I wouldn't be, "putting 10K ON A HORSE," - if it's best time was achieved over 6 Furlongs on FIRM ground, and it was now going to race over 7 Furlongs on HEAVY....
No matter, "HOW FAST IT CAN GO," over 6 Furlongs. |

so penzanz you have a 10 runner race 5 have ran 2 have good speed ratings and have ran and are fit
or do you go for the well touted newcommer its very hard to answer and yes some tucked away in races for the future but if you get 2 races maidens one is run in a time 2 sec faster than the other but u see in both races horses that were given tender rides but making headway to finish 5th if they met next time wd you back A the horse that was 5th in the better time race or the other horse , ps they both ran on similer going , ant meet on same ground conditions ,  |

onlooker exactly you back the horse with the best speed rating on achieved on said going
thats why breeding comes hand in hand no point having a horse that cant produce on said going but speed rating can easly be calculated on any going , its also worth checking other times on card give you a better idea off accuracy of going again only a guide |

Mart - you are allowed to watch a race and not have a bet.
You haven't mentioned prices, ground last run, ground this time, or anything so how is anyone meant to pick a horse on your scenario, and why would you bet a well touted horse? Just leave the race alone would be my decision, but then again I wouldn't even look at the race in the first place |

If you want to calculate a speed rating for a horse that has never run on said ground you go for it, sounds a great way to bet.

horse B tf 75. Guide only,horse A might be a 80 max,animal, whereas B coulld be a 90 animal under optimum conditions. |

I couldn't give a toss about players in America and Australia (what has that got to do with a single thing here)?? You are telling me and everyone on here that no professional punter makes money without speed ratings (and you are saying I am making MYSELF look an idiot)!! Well for one I do, and for another a good mate of mine does - and neither of us uses speed ratings at all. I do not know every other professional punter in the UK let alone the world though (and suspect you don't either), so am actually telling you that you are wrong with ACTUAL FACTS I have in front of me. No comments on any of that or are you avoiding? |

magic get rid of the stuck record no i want tell u what i am doing as every other fker wd do the same am not mean but i have my owne methods and yes i might get some nods now and again but i wd not show these bets for obvious reasons , i can tell you this much i dont know a single owner who wd be happy if someone stuck one of their up on the forum , its privileged , i have know people a long time

You'll find actually mart that the people who rely heavily on speed ratings are in the minority, not the majority.
You know what the most important factor of any bet is? PRICE. Nothing matters more. Also - you had 5 at least bets today, not just 2. So you should just say that to avoid everyone getting on your back... don't try to hide anything, as a super shrewdie you should know that you'll get found out eventually. GL.  |

indeed penz but surely the horse that has produced similar form in a faster run race has less improvement to show on paper
its just a % call but u weigh it up most times the faster race produced more winners given the fact they are beat sim dis in their appropriate races , as they wd have to improve more in theory , the biggest form of improvement in many cases is the ground , hence breeding comes into play , draw at track on going etc ! someone got one of these paint rollers out at chester and draw the lines from stall one to ten to the bend , then measured , its was just under a yard dis advantage each stall number you went up ie stall 1 was the shortest , this created a huge draw bias over the 5fur races at the track not only are the high drawn horses got to travel further to the bend , they then finding themeselfs having to make ground on a tight track jossling for a position but often the bird has flown ! |

its only about opinions after all but sometimes a debate id a good thing , others have fresh ideas
no one knows everything as they say  was in the betting shop today guy who works next door does small bets , i really felt for him as he has 8 teams both to score no draw ! a hard bet ,but it was the way it was beat sometimes life is very cruel , he was waiting on hull to score for over 12 grand , they got a man sent off and after being 2-0 down lost 4-0 very unlucky , i have loaded up his bet but await the mods , he has a young family and that cd have been a nice hol he only bet 20 quid a week only on footy bets !  |

Mart, on what basis do you think the horse needs further ? The dam has produced 3 foals, 2 colts and a filly, including the winner of course. Of the other 2, Scottish Glen won 10 races at 7f and 8f, American Girl won 3, all at 8f. |
