Tonights supper
![]() One of the most expensive cheeses in the world is moose cheese, which is produced in only one place: on the Moose House farm in Sweden. Moose milk is required to produce it. Moose cheese is white in color, and its appearance is reminiscent of feta cheese. It costs around €1,000 ($1,074) per kilogram, and it’s made in very limited quantities. ![]() |

Thanks for the comments guys.
10/10 successful consecutive daily lays and thread profit has hit the magic £500. Swiss Time broke a little better than Tin Hat and went straight to the lead from the inside stall, with the latter settled in about a length behind her, and the 2 newcomers close behind. It was basically the same order until just outside the furlong marker when jockey Eddie Greatrex asked him to quicken up, but he was very green and wandered, pushing his head to one side. EG managed to get him back on an even keel, and from that point the result was never in doubt, drawing away and winning easily by 2.25L, but was value for far more. I was impressed with him LTO and he won well conceding 5 lbs today. He may not have beaten much, but is still learning, and looking at the time of the race, it reads well considering the circumstances. The preceding race (4.25) was a 3 year old handicap over the sprint trip. The winner (who led) carried 9st 1 lb in a time of 1m 5.34secs. The 2 year old Tin Hat carried 1 lb more, ran green and wandered, in a time of 1m 5.79 secs, only a tad slower. Race times are not always a reliable guide, but considering the races were only 30 minutes apart, it provides a reasonable comparison. When you lay the 2nd favourite in what essentially was a two horse race in a field of 4, you need to be reasonably confident about the winner, and it paid off today. Swiss Time drifted significantly (I saw 6.8 on here at one stage) but this was almost entirely due to the sustained backing for the favourite on course from 2/5 to 1/4. It was trading at over 1.7 in the morning. This was obviously stable money that at least started the gamble, he was never a 1/4 bet solely on form. Daily profit £50 Running total profit (10/10) £500 Another lay tomorrow Summary of the 10 lays with finishing position and industry SP as follows : Monday - Washington DC @ 2.60 - 3rd @ 6/4f Tuesday - Cristal Spirit @ 3.25 - 2nd @ 7/2 (drifted) Wednesday - Scorpion Side @ 2.76 - 2nd @ 15/8 (beaten 31L) Thursday - Getareason @ 2.52 (inc. reduction factor) - 3rd @ 7/4 Friday - Melon @ 3.69 (inc. reduction factor) - fell @ 11/4 Saturday - Mr Adjudicator @ 3.56 (inc. reduction factor) - 2nd @ 100/30 (drifted) Sunday - Sailing Home @ 3.4 - 2nd @ 3/1 (drifted) Monday - Tamkeen @ 3.15 - 5th @ 9/4 Tuesday - Rose Berry @ 3.45 - unplaced @ 7/2 (drifted late on) Wednesday - Swiss Time @ 3.15 - 2nd @ 9/2 (drifted significantly late on) |

Todays' race cards are at lower grade turf and AW courses in UK and Ireland, without the quality of Ascot we had the luxury of yesterday, although backers of the 1/7 favourite in the first race will probably never return there again after it finished last of 4. To be fair to the horse, it reared up in the stalls, lost around 5 lengths and was always chasing the field in the 5f sprint. Mind you, any punters who thought it was a good short term investment, even though it only finished 3rd of 5 in an AW maiden at Dundalk LTO must have money to burn, even allowing for the fact the runner up in that race (a stablemate) is highly regarded, but was 'tenderly' handled. Sadly i didn't lay the long odds on favourite, that would have added gold plating to this thread.
Of my 10 beaten selections, there has been plenty of daylight to the winner in all races except Cristal Spirit (on the 2nd day) who lost by a neck in a bunch finish with 4 others. He turns out again today in the 4.40 Redcar, but I will not lay it again as i think it's in with a reasonable handicap weight, and could win, although I will not be backing it. I've mentioned before i'm not a fan of AW racing at all, yet 3 of todays meetings in UK are as such, and the low grade card at Clonmel in Ireland on heavy going comes with a health warning to wallets, so choice of venue for my lay selection today is limited, even more so with the odds limit of 5/2 and 7-8 odds-on favourites. Nevertheless, i've bitten the bullet and from a short list of 3, decided on a lay that runs on the AW, although i'm not as confident as i was yesterday. 6.50 Chelmsford Prabeni Unraced as a 2 year old, a 3 year old, William Haggis trained Teofilo colt who ran in the Wood Ditton stakes at Newmarket recently, a class 3 maiden with history behind it, that often attracts some well bred colts, although i can't recollect anything half-decent coming out of it in recent years. He wasn't fancied starting at 16/1. Settled in behind the leaders, pushed along before the dip, that he didn't seem to handle, but did run on through beaten horses in the final furlong to finish 5th, 6.25L behnd the winner. The form is a quandry as the field were newcomers and haven't run since. John Gosdens' Surya was joint favourite in the race, finishing 2.75L behind Prabeni so he will have some sort of guidance how he stands with his runner today. The likely favourite is the John Gosden trained Main Street who was 3/1 on debut in a maiden (7f) at Newmarket, but was slowly away and never got into the race. The form is working out well, the winner has won twice since (including a class 2) the runner up has also won twice, and the 3rd has won, so the form looks solid in the context of this race. His next race, a 2 year old novice stakes (8f) over the course brought significant improvement and he created a good impression coming from last to first with an impressive turn of foot. The race may not have taken a lot of winning, but won he easily and was going away at the finish. He has an entry in the group 2 King Edward stakes at Royal Ascot. There are several other unexposed 3 year olds in the race, and a 4 year old who ran well in his only start, but has had a wind operation, and gives a lot of weight away. The field is very lightly raced with any amount of improvement to come, and includes a JG trained newcomer, so it's certainly not a two horse race by any means. Main Street and Prabeni will appreciate the move up in trip, in fact the latter may even want further. Main Street obviously acts on the polytrack, but it has to be taken on trust whether Prabeni does. The latter runs in the Cracksman colours, so hopefully he hasn't inherited some of that ones quality. I think this race is far more open than the betting might suggest and based on my comments above is the lay today.
