Can anyone remember a race where Moore did something extraordinary to win a race he should not have won eg Lester (Commanche Run against Slip Anchor), Dettori (Galileo Gold/Golden Horn).

Laugh you've got to be kidding me ??

2007 Coral-Eclipse Stakes Sandown Park, watch it and tell me he has never done anything extraordinary to win a race he should not have won

Not sure that's the best example imo, as I can't be sure he wouldn't have won had he stayed far side.

Speaking of Timeform, here's Simon Rowland's take on the ride!

euphemisms abound

JW and JM "Ryan would like to ride it again" and "if he could ride the race again he would do something different"

the boys just couldn't say it

Moore is excellent , but when he's " At it " I still think Dettori is the best

Dettori has given him a riding lesson there.

Done up like a kipper by Dettori, excellent ride. Controlled the race from second place, went the pace he wanted and kicked on. Moore just followed him around.

Dettori's had plenty more left if it was needed.

Is this thread going to get topped every time he fails to win a race?

That may or may not be the case but it was certainly a better ride. Judged the pace perfectly, sat in the right position and kicked for home early stealing an advantage.

So surely there should be a thread praising Frankie's ride rather than people using it as a stick to beat Moore with.

Reminds me of Velasquez in the states a money rider nothing more nothing less. Invariably wins group races because he is usually on the best horse. Do i think he gives a lesser horse an edge the answer is no. and as an add on he is a miserable little fecker who should be grateful for the position he is in.

Dettori showed up Moore there,...a bit like Piggott on Commanche Run vs Cauthen on Oh So Sharp in the 1985 Benson and Hedges Gold Cup. Even Murtagh commented Moore would have ridden a different race in the 1000G.

Sure what would one of the greatest jockeys ever know, when the Moore fans on here say differentLaugh

The problem with Ekbalko's argument is that the biggest and best connections, who can have whoever they want, picked Ryan Moore.

Moore rode a brainless race in the 1000G especially from a good draw, and then got stuck behind a "pacemaker" but let another stable companion that finished well the previous time who'd been backed from 33/1 to 10/1 by race day to be infront of him; there had also been several brainless "howlers" from Moore at Ascot, the most brainless of all was when finishing 2nd on The Gurkha behind Dettori and Galileo Gold in the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.

He'll get plenty of big race winners due to the volume of rides, but Smullen would get more on the same horses. If Moore was riding when there were several top class jockeys riding on the flat he'd be lucky to pick up a spare in a big race.

A good jockey should be one that wins races when least expected; a good jockey should also win races expected of him.

I remember clearly what John Ferguson, the head hencho of Goldophin, said about trainers. Ferguson: "a good trainer will not make a slow horse go faster but a bad trainer will make a good horse go slower.

I do not allow myself to be singularly influenced by jockey booking in my bets.

Of course he would, unfortunately he got interfered with in the 1000G. She still would have had to go some to beat the winner.

That's like a goalkeeper saving my penalty in the Champions League final diving to his right. If I had the chance again I would have gone to the keepers left Plain

Indeed, if Moore had been riding against the likes of Piggott, Eddery, Cauthen, Swinburn, Kinane and Murtagh to name a few he'd not be lauded the way he's been presently.

If Moore had been riding for any of the Arab owners his services would have been terminated on numerous occasions by now. Look what happened to Starkey...one awful mistake in the Epsom Derby he was cast away for good.

"Of course he would, unfortunately he got interfered with in the 1000G. She still would have had to go some way to beat the winner."

But who put the horse in that position...the monkey on her back, agree? Moore had been doing this on numerous occasions even at Royal Ascot. It's like saying post a traffic accident "it was not my fault, officer, I hit the barrier...another vehicle emerged suddenly."

Perhaps not singularly influenced but surely its a very important part of the process?

impossible, so are you saying anyone involved in a traffic accident is automatically guilty cos they put themselves on the road?
