Has the lad who designed it finished his work experience...

What a faff on to see a video replay......have to go into each individual race and scroll down to the bottom to view it Angry....how hard is it to put a video icon at the side of each race in a horses form Devil

This debacle is common in business. A senior person has employed an expensive marketing co. to give advice. Having paid through the nose for that advice they implement it.
Then when there is a backlash of negative feedback they refuse to believe it.
The Grand National weights PR disaster springs to mind with the rude audience being blamed
until reality eventually kicks in.

Is the idea to wreck the site in order to force you to log in?

I used to click on the form on oddschecker and then pick out whatever race I wanted to watch. Seemed so easy.

The online edition of the Racing Post Newspaper and the Sporting Life Website were the only two sites I used to look up a horses form, but when you look at a result, there's no value of the race, no class rating and worst of all for the flat there's no frickin draw for the horse! Who made this sh*t up Cry

gives me an idea, though, i might go and upgrade my car now !! I'll take the steering wheel off and pop it in the boot, put the pedals behind the drivers seat, and put my window wipers control switch under the bonnet, and to save weight I'll take a couple of windows out, why didn't i think of this before , thanks sporting life great upgrade

Found out about SP redesign through this thread, and boy, racecards are utterly useless now. No video form, no profile search, no beaten distance. It's not an overreaction to say I have no reason to visit the site now. Offers nothing others do not. Such nonsensical omissions that I can only think they are still in beta and forthcoming.

Also no going description on dropdown menu Crazy. For the record, I quite like the RP redesign and have switched to it from TF recently. This is a car crash.

Seemingly some of the errors reported are down to chrome incompatability, should work with Internet Explorer though.
By:

When: 23 Feb 17 12:18
They're merely presenting the bare bones of a race and the horses records.

Nevertheless the race videos are still available.

I'll just have to check to see if they've removed anything from those.

Such as the pictures or the commentary.

Just tried to view Saturday's Eider race at Newcastle.
Total garbage, no form data, or even weights ffs !!
Then an error message ...... ' there is a problem viewing this race '

Utter utter shambles.

Very poor work all round, imo.

The "new" site is unbelievably poor. No ATR replays, the video for the "last run" is not always the last run. I shan't bother using this site again until they revert to the old one (that actually worked).

The Sporting Life website was starting to become good again. Okay, no private ratings but simple and traditional racecards with the useful Formwatch summaries below. Excellent historical form too - going back decades. Now they've completely ruined it. The form doesn't even show the beaten distances. Surely it's time the underlying data was provided freely by the racing authorities so people can do what they like with it. The Austalian Punters.com.au already give out racecards in CSV files. Racing deserves better than this garbage!!!

SL previously was the "best" racecard site, as you could take in ....at a glance...each horse's data.

You can't do so with new format IMO...........or will take months to retrain the brain to adjust......and can't be bothered to do so!

Will have to find a decent newspaper to show a layout that I prefer, and I suspect most SL users will do the same.

Can't see why they make their site look so dreadful compared to what they had before.Crazy.

When searching yesterdays dog results for example, it tells you the results but doesn't tell you who was fav, you have to work it out for yourself!

TIMEFORM connection from BF provides a far better layout for racecards IMO....so will change to checking T from SL site from today.

Suspect many will do likewise.

The neck on them:

Many thanks for your feedback following the relaunch of sportinglife.com.

We have made note of all the comments made and appreciate a number of features from the previous site are not on the new version.

However, we are working on adding a number of features as soon as possible – including horse racing profile search, football league tables and various data-driven sections across a multitude of sports.

Other features have moved or been reformatted and we are confident that in time these will become as familiar to our users as the previous versions had been
.

We have no plans to change our policy of offering a free-to-use website with a wide range of content and are working hard to deliver the very best product to our readers.

In the meantime, please keep checking out the website together with our social channels as we will communicate as and when new features are live.

Thanks again for contacting us and using sportinglife.com.

TF is easier to "read" as smaller type and less colours! ATR pretty "good" layout otherwise.

Choniac-Yep they are taking the 'it will be alright on the night' approach no mention of 'we are aware of the negative feedback but will strive to put things right please be patient' approach which does not bode well. No doubt the responsible person has plenty of clout.
