The issue is surely not his ability (clear cut and surely one of if not the best) but the complete unwillingness of the racing media to make any critical comment on what looked an ill judged effort in the 1,000 Guineas.
Compare and contrast this obsequious and supine approach to any other sport where criticism is an accepted part of the analysis. Chalk and cheese. It's no wonder the gravy trainers are held in such utter contempt. |

ill judged? you serious? he was short of room for 50yds...it happens every day in horse racing.

Injudicious riding of this sort seemed to happened fairly regularly with him; he had a few howlers last season too eg Minding in the Oaks; Order Of St George (Irish St Leger); The Gurkha (SJPS); Seventh Heaven (Fillies and Mares). If these had happened in other parts of the world the jockey might not make it back to the weighing at all.

Aside from his 1000 Guineas ride, which i thought was shocking, the main debate should be about the standard of rider in general at the moment. Quality gone way down. Where is the next eddery/piggott/kinane ??

Moore is different class to anyone else riding in Europe and has been for at least 10 years. Of course things won't go always go his way and he does make mistakes. Yesterday wasn't really one of those days though. He had the horse in a good place in the first half of the race but a couple of horses in front of him drifted around and a gap closed. It cost him ground and without doubt it would have been close with a clear run. If mugs want to believe he's not much good then go ahead but realistically it's laughable.

The repeated howlers of Group races last season is clear indication Moore is not in the same class as Piggott, Swinburn, Eddery, Cauthen, Kinane, Murtagh or even Dettori. Can anyone remember a race where Moore did something extraordinary to win a race he should not have won eg Lester (Commanche Run against Slip Anchor), Dettori (Galileo Gold/Golden Horn).
Moore is good but not "that" good, and I've never backed a horse (fav or not) on account of him. |

Half the problem, imo, is this 'ride with confidence' mantra they are all fed from the moment they sit in the saddle.
Moore had the chance to have her in a very good position tracking the leaders with clear racing room in the early part of the race, but he chose to take a pull and sit in behind, which is immediately going to make him a hostage to fortune. I've no doubt whatsoever that had he given her the same uncomplicated ride that Winter got then he'd have won - but he seems to always want to roll the dice in the Coolmore colours (maybe he thinks they want the cosmetic impact of a come from behind victory), and while a lot of the time the horses are getting him out of trouble (Minding in last year's Oaks is a good example), on this occasion not keeping it simple cost him a Classic winner... |

Unbelievable range of opinions - some hilarious and smacking of lack of racing knowledge/history - but all valid of course - an opinion is an opinion.
Having watched horse racing for 40 years it is laughable , imo , to put him ahead of Piggott , Eddery , Carson , Cauthen , Dettori , Fallon , Kinane et al - he literally couldn't lace their boots - he'd stand in the wrong position. His race positioning and race awareness has now gone through poor into atrocious - he's getting worse not better. Surely other seasoned race watchers see it?!?!?! - last year at Royal Ascot for instance he was an absolute joke - in the case of yesterday given he was riding an 8f 2yo winner that gives every indication of 8f being it's minimum trip as a 3yo - what should the plan be to maximise the chances of success? It should be to sit prominent and make stamina the key to the race NOT speed - do NOT to sit mid div amongst horses 7 lgths off the pace , he doesn't see what's unfolding ahead , he should have switched the filly 10 strides before he did - to these eyes it smacks of poor race planning compounded by incompetence during the race - he was 4.5 lgths behind with less than a furlong to run and was beaten 2 lgths - reverse the race positions and rides that the front two received and Rhod. would have won 2+ lgths - imo. He gives every indication to these eyes of not being able to judge where to be in a race with any skill and forethought moist of the time - it's almost as if he doesn't think about it beforehand and relies on instinct. The number of races I have seen him lose when he should have won far outnumbers the number of races I've seen him pull out the fire from defeat - from a pun ting point of view , reluctantly , I've had enough and added him to the JP/Jonjo/D.Barron/Mrs Dunnett etc. list - no bet scenarios(Back or Lay) - they're more trouble than they're worth. |

Currently the recognized best jockey around - recently awarded the Longines World’s Best Jockey award.
Rides for top trainers all over the world, will end up being one of the most successful jockey's of all time. Every jockey has ups and downs, but Moore has far more ups than downs. I'd certainly take him on every horse I back... |

Better than anyone else currently riding by 7lbs at least & for me would hold his own against the majority of the best jockeys of the last 30 - 40 years.
T'was a ill judged ride in the 1000 though, Could see very early he'd struggle for gaps yet sat hoping they'd appear, It happens unfortunately. |

Was Rhodedendron having a prep for the Oaks.
and was Winter the one that was "Fancied" yesterday? |

I hope he stays away from Winter (for good). I'm and have not been a fan of an outside jockey being the stable jockey; his 1000G "antics" cost me over one grand in doubles, trebles and accas after recouping stake money.

Homecoming Queen and Notnowcato were given cracking rides winning Group 1s IMHO he was so bad last season, i'd say he is riding to orders. O'Brien is clueless when it comes to race tactics |
