It was a poor ride and it would still have been a poor ride had he managed to nick it on the line. He should never have given away so much ground to Big Orange who is a renowned strong galloper and a tough battler and was setting his own comfortable pace. Had he sat two lengths behind Big Orange he would have been a comfortable winner.

Cork Langer, just to answer your previous post.
I really don't care what you or anyone else thinks. In my opinion that is the only way to post on forums. If people think I am posting rubbish that's up to them. One day I might agree with someone, the next day I might take the opposite view. That's the way it should work, it would be silly to carry baggage. As to the draw like it or not I interpreted it correctly after one race. Fluke, or otherwise I would sooner have that than someone who still appears not to have a clue after six races. It didn't do me any good because I bet 99% early prices. At the start of the week Sioux Nation was one of a small number of horses I intended to back. I had an inkling that despite the bare form he might be the best O'Brien's early 2yo's and he would almost certainly appreciate the much quicker ground. I think I said that it wouldn't surprise if the bias switched again and I flagged up several low drawn horses who seemed to have attracted overnight money. Perhaps I should have said it was impossible to back a horse with any certainty but I think that is being pedantic. I was left with a dilemma of whether or not to place a small stakes bet at big odds or let it run. Had it been a 6/4 chance there wouldn't have been a decision. All of this hasn't really got much to do with Moore riding a very poor race yesterday. Believe it or not he did. |

thanks for the reply, think you have misunderstood the point I was attempting to make, but given your advice that you do not care what anyone thinks that is fairly immaterial anyway, it does beg the question why you post at all though, if you do not value or care for alternative opinion or debate if it differs from your own seems pretty meaningless, nonetheless gl |

The favourite had to come wider round the last bend than he did last year.
Despite that, the horse lost after looking likely to sweep past the winner. The head on confirms that the second dogged it. I can't see why the jockey should be blamed for any of that. |
By:
Haven't read all of the thread but for what it's worth had Moore nailed it on the line it would have been the ride of the season for me
By:
The horse drifted from the middle of the track right into the side of the winner with the jockey hitting the horse on his right with is the correct side to be hitting it.
Whether simply riding the horse after the first couple of cracks would have resulted in the horse running more sweetly is a matter for the trainer to decide. They don't hang like that for no reason. |
By:
traded 1.2 in running
By:
They hang because they are tired in most cases, which was not surprising in this case given he expended most of his energy making up ground on the winner in the hottest part of the race.
By:
Hope he does not mess up on Caravaggio later.
By:
I wonder if we'll see the horse with some sort of headgear next time out?
Won without the jockey having to pick up the whip lto. But look at the race before, under pressure and head plenty high enough and to the left when it finished second. That looks like a dog to me. Although a very talented one. |
By:
Thought the horse showed a ton of guts myself
By:
mainstream is clearly a horse that you want to cede 20L on. Same mistake as yesterday. ie drop them out show nil positivity and.,.........not get there.
By:
Well done Ryan.Top Ascot jockey again probably.
By:
I would have ridden at least 2 more winners than he has this week.
By:
This has been done to death so often - he's clearly a liability - I have him as a 3lb penalty and I think I'm erring on the generous side.
By:
under pressure and head plenty high enough and to the left when it finished second.
Head to the right rather, the same side it was hanging yesterday. |
By:
Same ride as he gave him last year, only he had to come wider this time.
He was always going to get there, except when he did get there he decided to hang into the other horse instead of passing it. |

Caravaggio
luved Moore's brief post race cooment-- I gave him a message and he responded btw--a big fan |
By:
Let's hope he does not run into a cul-de-sac on Limato; Caravaggio yesterday similarly Minding (Epsom Oaks) got him out of jail.

Rode the perfect race on Caravaggio.

Terrible Jockey This Ryan Moore Chap .

By:
September, settle, travel, quicken and battle. This obsession for being up with the pace is not my cup of tea.Obviously it suits certain horses, such as Big Orange,Lady Aurelia etc but not in general.
By:
money, praising any other of his steering job wins doesn't erase the wrong he did here.
By:
Moore has been comfortably the best jockey riding in Europe for at least 10-12 years. Unfortunately, we live in an age where everyone wants to criticise, plus we also see a lot more races and replays than we did in previous generations which means that holes can be picked. Since Piggott no one has been the top jockey in Europe for as long as Moore has.
By:
If anyone thought Moore was the best jockey riding in Europe for at last 10-12 years either they had not lived or followed horse racing in this period, why? Moore had lost uncountable number of prestigious races he ought to have won with the best horse in the race, full stop!
By:
Nonsense.
By:
I'd agree with Impossible, Ryan is average at best .
By:
Be no market if we all had the same opinion, always good to see who is for or against
By:
I also agree- his decisions have lost countless Group races on the best horse.
By:
And all his winners have been steering jobs I assume.
By:
No of course not but that fact does not mitigate his errors, errors that repeat on a very regular basis.
By:
Not sure what races we are talking about but this week Churchill was not good enough on the day and Order Of St George was delivered perfectly to win the race but wouldn`t go past. Any others?
By:
I haven't the time to list them on a Saturday of races.
By:
Delivered perfectly. Not so sure about that. He should have won on OOTG for me.
By:
September should have won by a lesser margin to preserve a mark for a nursery.

poor ride for the queen yest ...today ?
