Christ where've you been hiding smirnoff Shocked
Well the better handicaps specialisation have been profitable up to now the problem is most of the week is missing with the way they've got the fixtures, the Saturday saturation and good prize money small fields is a joke.

I think the saturday loading thing is part of why I've struggled on the turf lately, also the ovwer-watering and
a bit of good old fashioned bad luck.

All the best smirnoff

The over watering and track biases are the cripplers for us punters,if it's not that it's a pace bias or both.
What's more annoying is that they can't even get the big meetings right look at the Lockinge meeting and the form turnarounds at Ascot in Group races.

Look at that Newmarket meeting last week especially Saturday huge track bias middle/far and the slow pace in the John Smiths with Euchen Glen of all horses making virtually all of a 20 runner or so crawl.

I didn't bother with it, watched the TDF, the WC and then dabbled in a couple of little races at Hamilton in the evening.

Plenty of eyecatchers and no runs among the beaten ones in those 2 races.
Good result for yourself in the World Cup as well.

Good point Richie, but there's very few who can fully understand the intricacies of the dolmio cistern.

Regarding this tie up btwn stables and bookies i dont know why people get up in arms about it becos this has gone on down the ages - the only difference being that its much more transparent in this day and age wiv all the modern technology  and online betting sites we have at our fingertips.Bookies have always had an "In" at certain yards so generally have known much more about a trainers horses than the general public but are more than happy to take peoples monies off them with the odds very much in their favour. However they are the first ones to cry blue murder when someone like Barney pulls their pants down once in a while but its all part of the game we play in and as we get wiser and older we should be able to read between the lines a bit better the stuff we are fed on a daily basis.
Its true in all forms of the press and the racing industry at large that we are fed what they want us to read/see/hear - thats how i see it anyway but all these shenanigans that go on btwn trainer/bookies tie ups shudnt really come as much of a surprise to anyone other than those still wet behind the ears GrinPlainPlain

The only problem I've got is that they don't take bets from people outside the game who aren't deep pocketed clueless serial losers or gambling addicts,if they took bets bets instead of restricting for any number of reasons I wouldn't care less instead it's one rule for them (racing media, employees, celebrities) and another for us.

A thing to bear in mind is that they offer prices under the guise of taking bets with a possibility of the punter winning yet when this happens the punter is stopped from betting.
There should be disclaimers with all of these ads/sites/shops stating that if you win you may not be able to continue betting with said company,in this day and age where discrimination of any kind is sued to pieces and demonised this industry seems like the only one that can do what it likes to it's consumers.

Cudnt agree more Denzil  but they arent bookmakers anymore in anything but name are they - for years they got away with murder and regularly took punters to the cleaners - but as time moved on and new platforms evolved such as this place they had to change their business model and so more and more "clued up" customers get told thanks but no thanks ( a model that will surely have to change again once the fbots crutch is taken away from them) - however you can be a clued up customer in their eyes just by beating a few prices and restricted/banned despite the fact that in all likelihood most of these punters wud do their money in anyway.
I've always maintained that one of the main reasons the premium charge came into effect was due to the fact that these big bookmaking firms invaded this place to have a business within a business as it were - you only have to stand in a betting shop for a few mins looking at an early price for a horse -say an even money chance that regularly moves into 10/11 or out to 11/10 and all its simply doing is following the prices on betfair but always undercutting them -it really is pathetic but thats the state of play these days -ok it might not happen as much now cos the pre race markets on here are pretty much dead in the water but you get my drift right.
Similarly at the tracks now its pretty much the same wiv the books just following on from what goes on on here -heres an example - went to Carlisle last October (19th i think it was) and watched many a "bookie" shortening a horse wivout taking a penny for it at the track - clearly just shadowing the market on here- and then travelled back to Brough Park dogs on the night time and stood in front of a bookie who had a dog chalked up at 9/4 that i was interested in backing-was trading at 3.95 on here at time .Anyways this "bookie shortened up said dog first to 2s then 7/4 wivout taking a single penny on it whilst all the time looking at his ipad - all pretty pathetic stuff really and all becos the dog had attracted about £90 to move its price inwards - end result was that i didnt bet the dog -it got smashed at bend and finished tailed off and it went off on here around the 10/3 mark .But this is the way of the modern world of bookmaking im afraid
