Thanks Lampus, a pleasing result as Delta would say.

It was a very open race on paper. Favourite ran a bit keen, but Crownthorpe didn't run as well as i expected.

Deadbrain, MM and Glasgow,

Thank you Grin

Guys,

The poster intheknow made this comment earlier ...........

I think you're trying too hard in this second thread. Lots of horses being 'mentioned' along the way. The previous thread was a great read. Back to basics please!

It was a valid point (as i responded) and even though it was only in the last few days (due to NR or no lay post) i feel he's correct and agree with him, so in future i will revert to the one lay only (still mentioning what i think could win the race on occasion, as i always did on the previous thread).

If i do see something i feel very strongly about (back or lay) in future, i will post it, but these occasions will be few and far between.

The 5 potential lays i mentioned within the 2 posts today all got beat, but so did the 3 backs (the other was a NR) although 2 were long priced EW outsiders.

Changing the subject, I noticed another couple of mistakes in the posts.

Sexy Metro who was just touched off by Pretty Pollyanna (the latter should read Signora Cabello)

In the official lay post i referred to the runners as 'she' - they were actually all geldings, but i had it in my head it was a fillies handicap. Minor issues, but i need to concentrate more.

Good luck.

Good morning Lampus, Ghost (when he arrives) et all from a dull and rainy Linköping.

Lampus,

I thankfully appreciate your confidence in me with respect to 'my thoughts' but after the stewards enquiry the result stands, and in future will only post the one lay, unless i like something really strongly as i mentioned earlier.

Having said that, and as you're a disciple of this thread (Laugh) i will make an exception for today only, as i do like an EW selection in the nursery at Leicester later.

It's not a strong fancy by any means, but interesting nevertheless and i've already backed it small W/P although not all matched yet. Apart from the lay, it will be my only bet today.

I'll post before i go to the Saab slave ship (can't access BF there) but the lay can wait as it runs in a race at Windsor this evening and it's currently outside the 5/2 odds limit anyway. I expect it to be shorter later.

Ghost,

You didn't have to post twice, i read you the first time Wink

The EW selection i mentioned earlier is a Michael Bell trained filly running in the nursery at Leicester (2.20) this afternoon. I watched a couple of video replays last night and think she's a runner of interest.

Porcelain Girl.

Progressed in 3 novice stakes, culminating in a couple of minor placings.

Won a class 4 nursery at Doncaster next time out (backed into 11/4f). Raced from the rear and Jamie Spencer looked confident throughout. Had to be switched, but once clear she quickened up nicely and came through to beat my Lippy (a good yardstick) by 1L.

In hindsight (such a wonderful thing) she may have been thrown in off a mark of 71, receiving 16 lb from the runner up.

She was raised 7 lb for the win that looked fair enough at the time. Michael Bell probably thought she was well handicapped and entered her for a 25K class 2 nursery at Newmarket.

She was quietly fancied at 8/1, but never got into the race and eventually finished 11th of 14. Reading the SL and RP form lines it would appear at first glance as a poor run, but i beg to differ.

She jinked at the start, lost at least a couple of lengths and momentum in the process and was always at the rear, in fact, was around 4L/5L down before the first furlong had been completed. JS didn't rush her and she remained at the rear until the the dip where she moved a little closer to the field. Coming out of the dip, she wandered left, right and left again, although not losing ground to the extent as her start.

I think Jamie realised she wasn't going to be concerned in the finish after that and allowed her to coast home, but in any event was only beaten 6.25L.

She's been dropped 1 lb (runs off 77 today) and although she's back in a class 4, may have to improve a little to win.

Nurseries are not the best betting mediums, but i think she's a solid EW bet at the odds. I was matched at 11.5 on the win, but to date my place part remains unmatched.

Good luck if you play Grin
