It doesn't happen very often but these kind of reversals are devastating.
By:
apparently the jockey picked up the wrong saddle when weighing in..

By:

The Stewards held an enquiry following an objection from the Clerk of the Scales to the winner, MIGHTY ZIP (USA), ridden by Jordan Uys, and trained by Lisa Williamson, on the grounds of the rider weighing in at 8st 7lb having weighed out at 8st 13lb. They interviewed the rider, the trainer’s representative, and the Clerk of the Scales. Having heard their evidence the Stewards found the trainer in breach of Rule (C)43.3 in that her representative had forgotten to put the weight cloth on. They fined the trainer £1500 and disqualified MIGHTY ZIP (USA), placing CULLODEN, first, HURRICANE ALERT, second, FABULOUS FLYER, third, and ZEBELINI (IRE), fourth.

forgotten to put the weight cloth on
so were was it,over his shoulder ![]() |
By:
not the jocks fault then
By:
if you cannot win, you should not lose,
those out of pocket should sue for their money back ! |
By:
Am glad the jockey not to blame as otherwise it would be a nightmare experience for him.
By:
the rep aint feeling too bright though
By:
It's still paying as a winner on sportsbook
By:
Only backers here got scalped - trainer & jockey nothing by comparison - she's fined £1500 - I lost £950 alone to some layer who knew more than we did. Racing needs this like a hole in the head - serious credibility issue for that track also - how hard is it to weigh anyone / anything. Help me out here also , usually holding saddle + weights when being weighed - how do you then pick up another saddle or forget cloth when holding it in ones own arms , weight cloth line don't ring true. Can see legal writs falling like autumn leaves.

By:
good luck to those that are still getting paid by some firms but i always thought if they didnt carry the right weight it didnt count for double result.
By:
there's about a 2lb swing I think.
Normally don't pay double result when wrong weight is carried. |
By:
Sky have paid me.
By:
if they dont take weight into account in their rules which betvictor seem not to, whats to stop anyone putting up a lightweight with a 14 lb weight cloth and just forgetting to put it on, running a stone light
By:
Thank you to them both
****g ****s |
By:
what if it doesnt win
By:
it might not but a stone better off gives you a fairly good chance with the right horse and jockey
