Many of my fondest racing memories involve Pat Eddery.  One of particular note was the Queen Anne Stakes victory on Warning in 1989 (I think). A complete joy to watch..RIP Pat and thank you for the memories..

The race between Grundy and Bustino achived a hype it never deserved but Pat certainly deserved all that was said of him.
In my opinion he was second only to Lester.
A great jockey who by all accounts was just as good human being. R.I.P.

Thanks foxy.  Couldn't be sure of the year.  Just remember the ground being lightning fast which suited the horse so well.  Happy memories....

Really shocked by this news, 63 is way too young to die in this day and age. Reports say he had been unwell for a long time, sort of makes you wonder what he actually died of, and could he have been saved with better care. Far too many relatively young people dying without much in the way of explanation imho.

Very sad.

We had a share in a horse at Peter Harris's called Marjeune (who we still own as a hack) and Pat rode her to her only victory in a Nottingham nursery. His brother Robert was the head lad at the time and Pat was only booked when they really fancied one.

What a great jockey.. I remember backing Barathea to win the Sussex Stakes.. Barathea came through to lead inside the final furlong..Then Pat came flying through on Distant View and won in a photo , he virtually carried it over the line.. Tremendous Jockey and one of the greats.
