Bathos not impossible downgraded but i just don't see this one as needing this trip.The sheikh's 3yo's are dangerous with a new trip but the distribution of the winners are predominantly for much more unexposed types generally, horses that may have only won one or 2 races to date over shorter (44 out of 47 of these 3yo handicappers trying trip for the first time had not won more than 2 races in their careers to date).

Of course this doesn't mean Bathos can't win it is down to it's last winning grade and mark again and none of this field have managed to win their last start.I just don't feel this is a 12f horse or is potentially progressive and a few of these could tick both boxes.

Beardwood unlike Bathos I think this one does need an increase in trip.It has been with Fahey and Ellison previously and is win less since it's 3yo mdn on 2nd start over 6f.Has not had many runs for a 4 year old and on yard debut (MJ 25% with these, 20-79) at thirsk was pushed along early and a couple of times in the race off of an average pace over a mile before plugging on late.Obviously not a straightforward one, if you look through it's races over shorter it is often running on when the race is over.Perhaps it needs a bit further (more than plausible on dams side), it has some loftier entries over 9 and 10f but is nowhere near the required rating for them at present.I think it has to be interesting but is also risky and it's one I'd rather chance around 10f than today's trip having watched back it's last run.

Ravenhoe like the other 2 runners is also on the downgrade today.A couple of lbs higher than winning a weak contest at beverley but did run well in a much stronger heat than this on the aw at Wolves over the 8 1/2f trip a couple of starts back.The last 2 runs have been disappointing but it has to be said the tactics have been at odds with it's optimum front running role which has seen it's success and there wasn't a great amount of obvious early pace on show here so you'd imagine an attempt from the front again dropped in grade.

Yesterday I thought Ravenhoe was the most likely today, when i looked earlier it was much bigger than it is now so i'm happy to let it go Will be interesting if the market continues to rate it nearer the race.

all these winning sheikh 2yo's are going to be fun next year hatters, plenty should get a trip.

the class 2-4 haul has increased each year from 2012 and he's 3 short of last season at the moment.

They are going on about the ground with Beardwood there, it's been running on fine on plenty of occasions on ground up to heavy, for me it needs a trip. You don't see many of MJ's shoved along so far out and that's been the case on both starts for the yard now.

If the right price would be interested in trying it over a longer distance.It's certainly not one for maximum faith but that change at a decent price would tempt me in a similar race.

Love Oasis could be a play tomorrow in the 6f nursery at Carlisle, this race could be a bit weaker than the Musselburgh contest and this is certainly the stiffest test so far in terms of stamina, If they haven't managed to win a race in this classification of race you want a change and this one gets that tomorrow as well as having plenty of experience which may just be an advantage now.

Certainly would consider this if the 10/1 around at the moment is still about tomorrow.

Yorkidding has her 11th race this season today. That seems a little too much to me.

Hayley Bop was actually a trend horse but i didn't really fancy it

2 positives revolving around the hcp class drop 2 into a 3

no last time out winners and ran at york and not placed lto (don't know what it is about that place)

another decent priced winner on a saturday missed after a lot of misses in the week.

Similar september(figures hold up all summer but sweet spot this month) class dropper for 3yo  Beaverbrook today 3yo+hcp 2 into a 3. 9-28 +£33.38

Those ahead in market all have proven soft ground form (though soft at Ffos las is often in it's own category!)

Thought Beaverbrook could nick a race back end of the season after that last run. Had a look at MJ's record on soft here 1-7 and 3 seconds, most sen there in conditions have run a race.This surface may actually help as doesn't seem to do too much too quickly in races, gut feeling is he has the required stamina IF getting through this ground.

7/1+ a tempter for anyone today

Going to pass if I'd played Haley Bop yesterday I would have had a go around this price today, certainly the 7/1 earlier.Not totally convinced about Beaverbrook and the condiitons are complete guesswork against proven performers on it.

Certainly would not dismiss with the class drop angle though
