Dear ATR,

Just to advise that I am an avid racing fan and member of Cheltenham racecourse. Other than my family racing is my main passion in life.

Despite a cracking card at Leopardstown today though featuring some of the best horses in training when I hear Fitz was in the studio I had no hesitation in spending the afternoon out the house. This is how bad it has got. Oh and btw there are 1000s others like me.

Regards,

Hugely disillusioned racing fan

P.s. Itv please take note

Is he any worse than fawning Simon/The Cat/Sir Bob,much of a muchness or maybe could it be that he is "Oirish" and doesn,t speak "proper English"?

As I have said on numerous occasions I cannot understand why we need presenters anyway. Most punters simply want to watch a race to see where their money is going.
Few people (imo) are really interested in all the waffle that surrounds races, but these presenters do believe we are hanging on their every word.
ITV will NOT attract a vast audience as it's all ready embedded in CH4.....they will simply switch over.
Is anyone who is seriously interested in racing going to listen to the 'gravy train' lot, plus be swayed by them?.....I think not.
If by some miracle viewing figures do improve it will be short lived once the novelty value dissipates.
Bring on one racing channel with no presenters!

Masters of the bleeding obvious all of them. Never tip a decent winner, just the douvans and faugheens. Jump racing has become a bit of a farce. We get walkovers like yesterday or horses like Dare Me or Flugzeug today pulling up all over the place then winning at a massive price.

At least when I turn on and he's there I either watch something else or go and do something else. He'll be on Channel 4 tomorrow so I'm going to Cheltenham.

I've also just emailed ATR complaining as I did last Sunday.

They dont want people watching if they are giving this tool airtime. Even if he was knowledgable  which he isnt, his voice is so grating, it is grounds for immediate dismissal.

Whatever the merits of your case against individual posters on here sparrow, the fact remains that I know of no one who has a positive word to say about Fitzgerald.

Does that not indicate something?

Good morning, Mick Fitz here - account number 26384672. I'd like to have £500 on Jarir to win that race at Lingfield that finished 5 minutes ago. It's dropping back a furlong on an easier furlong and is superior to the othersand will get an easy lead. £500 quid at 3/1. Thanks.

If Thomas Brown is anywhere near his best, he'll win.

BUT

Vintage Vinnie could just be the best horse in this race.

And he gets paid for it.

What a moronic reply, of course there are more important things but that does not take from the fact that Fitzgerald is a sickener.

Fitz's Wikipedia entry
Career post retirement[edit]
Mick Fitzgerald is now a popular face presenting and analysing both flat and National hunt races. Initially working for At The Races, in 2013 he joined the Channel 4 Racing presenting team to give an insight into the racecraft and training of jockeys. Despite being unable to ride since his injury, he is still closely involved in racing. When not presenting he spends time at Nicky Henderson's yard helping to advise about race tactics. Fitzgerald is also involved in the British Racing School coaching young and aspiring jockeys on their technique as well as attitude.
Personal Life[edit]
Mick Fitzgerald lives in the Lambourn area of Berkshire. He has three children and lives with his wife. Mick had an earlier marriage, and was at one time brother-in-law to Paul Nicholls by marriage. Fitzgerald is a well known character on the Lambourn racing scene, and is a close friend of Champion Jockey AP McCoy, with the pair playing golf together often. Mick has become a patron to Alder Hey Charity.[1]

...... Readers will wonder who wrote that he is a 'popular' face Confused but the other intriguing aspect of this is I wonder how the home life is.  When he is not on tv he is doing all these other things hmmmm

How come that when you sign into the Forum and they headline so called "Big Discussions", and put up a Cricket topic which has only 66 comments.
But they do not headline MR GREEDY FITZGERALD with over 110 comments.
Most odd that Plain.
