats on sprint races (pro rata to 7F plus) where breaking well might not be so important - do you think there is anything in this or total b*llocks
as a rider - just interested in your opinion

I can't speak from stats, but my own opinion is you will find most females apprentices are attached to smaller yards, some in bigger yards who make it will get less rides on Sprinters because sprinters don't tend to be trained by bigger trainers however a mute point for you could be;

Adele Rothery / Mulrennan - Winner on a lot of sprinters for Dandy
Amy Ryan - Won a few big sprints for her father
Rachel Richardson - Wins on sprinters for her father
Georgia Cox - Two biggest wins of her career in sprints
Amy Scott - Partnered a horse called Seamus Shindig to numerous big sprint handicaps
Hayley Turner - Group 1 winning 6f rider
Kirsty M - Rode a lot of sprint winners for Christine Dunnett
Milly Naseb - Often a go to rider for Stuart Williams when the money is down (that speaks volumes for me), and has established some good partnerships in the yard notably with Welease Bwian who was yes, a sprinter.

This is just a small sample, so I would say on personal opinion, I see no reason to think lady riders are worse in sprints, if anything their best days in the sun have often come on sprinters. Some female jockeys are strong, some are not but they will sit quieter than most lads, and a lot of sprint horses are quirky and needed to be kidded into a race, so as a result, may run better for a girl.

I remember a trainer once at Lingfield telling Kieren Fallon they booked him because he rides like a girl, the paddock was nearly empty and every connection and jockey heard it, at the time Kieren didn't look pleased, but the trainer merely meant he sat quiet on a horse, and got it rolling and progressing without the horse knowing it was in a race and it would run for him. It didn't stop many of us calling Kieren Kiera for the rest of the day after it won though.

To be fair to Dom, what he probably meant but didn't articulate was that the bigger trainers would focus more on milers, 10f horses and the Classics.

Exactly my point Johnny, unless the sprinter is going to be group class, the bigger trainers all want Classic potential horses, not handicappers and the better handicaps for smaller trainers tend to be 5-7f.

Guys -  cheers all & to you Dom - feel enlightened now
much prefer it when people give you a straight answer to a straight question
rather than swinging verbal haymakers at each other whilst on some personal vendetta
can't see what it achieves.

domino would not get as much stick as he does if he didn't do things like suggest that some unraced two year old was better than frankel.

frankel, arguably the best flat turf horse that's ever lived.

Kevin Darley said of female jockeys when doing a tribute to Alex Greaves the first Female Group 1 winning female jockey:
"Female jockeys are like a quiet man jockey, really. They might not be as strong but they get on with some of the horses better than maybe a man would, so I think there's plusses and minuses to it."

Result will stand, Mosse is trying to hold the winner in, and got outmuscled. No riding offence, no interference and neither horse lost momentum. Result will stand.

Amended result, I'm surprised.
